They voted a proscribed terrorist organisation into government. Their ethics and morals are in the gutter. How anyone can support them is beyond me.

What has also made me so angry and revolted, beyond that grotesque stage set, is the footage of thousands upon thousands of Palestinians, lining the streets to cheer and jeer and record images of the coffins. They clamboured on the vehicles.

It creates a combative narrative on this platform and across others that continues to drive the divide.

It sickens my heart to think what this family and others have been through.

But to have sympathy for both sides does not make one an apologist.
Which I think these threads always descend into.

It's been horrific from everyone's perspective.

It's based on a video of a terrified mother and her very young children being kidnapped by an angry mob.

Much as they seem to have been enjoying a well-fed easy life in their tunnels, hiding behind their own civilian children, I very much doubt that Hamas are having a good scroll through Mumsnet.

It’s the fact that this had to be done though - that it was within the realm of possibility they would booby trap the coffins of toddlers they murdered - that tells you everything you need to know about Hamas though. Utter scum.

The coffins were x-rayed before the ceremony began (the chief rabbi of the army read mourning prayers before they returned to Israel) in order to check there were no tricks or booby traps, so I imagine that things at least appeared to be in order. However much Hamas are sadistic and cruel, I don't think they want to torpedo the continuation of the deal.

The tragedy does not need to be elevated by such speculative nonsense, especially today.

It's this kind of combative language that will ensure the suffering on both sides continue.

I would also add that in the midst of a 'genocide' and 'ethnic cleansing' Hamas seems to have impressive access to printing services.

There will be a forensic examination so it's probably best not to speculate.

I can't help but wonder if there will be another cruel mind game, e.g. the coffins being empty or the remains having been cremated.

I've seen a video online of Ariel being introduced to his baby brother for the first time and it is now so heartbreaking.

Let's not forget that it looked to be Palestinian civilians who kidnapped this family. The mob probably killed them straight away.

Whatever your opinion on who is right/wrong or who started it this is absolutely awful and I hope the family at least get some closure
