I think there were ulterior motives. They announced the new system at almost the same time they announced that they were going to push for the 'voluntary emigration' of the Palestinians from Gaza. There's a reason why they didn't open any hubs in the north. It was so the Palestinians in the north are forced to leave.

Im not exactly surprised that some people believe the UN I just wonder why you think Israel have gone to so much effort and money to create a new mechanism for delivering aid if there was nothing wrong with the original system.

They did it for a logical reason as they do most things.

That's fine but I'm not sure why you're surprised that those that do trust the UN have nothing but criticism for the GHF and are sceptical about why it was set up in the first place, it is militarising access to aid and literally killing people. There are many far more qualified organisations to carry out the work of delivering humanitarian aid but Israel didn't want these potential witnesses on the ground in Gaza

I no longer consider the UN a reliable source by the way but accept that others do consider them a reliable source.

Well why are you active on this thread if you think updating on civilian casualties in Gaza is pointless?

Well they would do as they were the ones that had the contracts before to deliver aid in Gaza. The UN was denying that Hamas was stealing a lot of the aid they were responsible for delivering but that wasn’t true. Hamas are very threatened by the new aid distribution centres & have targeted local aid workers. That tells me they would prefer to return to the old system because that benefitted them financially.

This. Israel have not provided evidence that Hamas were stealing huge amounts of aid. The UN have stated less than 1% of their aid was getting looted which is actually lower than most conflict zones. Fed up hearing this as a reason for setting up the GHF. It was set up after weeks of blocking aid to quieten the critics

I know it isn’t a historical grievance and I don’t object to you posting it I just was wondering what you & others hope to achieve by posting these sort of posts every day of the war.

I know the Israel- Iran war only lasted 12 days but even so, the pro Israel people were not posting about every death that occurred to Israel civilians.

It is an appropriate thread for doing so and I mean no offence. Just can’t really see the point in these daily updates of the deaths of civilians. It just makes people like me hate Hamas more and makes others hate the IDF more.

Preventing famine and disease (particularly as Israel continues to dismantle healthcare in Gaza), has to be the priority.

This isn't a historical grievance. 38 Palestinians were killed today whilst trying to seek aid.

Do you not think there would be posts after posts if 38 Israelis were killed in the last 24 hours. Yet people object to even mentioning it. Just because Palestinians are being killed daily, I will not become desensitised to it.

Everyone seems to agree with you that the current system is flawed (as was the previous one).

I know that like me, you are very much hoping for a ceasefire soon.

But I don’t know what you are trying to achieve by keep posting negative things the IDF have done or in some cases are just accused of doing.

This board is divided into people that already hate the IDF and others who hate what happens in war but think awful things happen in any war (not excusing actual war crimes that should be punished).

The current system is not only inhumane and deadly for Palestinians, it also undermines what Israel perceive is a 'legitimate' response. The IDF have been forced to once again 'investigate' themselves after soldiers have come forward to say they have been ordered to shoot at aid seekers even when they don't pose a threat. A 130 aid charities have come together to demand an end to the GHF failed system.

This new system is not only lethal for the Palestinians, but also for Israel as it has exposed Israeli war crimes. Some soldiers have claimed they have been commanded by their superiors to shoot unarmed civilians who seek aid. One soldier went as far as saying it was like playing red light, green light with innocent Palestinians. And these shootings are relentless, they haven't stopped despite the IDF saying they will investigate.

No it didn’t work before in one very important regard - the humanitarian aid was an income stream for Hamas and we don’t want that, do we?

The last thing we wanted is for Hamas to have money to buy more weapons/build more tunnels etc.

Well It seemed to work before? Much better than the current "come here to get food so we can shoot you" shitshow.

No issue with the UN being allowed to deliver aid again as long as the Hamas militants leave Gaza.

But the UN delivering aid plus Hamas in the area is not a good combination.

If this is true then a ceasefire and a resumption of the UN aid will be critical to helping Hamas stay in power as they are fast running out of money:

I have seen (unconfirmed) reports that if the ceasefire deal goes through, the old system (run by the UN) will be allowed to deliver aid again.

The centres are often operating in combat zones. They have also been operating at times which contradict IDF orders. Four centres compared to four hundred under the UN.

Last night was reportedly horrific, with dozens killed whilst trying to reach the aid centres.
