The government also said it was no longer supplying certain weapons to Israel and it's just been discovered that they lied.

I will add an "In my opinion" and according to geopolitical analysts and generals from around the world.

Its known that Hezbollah destroyed a lot of the IDF monitoring infrastructure at the beginning of the conflict leaving them blind (there are many videos showing this). The IDF has relied on help from it allies since.

So the RAF could be doing it solely to "locate the hostages". We will likely not know for years as reporting will be restricted via a D Notice for national security.

Thankfully, all the visible flights are being tracked and recorded by OSINTs, so if it does turn out to be nefarious there will be a lot of evidence.
