Seriously, you can't even give a yes or a no? We are all against extremism and recognise it's threat until it's the type of extremism you see from the Israeli government and their settlers, then suddenly it's a 'conspiracy theory'. Alright Polly.

I see a lot of the same rhetoric parroted uncritically and relentlessly, line for line.

A reviewer in the independent noted the rigidity of the views expressed by settlers in the documentary, and how the same lines are repeated almost ritualistically, making any dialogue with them feel futile.

It almost reminds me a bit of Russian state or Trumpian disregard for truth or reality – a complete rejection of being held to normal standards of discourse. And in a way it’s a display of contempt and disinterest and a ploy to wear down and discourage any opposition or criticism.

The rigid, logically incongruent lines repeated again and again function not as a genuine argument but more as a sort of armour.

So a group of people in NYC may or may not be copying something said in the West Bank, who knows. But it's still a stretch for you to honestly believe that what is happening in Israel makes us all less safe. It does just sound like a conspiracy theory. But while we're on the subject of your conspiracy theories, maybe the hate marches and 'death to Jews' we hear in the Middle East are making things less safe for people

We've seen the same behaviour in the West as in the Middle East, people burning and tearing the Israeli, the British and the American flags, calling for the end of Israel, death to infidels etc. Are you saying the people doing that are a threat to our safety? I mean you said Where else have we seen this behaviour, where else do people assault others and shout 'Death to Arabs' with impunity? Today it's the OPT but if we ignore it, it will come and it is coming to the streets near us. Well, we have seen plenty of mobs screaming death to America, death to Jews etc, I mean in Gaza they weren't just celebrating on the streets on 7/10, but on 9/11 aswell. If we ignore it, it will come and it is coming to the streets near us, right? Mohammed Hijab is on film going through London streets calling for the blood of Jews. Aren't people like that more of a threat to our safety? Are you calling that out too or is your hyperfocus still on Jews, oh I mean Israelis 🙄

All this faux concern and scaremongering about Jews being a threat to our safety in the West is nothing new. Did you know in the 1600s Cromwell tried to welcome back Jews who had been evicted from England years before (like as in actual ethnic cleansing) but people were against it because they said Jews wanted to buy St Pauls Cathedral or that Cromwell was going to give it to them to turn into a synagogue😂and that they were coming to to use the blood of Christian children in their Passover meals. People actually wrote leaflets saying how Cromwell before executing Charles I, had befriended the Jews because only someone who wanted to kill his king would want to learn from those who killed Christ.

We get it, you don't like Israel, but at least come up with something more original than Jews being a threat to our safety. Can you criticise the West Bank without the conspiracy theories?

I have the day off today so just watched the settler doc. What is clear is the daily fear Palestinians live under and the daily intimidation they live under from both the IDF and the settlers. That must take a huge toll on them, living under that stress day in day out for their whole lives.

What I found scary was listening to one of the armed settlers talking and hearing words come out of his mouth that I have read on mumsnet, from what I presume are just 'normal' women like me, so many times. The fact that this ideology is clearly shared by so many in our countries isn't good for any of us, Louis was certainly right there, it's worrying times indeed.

It's crazy. This is what happens when you roll out the red carpet to a man convicted of terrorism and of racist encitement. Hosted in the presidents estate, meeting senior members of the Republican Party, giving talks, meeting with police departnents. This support is emboldening violent, racist people to act like violent racist people. A lady with a brick thrown in her face, a lady surrounded by a hoard of racists assaulting her and screaming racist chats at her. When your know that your government supports this type of ideology and let's face it the US has made it clear that it does then this is the natural consequence of that. Those men perpetrating these crimes know that the US government endorses a man who is openly racist, openly extremist and openly genocidal, why would the government be against their behaviour?

How people can sit with a straight face and say that governments support of this isn't a risk to us is beyond me.

There's an even worst video, of an Jewish Israeli woman wearing a Kuffiyeh (who the mob didn't know was Jewish) who had a brick thrown an her face from a similar mob, causing injury. I haven't watched the documentary yet but I definitely will - I'm a big fan of Louis Theroux and his work.

I have read the Guardian article that @marmaladeandpeanutbutter posted which I found interesting and liked the fact they mentioned that while the documentary was five star, it would have been improved by being more balanced. As the article states, "the peripheral glimpses of Israeli activists who protest against the settlements probably need more airtime, if only to demonstrate that this is a problem of individuals rather than an entire nation".

@ARainyNightInSoho comments that "thankfully" the documentary is not at all balanced but I agree with the Guardian that a bit of balance would probably have improved it. Because it is wrong to equate these ultra nationalist settlers with the whole Israeli population.

Meanwhile our government strikes massive trade deals with China and doesn't say a word about their human rights abuses. English Cricket had a chance to boycott Afghanistan in support of Afghani women and didn't and if our government said anything I must have missed it

What happened in NYC was awful, I don't know how you can blame Israel though 😵‍💫 sounds like an anti-Jewish conspiracy theory to blame all ills on Jews and the Jewish state. The hate marches in NYC have got pretty nasty at times aswell and Jews have been assaulted, the police weren't much good then either
