‘Such action would “liquidate the Palestinian cause”. In other words Egypt has admitted that it wants to use Palestinian civilians as weapons against Israel because that is what the Palestinian cause is - the destruction of Israel.’

Why are the people insisting that there is an in going genocide in Gaza, and purport to care about the Palestinian people, not shouting from the rooftops, protesting and marching about this?

Innocent civilians, including children, are being killed in a war everyday!

Isn’t it normal practice for civilians fleeing war zones to be granted refuge in nearby safe countries?

Remember Egypt illegally occupied Gaza from 1948 to 1967. In that time there were no calls for a Palestinian state.

Yasser Arafat, the most famous Palestinian, and founder of Fatah, a paramilitary organisation which sought to replace Israel with a Palestinian state, was an Egyptian who fought alongside the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, started on the same day Israel declared itself an independent state.

Richard Kemp is a retired British Army Colonel awarded the MBE, CBE and Queen’s Commendation for Bravery for service as a commander in the UN Protection Force in Bosnia. He was an infantry battalion commander serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, as well as working for COBRA during the 2005 London bombings and the kidnappings of British nationals in Iraq and Afghanistan so he knows about bit about terrorist warfare.

I don't condone Hamas, legally under international law they do have a right to armed resistance but only against legitimate military targets which clearly did not happen on October 7th.
That said, the Israeli government absolutely do have hostages and evidence has been given in the ICC detailing the torture and sexual abuse that happens in their prisons. There's also evidence showing they potentially were aware of the intended plans and let it happen to give them an opportunity like this. This has been reported by Israel's own media.

What many people don't seem to understand is that the Israeli government pushed for people in Gaza to vote for Hamas instead of the opposition when they were originally voted into power. Money was funneled to them because they knew that Hamas, unlike the opposition agreed with armed resistance and it would further legitimize the Zionist cause.

Even if the Israeli government were targeting Hamas, that doesn't explain the actions they are currently taking in other areas of Palestine not controlled by Hamas. This is just their opportunity to clear as much people and land as they can regardless of who they kill. Do you know they call it 'mowing the lawn'? That's when they carry out an attack on the Palestinian people. They say it's good for the cause to get rid of Palestinians every so often because they can clear the way for more occupation.

And lastly, as I've said I don't condone the actions of Hamas but what would you do? If you were anexed to an open concentration camp, where an apartheid system controls who is allowed to leave, where every peace talks are intentionally collapsed by those you are supposed to make agreements with. When your people are kidnapped, assaulted and murdered just for where they were born. Would you consider turning to an armed resistance? Remember people called Nelson Mandela a terrorist once too.

Rape isn't resistance. Kidnapping babies isn't resistance. Mutilating people and shooting them in the genitals isn't resistance. Murdering a mother and then posing for a photograph for your Telegram channel, while holding her children with her dead body in the background isn't resistance. Shooting an eight year old boy in the head on his way back from a family camping trip for his birthday isn't resistance. You may not condone it so you say, but you've just tried to justify it. Shame on you.

If that were true aren't you angry with Hamas for causing all this death and destruction?

Israel doesn't have hostages, it has prisoners, far different from the innocent civilians Hamas took including children and the elderly. They even kidnapped dead bodies

What did Hamas think was going to happen?

I wonder why 🙄

The Palestinians elected a terrorist organisation to govern them. The temptation to equate them with terrorists is just too obvious. Is it racist to point that out?

I wonder if you even know when the last elections were in Gaza? I wonder if you know that a lot of the civilisns being murdered by Israel weren't even old enough to vote in the last elections?

And to insinuate individuals are terrorists simply because of their ethnicity is racist yes, so the cap clearly fits and you are happy to wear it.

Perhaps the UK should condemn Israel like it does Russia?

Why? Russia started a war by invading a sovereign nation. They went on the offensive.

Israel was forced into a war after being invaded. Israel had to go on the defensive.

Completely different scenario

The Countries are terrified of what happens when they allow the refugees in and are accused of harbouring terrorists.

"Voluntarily leaving" is also a bit of a stretch, I mean its technically correct but its more like leaving the forest because its on fire.

Incorrect. In Lebanon Palestinians caused a civil war and in Jordan they tried to overthrow the king. It's not just to do with fear of harbouring terrorists, although Egypt gave enough problems of their own with the Muslim Brotherhood

Jewishbookworm · 08/04/2025 19:48

I really want to understand how my grandfather, who would have been murdered if he remained in his home country, (Germany) was a coloniser.

Was my grandmothers family colonisers because they left Poland and moved to the UK? Or is that only ok because they just barely tolerated and allowed to stay?

Is a black Nigerian who migrates to Israel also a coloniser?

Where SHOULD we go?

If you could forgo the temptation to equate Palestinian with terrorist then perhaps you wouldn't sound like a racist?

Russian invaded a sovereign country in an act of aggression.

Israel entered a terrorist enclave in response to an invasion, acts of unparalleled atrocities and cold blooded murder on its civilians, as well as hundreds of civilians, including children, babies and murdered bodies, being taken hostage. 59 of which are still being held today.

Just a gentle reminder of that. .

Don’t really see the comparison.

Obviously you do though.

Perhaps you can explain why you think it’s comparable?

Perhaps the UK should be offering sanctuary to all those nice Palestinians, like we did with Ukrainians. What could possibly go wrong?

No countries want Palestinians. Countries that have had previous dealings with them are bloody terrified of them.

CrunchyKnees · 08/04/2025 14:51

Hmm, I think a terrorist organisation planning in advance to, and then making false claims of, genocide when they’ve actually committed a genocide themselves, is (enormously) offensive too, in fact absolutely sickening.

The people who repeat those false claims enormously offend me too.

No, but that they have been used for generations as expendable pawns to fight a religious battle against Israel should offend everyone though surely?

What offends me (enormously) is the amount of people who defend a genocide.

Palestinians are already refugees, IN Palestine. They even have an association specifically to keep them that way. It’s called UNWRA. So how does that work?

It’s time people started to realise that the Palestinian project has been a very, very long game to discredit and destroy the Jewish people.

You are right - it is sad. But the blame still lies with Israel in destroying their land and making it uninhabitable.

But that’s not what this thread is about.

PurpleChrayn · 08/04/2025 09:32

MissyB1 · 08/04/2025 09:08

Palestinians only want to leave because Israel are carrying out a genocide. No Palestinians should be so terrified for their lives that have to become refugees in a foreign land, they should have their own safe sovereign land. And no that does not mean erasing Israel.

If there’s no way to blame the Jews nobody is interested.
