Do you think it's ok for the IDF to force defenceless Palestinians to become their 'mosquitos' such a degrading term they use.

No I don't think that is ok and don't agree with everything the IDF do as I have stated many times.

Pertinent bits from the Guardian article I posted @Mylegishangingoff

How is Hamas accused of using human shields?
Israel has cited what it says are numerous examples of Hamas using human shields as a tactic in the current conflict and in the previous war in 2014. It claims Hamas has placed parts of its military tunnel system and command network under civilian objects including Gaza City’s Dar al-Shifa hospital.
Last Friday the IDF released an infographic depicting what it said was Hamas’s command HQ under the hospital. The following day, the IDF and the Shin Bet domestic security agency released footage they said was from the interrogation of two members of Hamas’s armed wing who they said had infiltrated Israel on 7 October during the massacre of 1,400 Israelis. They appeared to confirm that Hamas militants were using hospitals in the Gaza Strip to protect themselves from IDF strikes.
Is there independent evidence to back up the claims?
Anecdotal and other evidence does suggest that Hamas and other factions have used civilian objects including hospitals and schools. Guardian journalists in 2014 encountered armed men inside one hospital, and sightings of senior Hamas leaders inside the Shifa hospital have been documented.
During the 2014 conflict the UN reported weapons were found inside two UN schools and there have been numerous reports of Palestinian armed factions in Gaza firing rockets and other weapons from close to protected civilian locations. It is also clear that Hamas has operated from residential buildings.

Pew Research released on 8th April regarding American views on Israel, it shows that support for Israel is at it's lowest for 25 years.

The most important figure is the under 50 cohort which is increasingly negative.
The Republican figure is suprising as the strongest support for Israel has always been on the right.

These are the future leaders in politics and industry. They are also the cohort that have seen these images livestreamed in 4K.

As the security of Israel is dependent upon the support of America, loss of support is important as politicians will have to serve their voters interests.

Hence my comment on Bad week.

There has been much evidence of Hamas hiding out & storing weapons under public buildings like hospitals @Mylegishangingoff

www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/30/human-shield-israel-claim-hamas-command-centre-under-hospital-palestinian-civilian-gaza-city

I don't really understand what you think that article proves? How many of the 36 hospitals that have been bombed or burnt out does that article show evidence of Hamas being there at the time of the attack? That article even mentions Israels infamous 'infographic' the thing they completely made up and used as 'evidence' as to why they bombing a hospital was OK.

And again I ask the question how many members of Hamas do you personally think are worth the lives of the most vulnerable, not just the ones in the hospital at the time but the ones Israel will blow apart in future and won't have anywhere to get medical care? What is point where you personally go yeah, bombing the hospital was a good call. What evidence in particlar at which hospitals made you feel that way?

If the only source of this 'evidence' are Israeli claims then there is no evidence.

Disgusting. The IDF and those who constantly make excuses for their crimes are like a brainwashed cult.

So do you think this elderly man volunteered to become a 'human shield' for the IDF whilst rising his life going into Palestinian homes. Do you think any of this is ok in any way?

How has it been a bad week for the "But Hamas started everything" point of view? However much stuff you post about wartime atrocities you can never change the fact that Hamas did start this war. There was an uneasy truce before October 7th so I don't see how you can really fail to see that Hamas did start this war.

Equally, Israel do have a right to defend themselves, I would have thought that is unarguable.

Every country has a right to defend itself from massacres though I do agree the IDF have gone too far in their retaliation.

The fact that Israel is winning the war that Hamas started is because of their superior army, defence system, weapons etc. If Hamas had the capability they would do the same or worse to Israel. That is quite clear from what they have already said and done. Hamas insist on hiding out & storing weapons under public buildings like hospitals with the inevitable result that more civilians are killed than if they used different tactics.

Hamas insist on hiding out & storing weapons under public buildings like hospitals with the inevitable result that more civilians are killed than if they used different tactics.

But where's the proof on this? Have you seen proof? The IDF and Israeli government is as you would say yourself 'a biased source', have you seen independent evidence that under all 36 hospitals Israel have bombed and burnt there are Hamas hiding out or weapons stored(or even the majority of those) ? If not then why are you believing these particular 'stories'?

Do you personally believe that if 1 member of Hamas is in a hospital it is fine to bomb it? Or what is the tipping point for you where you think it is fine to set teenagers on drips on fire and leave premature babies to die because Hamas are there, 1 person, 2 people? 1 gun? 2 guns? At what point does it become OK to you to kill the most vulnerable, I'm genuinely interested in your views on this because you don't seem to think that bombing hospitals shouldn't happen, what evidence have you seen that makes you OK with this?

I heard the story today of the 80 year old Palestinian elderly man that was used as a human shield by the IDF. As If he had not suffered enough, they tied explosives around his neck and forced him to search houses. He was later let go with his elderly wife but before they had reached a short distance, both were shot dead. How can people still support the IDF? This is the depravaity they support.

Biased source.

You will have to stick to more reputable sources if you expect people to believe the stories that you post.

It's been a bad week for the "But Hamas started everything...." and "Israel has a right to defend itself" group. They've received a large dose of reality about how the public really feel about attempting to justify dropping 2000 pound bombs on tents, from both the left and right Worldwide.

Douglas Murray who received an award last year in Israel from president Isaac Herzog for being a good friend to Israel appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast to debate comedian Dave Smith.

Murray in a condescending tone attempted to lecture both Rogan and Smith on not being expert enough to talk about the atrocities being carried out in Palestine.

The comments on the video and across social media reacted negatively to Murray who used strawman arguments to defend atrocities (much like elsewhere). I thank him for introducing millions of Rogan listeners who didn't know about what was happening to researching more. Like him or not Rogan often talks about how he can't watch anymore videos of the atrocities being committed as it's too upsetting.

I don't feel sorry for this chief Neocon Murray who has played a large part in pushing racist Islamaphobic tropes in order to justify intervention in West Asia.

Israeli soldiers used 80-year-old Gazan as human shield, then killed him

Soldiers put an explosive cord around the man's neck and forced him to scout buildings for eight hours. After his release, another division shot him dead.

The current method doesn't appear to be getting any hostages released.

That poster seems to think it's about 'paying them back' not getting the hostages home, I would tend to agree. What Israel are doing is fueled by hatred, it's not about the hostages or even Hamas, as Gallant said right at the beginning 'We will erase everything' and that's what they have been doing while people cheer them on from the sidelines.

Exactly they started it by kidnapping all those people Israel are just paying them back maybe if they let the hostages go none of this would have continued

Hamas use hospitals as bases. Recently one brave doctor in Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis spoke up against Hamas doing this.

if people genuinely cared about gazans they would speak up against Hamas instead of all this anti Israel hate.

I listened to an Irish Doctor who has just got back from working in Nassar hospital being interviewed on channel 4 news last night. He was asked if there was any sign of hamas being there, I totally related to his answer "at one time having an Irish accent was enough to make you a member of the IRA!" He also correctly pointed out that even if (in the imagination of the IDF) there was a terrorist in the hospital you still don't bomb healthcare facilities, as per the Rome statute of 1998.

Israel consider themselves above international law. Such arrogance is evil.

Whatsinanamehey · 15/04/2025 13:35

Israel bombed the entrance of the Kuwaiti field hospital just a few hours ago, killing a medic and wounding others. This hospital is in mawasi which is barren land turned into a tent city for displaced civilians. They leave no stone unturned to inflict as much pain as they can on the Palestinians.

Israel is a murderous, fascist state whose leader is a wanted war criminal. Considering how many Palestinians Israel murders every single day, this thread is more than needed to discuss that.
