Not unexpected, but still another blow for the innocent people trapped in this. Hamas signed innocent people up to die when they planned and executed their attack on October 7th, and they're still condemning innocent people to death now. Healthcare and aid services are devastated. Nowhere in Gaza is safe. The innocent people they abducted and took hostage remain captive. Over 50,000 people dead in Palestine and Israel.

Israel-Gaza war: Hamas formally rejects latest ceasefire offer

The group says it wants a deal that would free all hostages in return for an end to the war.

Yes I have read both the original and the 2017 revision (not in its entirety, but what I believe to be the salient points) and the latter clearly states that their grievance is with the "Zionist project", not Jews per se.

Now whether you want to believe them or not is up to you, but it is certainly not stated as doctrine that they want to "kill all Jews".

The 2017 version changed it to Zionists rather than Jews as a whole, whilst still keeping the simmering antisemitism and nonsense conspiracy theories which were more common in the 1300s...and calling for Jihad.

This was widely seen as a move to allow them to be seen as a resistance project and therefore more palatable to the West. It has worked in that you see people being attacked for "Stop Hamas" positions in Western cities. Whilst it is still a terrorist designated organisation.

No one serious about the ME sees Hamas as anything more than a bunch of butchering marauders.

It is all posturing for the audience - how can they determine who is a Zionist and who is not, within the State of Israel which they plan to destroy?

How do you not murder Jews predominantly if destroying a Jewish state? Use of semantics for a totally genocidal organisation.

I'm sure everyone will feel safe knowing they only want the destruction of a state and it's entire population (more than just Israeli-Jews {in their subtle terms, Zionists}, they want to kill all the protected minorities of the state of Israel - Druze, Arab Christians, Arabs etc al - as shown by their Oct 7 rehearsal - Thais, other Arabs...anyone!), an unceasing holy war (jihad), dismissal of anyone else's rights to the holy land and all this mired in typical antisemitism and conspiracy theories.

Here is The Atlantic's take - fwiw
The most relevant of the document’s 36 articles can be summarized as falling within four main themes:

The complete destruction of Israel as an essential condition for the liberation of Palestine and the establishment of a theocratic state based on Islamic law (Sharia),

The need for both unrestrained and unceasing holy war (jihad) to attain the above objective,

The deliberate disdain for, and dismissal of, any negotiated resolution or political settlement of Jewish and Muslim claims to the Holy Land, and

The reinforcement of historical anti-Semitic tropes and calumnies married to sinister conspiracy theories.

Article Thirty-One:
The Islamic Resistance Movement is a humanistic movement. It takes care of human rights and is guided by Islamic tolerance when dealing with the followers of other religions. It does not antagonize anyone of them except if it is antagonized by it or stands in its way to hamper its moves and waste its efforts.
Under the wing of Islam, it is possible for the followers of the three religions - Islam, Christianity and Judaism - to coexist in peace and quiet with each other. Peace and quiet would not be possible except under the wing of Islam. Past and present history are the best witness to that.
It is the duty of the followers of other religions to stop disputing the sovereignty of Islam in this region, because the day these followers should take over there will be nothing but carnage, displacement and terror. Everyone of them is at variance with his fellow-religionists, not to speak about followers of other religionists. Past and present history are full of examples to prove this fact.
"They will not fight against you in a body, except in fenced towns, or from behind walls. Their strength in war among themselves is great: thou thinkest them to be united; but their hearts are divided. This, because they are people who do not understand." (The Emigration - verse 14).
Islam confers upon everyone his legitimate rights. Islam prevents the incursion on other people's rights. The Zionist Nazi activities against our people will not last for long. "For the state of injustice lasts but one day, while the state of justice lasts till Doomsday."
"As to those who have not borne arms against you on account of religion, nor turned you out of your dwellings, Allah forbiddeth you not to deal kindly with them, and to behave justly towards them; for Allah loveth those who act justly." (The Tried - verse 8).
The Attempt to Isolate the Palestinian People:
Article Thirty-Two:
World Zionism, together with imperialistic powers, try through a studied plan and an intelligent strategy to remove one Arab state after another from the circle of struggle against Zionism, in order to have it finally face the Palestinian people only. Egypt was, to a great extent, removed from the circle of the struggle, through the treacherous Camp David Agreement. They are trying to draw other Arab countries into similar agreements and to bring them outside the circle of struggle.
The Islamic Resistance Movement calls on Arab and Islamic nations to take up the line of serious and persevering action to prevent the success of this horrendous plan, to warn the people of the danger eminating from leaving the circle of struggle against Zionism. Today it is Palestine, tomorrow it will be one country or another. The Zionist plan is limitless. After Palestine, the Zionists aspire to expand from the Nile to the Euphrates. When they will have digested the region they overtook, they will aspire to further expansion, and so on. Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying.
Leaving the circle of struggle with Zionism is high treason, and cursed be he who does that. "for whoso shall turn his back unto them on that day, unless he turneth aside to fight, or retreateth to another party of the faithful, shall draw on himself the indignation of Allah, and his abode shall be hell; an ill journey shall it be thither." (The Spoils - verse 16). There is no way out except by concentrating all powers and energies to face this Nazi, vicious Tatar invasion. The alternative is loss of one's country, the dispersion of citizens, the spread of vice on earth and the destruction of religious values. Let every person know that he is responsible before Allah, for "the doer of the slightest good deed is rewarded in like, and the does of the slightest evil deed is also rewarded in like."
The Islamic Resistance Movement consider itself to be the spearhead of the circle of struggle with world Zionism and a step on the road. The Movement adds its efforts to the efforts of all those who are active in the Palestinian arena. Arab and Islamic Peoples should augment by further steps on their part; Islamic groupings all over the Arab world should also do the same, since all of these are the best-equipped for the future role in the fight with the warmongering Jews.
"..and we have put enmity and hatred between them, until the day of resurrection. So often as they shall kindle a fire of war, Allah shall extinguish it; and they shall set their minds to act corruptly in the earth, but Allah loveth not the corrupt doers." (The Table - verse 64).

The PLO were relocated as part of a deal previously (think it was Tunisia). Similar could happen with Hamas, the Gazans don’t want them, there are constant protests, the Israelis won’t tolerate them being there. Best thing to do is see if a third country will host them. Having said that the PLO managed to create a shit hot mess in whichever country they landed so I’m not sure many countries will be keen on the plan.

God bless the Gazans, they have suffered enough, Hamas is busy terrorising and murdering protest organisers at the moment. They need to go.

quantumbutterfly · 19/04/2025 18:40

As 7/10 happened since 2017 and they recorded themselves joyously killing 'jews' and 'jewish dogs' , maybe not all the hamasniks have read their charter properly.

mouthpipette · 19/04/2025 18:12

Madcatdudette · 19/04/2025 17:56

Have you read the Hamas Charter? The only real difference between the two versions is they changed ‘Jews’ to ‘Zionist’s’
And who are you referring to when you write ‘us’?

Their doctrine is ‘kill all Jews’ @Madcatdudette

No it isn't, that's just what you imagine it to be.

And anyway, even it it were the aim of Hamas to "kill all Jews", there are probably no more than 30,000 of them and at least 15 million of us, nearly half of whom live in the United States and as such, are likely to be owners of and trained in, the use of firearms.

Hamas are what’s wrong with Palestine.

Maybe if the government weren’t so hell bent on religion and decimating the Jewish population the world would take their plight more seriously.
It ain’t Israel’s fault their borders exist but hey, let’s annihilate them anyway 🙄

You might think that Twiglets but I don't and I am entitled to my opinion. I will always consider Israel as a genocidal state that murdered thousands of children in Gaza and made life hell for the others in the west bank.

Does your opinion also include Hamas (as defacto govt of Gaza) as a genocidal actor?

Their charter demands the eradication of another state and people. That is a call for genocide.

Twiglets1 · 19/04/2025 09:58

You are of course entitled to your own opinion @Kakeandkake

Perhaps Israel has hope in the future too if they change their genocidal ways like Germany did.

You seem to forget that Israel are at war and they didn’t start the mass killings, Hamas did.

Most of the international community don’t consider it a genocide but a war where Israel were not the aggressor.

Investigations will be carried out after the war and certain individuals will be found to have committed war crimes and be punished for that. But Israel as a whole - they will be fine. It is the people of Gaza who are not fine and never will be unless the parasites from within are removed. Pleased to hear about anti Hamas protests from within Gaza. I hope the people are waking up to how they have been exploited for years & kept poor while Hamas thrived. And then flung Gaza into a war that Hamas couldn’t win on their own and oh look, they are on their own.

And even now … too much pride to agree to a ceasefire. Would prefer to carry on seeing the people of Gaza dying than admit they have lost the war.

It depends. Would there be a two state solution while one of those states is still committed to wiping out the other? @PollyPaintsFlowers

A year ago, Hamas offered a 5 year ceasefire and dissolution of its armed wing if Israel withdrew to 1967 borders and a Palestinian state were formed.

Hamas did offer a 'truce', which isn't really a long term peace but they wanted this in exchange 'He said Hamas would accept “a fully sovereign Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and the return of Palestinian refugees in accordance with the international resolutions,” along Israel’s pre-1967 borders.'

No way could Israel absorb millions of refugees. It's unworkable, no wonder it didn't happen

"with western help they can rebuild and a two state solution can be reached" @PollyPaintsFlowers

A great idea, but how do you force Israel to accept a 2 state solution ?

How do you force Hamas to have a two state solution when it's in their charter they don't even recognise the validity and existence of Israel?

PollyPaintsFlowers · 18/04/2025 22:58

Martymcfly24 · 18/04/2025 22:45

That sounds perfect.

Do you think Netanyahu and his cabinet with members such as Ben Gvir and Smotrich will agree to the complete withdrawal from Palestine and allow a two state solution to unfold.

It depends. Would there be a two state solution while one of those states is still committed to wiping out the other? Not just Israel, no country could foresee two states living successfully side by side in that situation. Netanyahu can be voted out, Hamas are hanging on for dear life. If they were to go, like Netanyahu and his cronies will be at the next election, yes I can see it happening. Not overnight, after every Intifada the politics in Israel lurches further to the right and after 7/10 even die hard peace activists said the dream of a peaceful two state solution was over. It will take a long time for wounds to heal on both sides but there are still peace initiatives happening in Israel which gives hope

Ha! As if Israel will ever allow a Palestinian state. Netanyahu only just told off Macron for suggesting France could recognise Palestine as a state.

And now explain his reasons for saying that. It's not as black and white as you propose
