Yesterday two schools housing displaced Palestinians was bombed resulting in many deaths and injuries. Young children screaming for their parents and parents screaming for their children with many dead. It's just too horrifying for words. I can't comprehend how humans can be so cruel to other humans, not just in this war but with all the pointless killing we are seeing around the world today. I worry about what type of world I am raising my children in.

They all sound mad to me - Trump/Netanyahu/Smotrich/Hamas leaders.

What we need are some moderate women in charge (only half joking).

I could only read the motive is ‘divide and conquer’.

If all the people are massed south they the people won’t be divided, only the land will be.

There is nothing suggesting the north won’t be annexed. Maybe the north will be cleared then taken over by military.

Our hostages will have returned home," he said at the Makor Rishon newspaper's conference on settlement.

Could not agree more. He has alienated himself so much from most foreign leaders (deep down his administration knows this despite his claim of 200 deals-there are 195 countries) that the money that comes with Saudi deals is not going to be thrown away. I think he will prioritize money and deals over a fictional riviera in Gaza that will cost billions to rebuild

They have also reportedly passed on a message to the Trump administration to not bring up any talks on normalising ties with Israel. I read that somewhere but can't remember where now so il have to double check that. With Trump it's all about deals, so if he thinks he might miss out on a deal with Saudi that benefits him because of Israel's actions, he won't hesitate to throw them under the bus or pressure towards a certain direction. The man has no integrity or loyalty so things could still go either way.

It is scary. And we can see from comments by the extremists (Smotrich, Gvir etc) that they are not suitable in any way for government. There is no measured diplomacy just hatred.

I think Saudi will reiterate that the Arab world are not willing to absorb 2 million traumatized refugees.

I have just seen that Trump will also be visiting Saudi so I don't know if that will make any difference.

It's so scary how much power the extremists in Israel hold. Netanyahu didn't move onto the second phase of the deal after the extremists threatened to collapse the government if he did. And now he is moving onto the final stage of the genocide despite backlash from allies.

Reading this it definitely seems Netanyahu is really backed into a corner here. He is balancing between the turning tide of opinion from international allies as well as internal unrest in Israel and the far right elements he needs to stay in power. And staying in power has huge implications for not only his career but his own personal freedom.

Add Trump into it in the coming weeks and I fear an explosive time ahead.

I can't read the replies as I do not have an account but he refers to Gaza as a "festering sore" which is not pleasant.

Smotrich has stated "no retreat from the territories we have conquered" which implies to me that this is the final end game of taking over the area.

I personally think that initially Netanyahu was very focused on getting the hostages back. He was prepared to negotiate with Hamas despite the devastation they caused on October 7th. But it seems like his goals have shifted now.

I think secretly he must now doubt that Hamas will ever release the remaining hostages, or at least not without him agreeing to a temporary rather than permanent ceasefire. A 5 year ceasefire is no use to Israel because Hamas are committed to replaying the October 7th massacre over & over again if they are allowed to remain in power.

I think Hamas had more power earlier in the war and could have used the hostages release to gain more concessions from Netanyahu. But they had to negotiate well & instead of doing that they chose to make spectacles out of themselves with the way they handled the first hostage releases.

Has it occured to you that Israel aren't doing this to get hostages released? You must surely realise by now that none of the increasingly violent tactics used by Israel is getting a single hostage released. You think Israel haven't noticed that?

Also, if I were Netanyahu I would want it to look good when President Trump arrives - show lots of food being given out.

As things are, the hostages will be getting less food than ever too.

The Palestinian civilians cannot influence any of the politics of all this, they are not in control of any of it, they are literally just praying that their kids survive another day. There should be no conditions attached to aid, it's pointless saying "if Hamas did this or that" the aid just needs to go in, and a permanent ceasefire needs to happen immediately. Far more chance of any hostages left alive being able to return to their families that way

France has strongly condemned Israel's new plan to conquer Gaza and have said Israel is in violation of international humanitarian law.
