Has anyone watched No Other Land by Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham & Palestinian activist Basel Adra?

Just that, really. I’ve been meaning to watch No Other Land after a friend highly recommended it. She said Basel Adra, the Palestinian journalist, one of the co-directors, shares eye-opening insights and footage on X (formerly Twitter) about the experiences of those living in the West Bank.

I’ve been told that it documents the forced displacement of Palestinian communities in the West Bank, apparently with both directors offering a unique perspective from opposite sides of the conflict.

For those who have seen it – what did you think?

Some of us do chat on mn about others things and it's quite nice if everyone realises that but sadly some don't. I won't mention names but easy to see frequent citme poster derailing on non gaza threads. I pointed out on that thread that she'd be unhappy if similar happened on the citme threads. We're all not totally obsessed with gaza and do chat about others things 🙄

They are surrounded by countries, full of those who hate them & that want to wipe them off the face of the earth.

I don't think the film is suggesting there isn't a place for Israel to exist. It's showing what is happening with occupation and extremists. In most circumstances today, people tend to view occupation and extremist violence as not being particularly acceptable. They still happen, though, so it's important to be able to recognise them and discuss them.

Why do you think it's a propaganda piece?

Well according to them it's just propaganda even when it's Jewish people who are coming forward to speak out against it.

Well said. The Palestinians have been oppressed, raped, murdered and otherwise brutalised for the last 76 years. After seen the horrors that have been inflicted on the Palestinians for over a year, I have zero doubt that nothing happened on October 7th that hasn't happened to the Palestinians after October 7th and the 75 years before.

Thanks for sharing. It’s absolutely horrifying that the IDF can be so cruel and there doesn’t even seem to be any justification for it and there usually is. I don’t understand the need to exert their authority in such a way.

@EasterIssland Thanks for sharing this. I’m surprised that the film is now being accused of propaganda by the Miami Beach City Commissioner. I also didn’t realise that the Israeli culture minister called it “sabotage” especially since I saw it as a hopeful attempt to highlight the possibility of peaceful reconciliation, given that it was co-directed by a Palestinian activist and an Israeli journalist.

This was 2022. These Palestinian people will understand those soldiers as being terrorists.

That’s the thing @ScrollingLeaves. There’s a noticeable disparity in how these incidents are covered, one would need to seek out sources, with certain narratives being amplified while others are downplayed or ignored. The situation is far more complex than is often presented. When do Palestinians have the right to defend themselves? What means are available to them? What legal recourse do they have? And what are the actual consequences for settler violence? It often seems that any repercussions are minimal, creating an ongoing cycle of injustice. The lack of clarity and accountability is deeply concerning.

@Lisaloobylou The fact that settler violence is still going on and there have been retaliations because of this film shows that more awareness and accountability needs to take place. But when you have Trump with his weird AI video of Bibi and him sunbathing, erecting a golden Donald statue etc. and then you think, what hope do innocent Palestinians actually have? I personally can’t get over the recent satellite images of Palestine and to see the devastation caused on such a wide scale and to know that there is still settler violence in Palestinian communities where they are just living their lives, it’s such a sad state of affairs.

Biden impossed some sanctions against some of the settlers which trump has removed
one of trumps new governments member said this land belongs to Jews because of biblical reasons.

when you’ve extremists in the governments (USA and Israel) that support settlers there is little Palestinians can do to protect their houses
