American proposal to clear out Gaza

The Egyptian embassy in the USA retweeted this article in The Hill by their ambassador from when Biden’s administration last floated this idea:

"In these trying times, as tumultuous events unfold in Gaza and Israel, the global community is seeing a poignant reminder that lasting prosperity cannot be achieved at the cost of another’s misery...
........."the evacuation of over a million Gazans within Gaza is not only impractical but also runs counter to these legal obligations of an occupying power, and would precipitate a humanitarian catastrophe. This evacuation call further defies the notion of the two-state solution grounded in fairness and justice. Stripping citizens of their homeland and rendering them perpetual refugees does not move us closer to a permanent political solution but rather repels and fuels tormented sentiments of anguish, and thus reactions in the form of violence out of vengeance."

He's more than just some random and Trumps son in law he was a senior advisor to Trump when he was last president. He was: "the primary Trump administration participant for the Middle East Peace Process, authoring the Trump Peace Plan and facilitating the talks that led to the signing of the Abraham Accords".

Also he often suggests an outrageous idea as a way to get away with an idea which is less outrageous but still terrible.

I don't think anyone should underestimate Trump. I read an article today about his phone call last week with the Danish prime minister Mette Frederiksen, the phone call was described as horrendous,

"Trump was said to be aggressive and confrontational in his attempt to take over the island. Before, it was hard to take seriously, but I do think it is serious and potentially very dangerous.
Trump was reported to have threatened Denmark, a Nato ally, with targeted tariffs, essentially taxes on Danish exports to the US"

He says things to shock and then sees how much he can get away with. Whose to know what threats he can use to try and get what he wants in the region.

I think it's an idea rather than intention, but even that is pretty bad news. Trump has no understanding at all of the situation in Israel/Palestine and is not going to do anything positive about it.

Egypt is also currently in a precarious situation and easily destabilised. The Muslim brotherhood is on the move again and factions involved in the recent Syrian overthrow of Assad have been making moves in Egypt. With a population that is unhappy with Sisi for not doing enough for Palestine, it wouldn't take much to execute a regime change.

The history and the security situation were also vastly different. I don't think anyone thinks that a 2SS is possible at this point in time, which would be the equivalent.

So there isn't going to be a UN resolution passed for it. But there was 2728 regarding a ceasefire. There's huge, ongoing pressure on Israel.

How do Kushner's words undermine me? He talks about moving people out in order to rebuild... he seems to think it would be temporary, and it's pretty obvious that he's thinking from a property developer viewpoint rather than anything more serious. But most importantly he shows himself to be completely clueless, and just throwing out some off the cuff ideas. Do you think he even knows that the Negev is a desert? Sadly, the rich Arab states see Palestinians in the same way - much as many in the UK see Irish travellers and Roma.
I am SMH at Trump expecting neighbouring countries to take them in, while simultaneously deporting migrants from the USA.

Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the Security Council Resolution 242 backed by the Lyndon administration to urge Israel to withdraw from Sinai, You equate this with Biden's unconditional support for Israel with Gaza and the billions of dollars worth of arms every few months? The prospect of a never ending war with Egypt and enormous international pressure at the time on Israel to accept the deal is hardly the same situation as with Gaza.

This was almost a year ago.. almost as if he could see into the future and predict what Trump was going to say ! With the same talk about “cleaning up” 🙄
