‘Such action would “liquidate the Palestinian cause”. In other words Egypt has admitted that it wants to use Palestinian civilians as weapons against Israel because that is what the Palestinian cause is - the destruction of Israel.’

Why are the people insisting that there is an in going genocide in Gaza, and purport to care about the Palestinian people, not shouting from the rooftops, protesting and marching about this?

Innocent civilians, including children, are being killed in a war everyday!

Isn’t it normal practice for civilians fleeing war zones to be granted refuge in nearby safe countries?

Remember Egypt illegally occupied Gaza from 1948 to 1967. In that time there were no calls for a Palestinian state.

Yasser Arafat, the most famous Palestinian, and founder of Fatah, a paramilitary organisation which sought to replace Israel with a Palestinian state, was an Egyptian who fought alongside the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, started on the same day Israel declared itself an independent state.

Richard Kemp is a retired British Army Colonel awarded the MBE, CBE and Queen’s Commendation for Bravery for service as a commander in the UN Protection Force in Bosnia. He was an infantry battalion commander serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, as well as working for COBRA during the 2005 London bombings and the kidnappings of British nationals in Iraq and Afghanistan so he knows about bit about terrorist warfare.

Israel’s role? Israel withdrew every Jew from Gaza over 20 years ago. Literally ethnically cleansed Jews from the land in order to give it all over to make a Palestinian state. There is an 8 mile border with Egypt in the south as well, so don’t start on me about a blockade, because there is an EIGHT MILE border with a country other than Israel.
Since Gaza became judenfrei they voted in a terror organisation who went on to create an intricate and expensive terror system in order to terrorise and eventually wipe out the inhabitants of Israel “from the river to the sea” (yes, that phrase means the genocide of Israeli Jews).
Then on Oct 7 they did such unspeakable barbaric horrific things that it can’t be realised on mainstream media.
Israel said enough is enough. We give them jobs, electricity, infrastructure (they seem too invested in building terror tunnels than thriving and working for a better future), yet they send over rockets and slaughter our children, AND kidnap over 200 civilians.
So tell me again, what exactly IS Israel’s role in this tragedy? And tell me, why the other Middle Eastern countries, the majority of them Muslim haven’t offered help or support to the Gazans?
Poland opened its borders to Ukrainians - much of the world did. That’s how it works. So why is nobody helping the Gazans? Dubai, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi, the list goes on. Huge swathes of land to offer.
Israel is the size of Wales. It homes 8m people. Most of them Jews.
The only Jewish majority country IN THE WORLD.
i wonder why it gets singled out for so much hate and scrutiny.

This has been answered repeatedly on this board and the conversations have progressed with acknowledgement of some pro-Israeli posters that there are questions for the IDF and Netanyahu’s government.
I am sorry if the trauma of 7/10 makes it difficult for you to understand the concerns of the international community and the even those who support Israel.

I would gently point out that Jordan, kuwait, lebanon and egypt all have experience with militants arising from Palestinian diaspora. Either attacking the country itself, getting involved in civil conflict or attacking Israel from their host country. They also don’t much care for political correctness so aren’t really going to give a shit if it makes them look bad not to take palestinians. Thats the problem. Obviously it is not the fault of civilians but you just have to look at Hamas use of child soldiers, you would have to comsider 13yr old boys a potential threat. It’s fucking awful for Palestinians who just want to be able to live a decent safe life. But no-one wants a security threat within their borders. The neighbouring countries have enough problems. The UK has an insane number of people on watchlists I’m not sure we have the capacity to actually vet all males adequately.

I agree & think that all countries would probably be worried about taking Palestinian refugees, including UK, Germany etc.

Because of the security threat of Hamas being amongst them.

Israel gives their citizens 100s of 1000s of dollars to move out of where they were never invited to live in the first place because the cost of them living and trying to expand where they weren't invited was too much = ethnic cleansing.

Israeli government and military say things like they are fighting “human animals.” Making Gaza a “slaughterhouse.” “Erasing the Gaza Strip from the face of the earth.” They destroy pretty much all healthcare facilities, block all aid, kill more children in a year than have been killed in all other conflicts worldwide in the past 4 ≠ genocide

It's fascinating to watch the twists and turns of some people's minds.

I think firstly they just don’t want to take the burden of refugees, secondly there is a security risk that hamas will come in with civilians. The reality is neighbouring countries regularly take refugees during times of war.

I just don’t think there is as much empathy as people claim there is. They could allow some in and then resettle them back in Gaza after this is over. I think it takes some mental gymnastics to claim that you aren’t taking the refugees because you are actually trying to help them. Egypt also has an agreement with Israel over the Sinai and the last thing they need is hamas turning up in Egypt and using it as a launchpad for attacking Israel. happened to Lebanon and it was a godawful mess.

The claim that people are trying to “help” Palestinians is the reason so many in Lebanon live in poorly resourced camps and are blocked from owning a home and accessing certain jobs. The reality is they could have any point said “look if you want to become Lebanese you can do that, you can be a full citizen if you want, if you don’t want to and want to wait for a Palestinian homeland you can do that”. But they don’t want Palestinians to be able to access that. It’s shit for those people. It’s a stick to beat Israel with, it’s not in the interests of Palestinians at all. Generations of people left in limbo.

The west however do offer citizenship eventually to many refugees. If you believe that it’s in the best interests of Palestinians to be forced to stay in Gaza or not be given any other avenues then you should also supports a complete ban on Palestinians obtaining travel or citizenship to any western country too. otherwise you are just a hypocrite. I feel sorry for Gazans, they have a really shitty hand and their “supporters” often don’t do them any favours either.

Thanks for the history lesson. Perhaps Germany and UK can take the Palestinians - as they too once played a role in what is currently happening in ME.

Amazing the unwillingness by some reflect at all on Israel’s role in the current tragedy in Gaza. Doesn’t bode well for a peaceful future in the region.

I completely agree OP.

In all other conflicts e.g. Ukraine other countries have allowed refugee status so why not Gaza? We have no real idea about the numbers who would wish to seek refuge but realistically there are many. I have written previously that a perma war between Israel and Hamas can not leave a land that is hospitable from a general economic and health perspective so in effect it is a cruelty to not allow the migration of Palestinians.

The migration of Palestinians will in my opinion diffuse the threat of further terrorism while allowing a reset in the middle East which in the long term will lead to greater security and prosperity for all. The Arab League have made vague commitments to reconstruction of Gaza with a figure of 50B for 2M people which is around 25K per person which cannot account for modern housing and health care so there is no serious plan for a viable new Gaza unless we consider a complete reset of the region to end decades of war.

Opps missed out a bit added in bold:

‘They then started another war with Israel in 1967 which they lost again and when Israel took control of Gaza, Palestinians declined to create their own state and decided a better way forward was to terrorise Israel because they wanted all the land ‘ ‘from the river to the sea’ and the annihilation of the Jews, led by an Egyptian named Yasser Arafat.’

It is about Egypt and wider ME response to the Palestinians whose homes and infrastructure Israel’s army destroyed. Yeah - I know that, but Egypt did not cause the issue and have come up with an alternative plan.

You can just take one small piece out of a jigsaw to understand its relevance - you need to see it in context of the whole picture.

Egypt didn’t cause the problem but this thread seems to be about berating them for not solving it and taking in Palestinians.

It’s not like they are abandoning the Palestinians and have proposed an alternative plan.

« The US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, has since walked back the Trump administration’s opposition to the plan. “We need more discussion about it, but it’s a good faith first step from the Egyptians,” Witkoff said to reporters outside the White House on March 6.«

theconversation.com/what-does-egypts-plan-to-rebuild-gaza-involve-and-what-challenges-does-it-face-251567

Actually Egypt did cause the problem when they started a war with Israel in 1948, lost and illegally occupied territory which was supposed to form part of a Palestinian State from 1948-1967.

They then started another war with Israel in 1967 which they lost again and when Israel took control of Gaza, Palestinians declined to create their own state and decided a better way forward was to terrorise Israel because they wanted all the land ‘ ‘from the river to the sea’ and the annihilation of the Jews, leaving Israel with a shitstorm of chaos to deal with for the next 60 years.

Ditto Jordan and the West Bank.

I wonder if you even know when the last elections were in Gaza? I wonder if you know that a lot of the civilisns being murdered by Israel weren't even old enough to vote in the last elections?

And to insinuate individuals are terrorists simply because of their ethnicity is racist yes, so the cap clearly fits and you are happy to wear it.

You are correct. I regard the Palestinians as terrorists or at the least terrorist sympathisers. As does every other Arab, middle East nation which will not allow mass immigration from Palestine. . I don't care if Palestinians not old enough to have voted for Hamas have been killed. That's on their parents. Israel was about to officially make peace with Saudi Arabia. The Hamas money men in Doha couldn't allow that. That's what the massacres were done for. For that precise reason. And done, deliberately, in such a vile and barbaric manner, that the Israelis would over react. Which is what happened. After mass demonstrations in support of the butchering of babies, by the poor, peace loving Palestinians.

What a hideous racist comment. Shame on you!

Look at the history of the murder, insurrection conflict and terrorism that has been inflicted upon any country to offer shelter to Palestinians.

Egypt don’t want Hamas.

Who can blame them. Bet they’re feeling a bit silly for refusing Jews now too.

What is especially galling about this is that it is believed that a lot of Gazans origins are from Egypt. The most common surname in Gaza is apparently Al-Masri which means ‘the Egyptian’. A lot of other surnames are derived from Yemen, Lebanon and the Arab Peninsula.

We know Yasser Arafat was an Egyptian.

Population of Gaza at the beginning of the Egyptian occupation in 1948 was 80-85,000 and an
Israeli census in 1967 put it at 355,000, although there are reports it could have been up to 450,000. That’s a 317% increase at the 355,000 figure in under 20 years whereas the average global birth rate percentage from 1948-1967 was around 4%.

From research it’s not clear how much of that increase was from movement from Egypt into Gaza or extremely high birth rates.

It’s a massive cop out from Egypt to say that they are concerned Gazans won’t be able to return to Gaza if they take refuge in Egypt, when the most of the whole world currently believes they are victims of a genocide.

Why is it racist? Go do some research and try to understand what happened in Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt when they opened their doors to them. It’s ignorant to base your opinions on your own personal privileged perspective. Also, if you’ve ever repeated anti Israel propaganda then you’ve been hideous and racist too. Gasp! Surely not!!

You are right - it is sad. But the blame still lies with Israel in destroying their land and making it uninhabitable.

Their reasons for wanting to leave are not limited to the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel; they run much deeper. For decades, Gazans have suffered under Hamas's leadership. They want safety, freedom, financial security, and quality education. None of that will happen as long as they live under Hamas's brutal rule.

Bringing back the thread to the title. Over 50% of Gazans want to leave.

It’s interesting some want to go to Germany and not to Egypt or Jordan.

It is also interesting how people advocating for the Palestinians don’t want them to leave, pretty much like at the beginning of the war, the border with Egypt was kept closed and they were not allowed to flee the war.

Rape isn't resistance. Kidnapping babies isn't resistance. Mutilating people and shooting them in the genitals isn't resistance. Murdering a mother and then posing for a photograph for your Telegram channel, while holding her children with her dead body in the background isn't resistance. Shooting an eight year old boy in the head on his way back from a family camping trip for his birthday isn't resistance. You may not condone it so you say, but you've just tried to justify it. Shame on you.

No that's not true. I don't agree with anything they did that targeted innocent people. I understand why as a group they exist and I understand the law that allows them to fight against Israel but only when they target legitimate military targets. Anything outside of that is disgusting and unacceptable.
Equally though, the Israeli government is guilty of exactly similar crimes, on a larger scale and yet you don't seem to condemn their actions against innocent people who have nothing to do with Hamas.
