Every other day another hospital or school is bombed based on the same lies with little to no proof ever given.

Edited

It’s not “the same lies” every situation is different and sometimes buildings have to be destroyed in wars if there is reason to believe they present a danger. For example if buildings are used for storing weapons or in the case of Hamas where they build their tunnels under hospitals & schools.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 18/04/2025 09:10

In addition to hiding in schools & using civilians as human shields, Hamas entered a school full of displaced Gazans in the north & brutally murdered a man who defended his nephew from being kidnapped to blackmail the kid's father. Hamas is a fascist terrorist group of criminals.

Not my words, they're from a Palestinian peace activist

I will wait to see the full investigation @Whatsinanamehey to see whether the soldiers were carrying out instructions from higher up or went rogue.

So far no evidence has ever been produced to substantiate the claims hospitals are being used as command centres by Hamas. The only proof being put forward appears to be 'because Israel says so'.

There's been lots of evidence, this is just one example

They said none of them were shot at a close range which has also now been proven as a lie.

Whatsinanamehey · 18/04/2025 08:53

Do you think these lies don't come from the top? The same way they lied to cover up the brutal murder of Hind Rajab which were also later found out.

Whatsinanamehey · 18/04/2025 08:52

Twiglets1 · 18/04/2025 08:47

I think from the Sky report it does look like a war crime was committed on that occasion. Probably further investigation is needed to ascertain who is more to blame, the IDF leadership or the soldiers who were on high alert & thought it justified to shoot anyone they deemed to be a risk.

Will be interested to follow this case as more details emerge.

Why did the senior leadership lie again to the world media after it was initially discovered?
Why did they detain the sole survivor and not admit they had detained him until three weeks later and not allowed anyone to meet him?
Why did they claim some were members of Hamas but showed no proof of such serious allegations despite being asked for it?
Lies, lies, lies. These lies have come from the top, not from some low lever soldiers.

Using visual evidence, satellite imagery, audio analysis and interviews with key witnesses, Sky News can present the most comprehensive picture of the incident so far.
Our findings contradict not only Israel's initial account of the attack, but its subsequent accounts as well.

I would really urge everyone to read so the truth of how these innocent people were murdered so brutally by the IDF can be known.

IDF claim: The vehicles were crushed by accident as they were moved off the road

What we know: The vehicles were only crushed after they had been moved off the road

Lie after lie after lie.

I'm not anti-Israel, @Twiglets1 . I disagree with the actions of the Israeli government and military. There's a difference.

Fair enough. Some people say “Israel” when what they mean is the Israel government/IDF but that may not be something you do.

There was never any realistic prospect of them doing so. Assuming your post above is aimed at me, there are many threads about how people despise Hamas. This thread is about the actions of the Israeli government and military. I'd actually been in the process of writing a new thread about the rejection of the ceasefire proposal as there didn't seem to be a specific space for discussion of the recent developments or lack thereof, when the article about Easter popped up in my newsfeed, so I came back to post that and of course have managed to lose what I was writing about the ceasefire proposal and rejection. As I'm now making breakfast and preparing to take DC out, my second attempt (unless someone else has started one) probably won't be much more than a link now. There has been plenty of condemnation of Hamas and other groups by people here.

I haven’t actually seen a lot of condemnation of Hamas by the anti Israel people on these threads.

My post above was aimed partly at you, also at others like @Martymcfly24 who are good to engage with because they do debate in a way that makes me listen to their point of view. I respect your opinions but also can’t understand why there is so little condemnation of Hamas in your posts. There are 2 sides in a war so to discuss the actions of one side while ignoring the actions of the other seems unbalanced.

I think a new thread about the rejection of the ceasefire proposal is a good idea.

Rocknrollstar · 18/04/2025 06:35

Hamas have turned down the latest offer of a ceasefire - 48 days in t return for 10 hostages.

Scirocco · 18/04/2025 06:24

Twiglets1 · 18/04/2025 06:09

Don’t you think Hamas should have accepted the 45 day truce @Scirocco ?

I just don’t understand why the people giving good intelligent reasons for their dislike of the Israel government & IDF ( as opposed to those just spamming stuff from X) don’t also criticise Hamas in their posts?

Israel has offered another ceasefire for 45 days in exchange for 10 prisoners. That would be time to get humanitarian aid into Gaza to provide the help so badly needed by the citizens. Rather inevitably, Hamas has rejected the offer.

Should you not be criticising Hamas for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza alongside your criticisms of the Israel government & IDF?

I’m sure his account is heartbreaking. Working in a war zone must be extremely hard. I don’t need to listen to him to know that.

You may say you have contempt for Hamas but your attacks are directed at Israel.

I acknowledge that Israel sometimes gets it wrong - very wrong - but they are at war and are fighting for survival. Let’s be real - the entire Middle East wants to wipe Israel from the map.

War is war and it’s fudging shit for everyone involved.

And as much as I like arguing with strangers on the internet, we will have to agree to disagree and leave it there.

I would suggest listening to, watching and reading the accounts of the healthcare professionals who have seen first-hand what is happening. It's not about having a general idea of the concept that working in a war zone is hard; it's about the specific acts which go beyond the limits in international humanitarian law. Everyone working in such fields expects to see death and suffering. What is being reported is beyond what many very experienced people have seen before (in other wars and disasters).

Even when a country is at war, there are meant to be limits on what that means the country/ its government/ its military can do. That includes ensuring actions are proportional and necessary with the minimum amount of civilian casualties and damage to meet a necessary objective, fulfilling obligations as an occupying power including facilitating the provision of aid, adhering to rules about when people are and aren't viewed as combatants, treating people humanely when they are detained, etc. Many people are concerned about the multiple reports, including statements from the Israeli leadership, eyewitness accounts, satellite images, etc., which indicate that the current actions of Israel aren't within those limits. Many people are concerned about what it means on a wider level, too, that these limits no longer seem to have to be respected. The limits existed to protect everyone, and the world as a whole is less safe without them.

Martymcfly24 · 17/04/2025 23:40

We'll agree to disagree, fair enough.

Disappointing though, when you asked why my anger was directed at Israel and when I gave an answer and a reason/source for why "you don't need to listen" to it.

Good night so.

@Mumoftwo52

Hamas is a terrorist organization I hold nothing but contempt for.

I urge you to listen to the many interviews from Dr Morgan McGonagle, unfortunately he is Irish so you may not believe him either, about his experience working as a medic in Gaza. It is beyond heartbreaking.

This is why I also hold Israel in contempt, like I would any country that snipers children in the head and bombs displaced people sheltering in tents.

I urge you to think why you find this behavior from a democratic government and military is acceptable.
