After seeing masked, uniformed well-fed Hamas soldiers humiliating emaciated hostages, does anyone even feel a shred of sympathy for them? Can’t they even understand how bad this looks and what the consequences will be both for themselves and, more importantly, for the rest of the Palestinians? It would be hard for them to be as thick as they are evil, because they are extremely evil, but I think they might have achieved it…

unfortunately as has been shown by Hamas a lot of the “ordinary citizens” do support Hamas and the barbaric treatment of Israelis. On another thread there was a particularly disturbing picture of two Gazan girls dressed up and clapping at the parade of the poor hostages on release.

The more barbaric Hamas are the Norse support they seem to gain. It’s very worrying and disturbing.

This. And it’s why their neighbours wouldn’t help them. And it wasn’t just those living in The Gaza, we all saw the posters of hostages being ripped down, with endless demonstrations supporting the absolute savagery of 8/10, all over the western world. I’ve absolutely no sympathy for them.

Agreed, how anyone can support them is truly baffling. Part of the problem is Hamas lie, the lies are proven to be false but people are too stupid or ignorant to realise and continue to perpetuate the now disproven lies.

I also strongly believe that if Israel were populated by any other people, there wouldn’t receive close to as much hate.

Inevitably they are always fighting for power, and their "own people" have no more value to them that those of the "opposing side".

I find both what Hamas have done, and what the Israeli government has done, entirely abhorrent. But what is more disturbing is that these terrorists are parading themselves in front of the worlds media as if they are something special in their hoods. Cowards hide their faces. Are they too ashamed to be seen for their true selves? Or unwilling to make themselves the targets of retaliation that they have condemned their innocent fellow citizens to?

Hamas, Hezbollah and their Iranian puppet masters are all thoroughly wicked. But as I don’t live in the region I can’t say with certainty that all those who support them are just as bad.

What is clear as day, though, is that the useful idiots in this country who are part of or who support the Palestine Solidarity Campaign are all either bad or very, very foolish or both. The Israeli government is under much more pressure from their population to get people back than Hamas are from theirs. The Gilad Shalit deal would never have happened otherwise, and he got over 1000.

Until yesterday, I had thought Hamas had been fairly sensible in their behaviour during the handovers. Ignoring any moral side, because Hamas do, unlike PIJ they had the brains not to physically endanger the hostages during the release. They wanted to attempt some manner of flex, so they chose instead to humiliate the hostages and the Red Cross. Hence the certificates, weird glitter woman and so on. They also had the brains not to give Yarden Bibas one of the goody bags. That made sense to me.

Then this weekend changed all that. And they've known for a few weeks this was happening, so they could've chosen to feed the three men more, and let them see sunlight. Yet they've not. One has to imagine there was a reason for that.

I think they may live to regret making Eli Sharabi stand on stage saying he's looking forward to seeing his wife and kids again.

Hamas seem to be keen to show that they will not stop fighting. Definitely these handovers will further damage an already delicate ceasefire. Between their actions and the words of Trump and the Israeli government, it’s hard to see any hope for the next phase of the ceasefire.

I think the issue is that a lot of people thought issues were nuanced and that the ordinary Palestinians weren’t as radicalised as Hamas. I think some aren’t but I wonder how many. How did ordinary Palestinians allow these hostages to be so mistreated in their midst?

I know that the average age of Palestinians is 19 and many have grown up only knowing Hamas and just seeing the IDF come in to mow the grass.

I also think that not many realise how Israelis often see the nuance more than some of the radical religious diaspora. Some have had Palestinian friends and neighbours. But this hostage release ‘party’ is just going to harden their position. There is a massive difference in knowing something intellectually (Hamas are cold blooded killers) and seeing it viscerally.

And seeing Hamas emerge in their expensive new 4x4s in clean uniform that they had been too cowardly to wear during the actual fighting, well fed and in some cases plain fat, does beg the question of how on earth to have a two state solution and deradicalise those in Gaza.

who are you talking about now? Because I’m not sure the Iranian government is going to be moved by the scenes.

Otherwise, I’m sure that the countries that are condemning Trumps plan will continue to do so. It’s always been their position that you can’t punish the whole population for the actions of a terrorist group.
