It's an interesting one. I don't think a person speaking out about their boss continually bringing their pro Palestinian politics into a professional environment and making the people working beneath them feel uncomfortable would get such a reaction. Even if they said 'fucking pro Palestinian'.

There is a lot of kneejerk, emotional reaction to Bob Vylans comments that lack any real depth of thought.

All that article says on the subject is that he didn't like working for his former boss because he was a "fucking zionist". It doesn't say anything whatsoever about a problem with him being jewish. It doesn't even say he was jewish (plenty of zionists aren't, eg among the American Christian right).

If I say I don't like someone because they're a "fucking Nazi" it doesn't mean I hate Germans.

It seems they use their platform to voice the things that matter to them.

I don't think you're right in that assumption. Whatever you think of them (Bob Vylan is a duo not an individual) their music has always referenced social and political issues.

He likes making provocative and offensive comments because he is a publicity seeker. How many people had heard of him before this?

I think he said what he said to make people talk and make people uncomfortable and it has. The whole situation is uncomfortable, governments sitting watching Israel starve civillians is uncomfortable, seeing children blown to pieces is uncomfortable, seeing governments deny war crimes we can see with our own eyes is uncomfortable.

I think you will have a hard time proving that using a well known phrase like Death to X is illegal unless you are planning on banning all of the posters etc that say death to the patriarchy too.

Calling his zionist boss(and if he did speak like I remember Bob Vylan saying then he clearly was a zionist) who obviously made him extremely uncomfortable a 'fucking zionist' isn't illegal. Context is important here, was his boss Jewish but not zionist? I don't know he didn't name his boss, didn't speak of his ethnicity, I don't even know which boss he was talking about.

LHe will have said these things knowing that he was risking his career and he decided it was worth it so clearly this topic means a lot to him.

For the record - I deplore what the IDF are doing in Gaza and what the settlers are doing in the West Bank .

Anti zionist beliefs are protected under the equality act so I don't think that calling someone who wedged Israel into conversation a lot and expressed zionist beliefs(as I remember him saying on stage, like I said I could be wrong and I can't find it now) a 'fucking zionist' is breaking the law in any way, shape or form.
