Are we surprised? I mean this happened multiple times last time. I do wonder if the media will report.

Totally expected, not surprised at all. This was never about eradicating Hamas, it's about eradicating the Palestinians.

Exactly !!!!!

Without a shadow of a doubt

How can anyone claim otherwise is beyond me 😞😞😞

Well said @Auvergne63

Some people on here really need to open their eyes and then they will see the truth

mouthpipette · 22/01/2025 19:04

@SharonEllis I'm flattered you took so much trouble. You went through my posts back to May last year!! Wow.

It didn't take that long to do the search, in fact it took less than a minute and it really wasn't any trouble. Please feel free to carry on posting, as I'm happy to correct anything that I feel may be inaccurate. But also please bear in mind that I only have so much free time.
Thanks.
Yours etc.
Mouthy.

You took all that from my 3 word comment?

Indeed. Am I wrong?

Bpe · 21/01/2025 00:00

It’s unbelievable but at the same time expected. I don’t think anything could surprise me at this point.

Sadly it’s like warring dogs- any excuse and they will be attacking again without warning.

Both sides seem incapable of keeping the peace.

It’s awful for civilians caught in the inevitable crossfire.

Comedycook · 22/01/2025 16:21

Auvergne63 · 22/01/2025 16:18

Explain how we, posters on here who condemn the slaughter of civilians on both sides, are brained washed?
We have eyes. We can see what has been done to Gaza.
Do you think the pictures, the satellite images and videos are all fake?
Do you think the testimonies of numerous medical staff are lies?
Do you think this is just Hamas propaganda?
Do you think Netanyahu is innocent of war crimes and crimes against humanity?

You took all that from my 3 word comment?

GentleScroller · 22/01/2025 16:19

hellohellooo · 22/01/2025 15:24

Not one bit @Comedycook

It's called SPEAKING THE TRUTH

It's more than speaking the truth; it is about being honest, building relationships, being authentic and responsible, and understanding the context of what has occurred in the past and present.

You've suggested your Jewish friends lack independent thought and mindlessly follow someone else's beliefs. Why insult them like that? Do you mean to offend and belittle them?

They may think you are targeting them because of their national heritage. A heritage over which they have no control over.

Remove the extremist voices that exclusively refer to the disparity between the two groups of people affected by this crisis, and then maybe you can have an open conversation with them.

Conflating nationality with approval of government policy seems to be almost an exclusively Israeli-targeted activity. Stop demonising the State of Israel, and engage and debate regarding the Israel-Palestine conflict.

You will not agree on everything, but you might reach an understanding. Hopefully, you'll be able to renew your acquaintance with your Jewish friends and come to some understanding.

I am amazed at the excuses for a hellish country that would kill so many innocent people

@SharonEllis
I think its a bit more than an annoyance. The list here gives names, ages and the circumstances of their deaths. www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/comprehensive-listing-of-terrorism-victims-in-israel

Again your own petard has lifted you high. Look at that data and see that fatalities and injuries from rockets were relatively insignificant compared to the far more viscous, barbaric and inhumane campaign of suicide bombings that was regularly causing death and mayhem over a decade between around 1996 and 2007. The suicide bombings were, by far, the main concern for Israel.

Why that campaign of suicide bombing stopped, I don't know. Israel claims it is because of increased and effective control of its borders, Hamas claims that it was losing them international sympathy and was not achieving its desired goal.

My post which referred to
'bombings, stabbings, car rammings and people killed by rocket fire. The latter would be much higher if it wasnt for the iron dome.'

I'm not sure why you think people killed by rocket attacks are more important than people killed by terrorist attacks inside Israel, but there you are.

Since September 2000, Palestinian terrorists attacks have killed at least 1,489 Israeli civilians not counting the 1000+ killed on 7 October or police or soldiers. It includes older people & children.
Hundreds more have been wounded.
these attacks were bombings, stabbings, car rammings and people killed by rocket fire. The latter would be much higher if it wasnt for the iron dome.

Since 2008

Fatalities in Gaza 5k
fatalities in wb 1.8k
Israeli fatalities 350. I guess this doesn’t take into account those killed by Palestinian terrorists which I assume is your 1.5k. So around 1.8k

palestinian injuries 160k
israeli 6k

Now do number of rockets fired into Israel in that time period.

Probably hundreds, doing relatively little damage, but causing a great deal of annoyance and expense for Israel and even more annoyance at the expense itself. They were all part of the continuous aggravation on both parts. There was no effective ceasefire in place. It was all part of the miserable situation that had been festering since ........... well, you put your date on it..... I know mine.

I suppose it depends on one's definition of breaking a ceasefire, this had been happening just prior to Oct 7th 2023.

8 May 2023
Airstrikes on the family homes of Palestinian Islamic Jihad members in the Gaza Strip killed 13 people, three alleged militants, and 10 civilian family members.[37] reports on the total number of dead ranged from 12 to 15.[38][39] The dead included 4 women and four children.[40] Israel described the militant members of the targeted families as "kingpin terrorist".[37] They were in response to fire from Islamic Jihad, that was in turn in response to the death in Israeli custody of a member of their political wing, Khader Adnan.[38] Israel claimed two of the men, Jihad Ghannam and Tareq Izzeldeen were responsible for attacks in the West Bank.[41] There has also been recent rocker fire from Gaza.[42]
22 to 24 September 2023
There were three days of Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip in late September 2023.[43] Dozens of people were wounded on the first day.[44] Earlier that week Israeli forces shot protestors at the border, as they threw explosives at Israeli posts.[45]

Sorry about all the formatting, but you get the gist, I hope.

Israel is entitled to protect its own security at any time. Attacking terrorists in limited operations is not an all out war. Nobody said there was complete peace before 7 October.

I refer you back to the actions of Hamas who broke the previous ceasefire with their attack and declaration of war on 7 October.

There was actually no ceasefire in place prior to October 7th, which just goes to show that you were right. Randoms on the internet shouldn't pronounce on such matters.

I'm flattered you took so much trouble. You went through my posts back to May last year!! Wow.

Anyway, there was a ceasefire on 6 October. Its not me saying its just a fact. Trying to make out that people on this thread, who are not signatories to the deal, can decide whether the cessefire is broken really is the silliest thing yet.
