Hamas and Gaza celebrates

If you were born under occupation into an extremely restricted life due to collective punishment by Israel and had endured Israeli bombardments throughout your lifetime would you need to be indoctrinated to not like Israelis? I say Israelis because I have noticed that in the same way Israelis call Palestinians 'Arabs', Palestinians call Israelis 'Jews'.

And I think as a swagger & show of strength. Chilling.

Awful. Also the footage showing crowds surrounding the vehicles carrying the hostages and jeering at them.

The hostage handover scenes were a hard watch as well, but at least they are home safe now.

And given that Hamas is a proscribed terrorist organisation in this country precisely because of this, noone should be deleted on here for saying it.

The 7th October was not the evil deeds of a few bad individuals, it took a collective endeavour by thousands of ordinary people... in the hatred of Jews.

Where on earth have all the 1000s and 1000s of Hamas soldiers come from then?
People defend the actions of Palestine by saying the elections were years ago, but most of the Hamas fighters I have seen have been young men. They are indoctrinated since birth and until there is complete deradicalisation, the hate will still be there and Palestinians will suffer from a government who hates Jews more than it cares about it own people.

Before Israel, Palestine and Jordan were formed, there was British Transjordan. There had never been a sovereign Palestinian state to “steal”. The existence of Israel is no more a theft of Palestinian land than the existence of Jordan is! None of them was a sovereign nation

This land was home to many people, who were forced off it, killed, tortured, sexually abused and imprisoned. Land was stolen, confiscated and its people were illegally displaced and continue to be until this very day. Please, please, don't dehumanize millions of people, by making this simply about land borders.

It should be up to the aid agencies not Israel to decide how much aid goes in. Aid workers are professionals, they would be able to manage it without Israel putting arbitrary limits. If the want 700 one day, 850 the next and 500 the next they should be able to do that. Of course people with experience if humanitarian aid know that it has to be managed and they have also critised Israels arbitrary limits on what they can do. If you acknowledge that aid agencies know best then you must acknowledge that Israel are wrong to put limits on what they can and can't do.

This would represent “a huge increase” from the 40 to 50 lorries reaching Gaza in recent months and be similar to the level of aid reaching Gaza before war erupted on 7 October 2023, drastically reducing relief deliveries.

This is what the UN are aiming for, massive increase from what has been getting through. I have full trust in the UN managing this challenging humanitarian operation well.

Unlimited aid would be chaos - aid agencies will know what level of aid can be managed. Unlimited aid could not be supervised. Hamas would steal the aid (as they have a strong track recird of doing), it would be looted, which has been a problem throughout, and it would not be distributed in an orderly manner. Have we firgotten what sort of organisation Hamas is, how many armed gangs there are in gaza? Im sure the idea come from a place meaning well but ask anyone with experience of humanitarian aid and it has to be managed.

It's a great shame that unlimited aid is not being allowed in during the ceasefire. 600 trucks a day is obviously better than it was but with 9 out of 10 homes destroyed it won't even touch the sides realistically. I saw this photo today and the devastation is just unbelievable. Navigating through the endless destruction to try and help everyone with resources still being limited will be an impossible challenge I would imagine.

UNWRA alone has 4,000 trucks of aid waiting to enter. I really do hope this ceasefire lasts for everyone's sake. The bloodshed has gone on for far too long

I was just saying the same thing to dh. It's so sad that all along there has been so many people waiting and willing to help but they haven't been safe to do so. There has been so much pointless loss of life, trauma and pain over the past 15months. I really hope that everyone entering Gaza to help is kept safe, it must be very scary for them for so many reasons but they are all lined up waiting anyway.

Yes they've been parked up there since last week. Non sensical that they've had to sit there waiting (packed with crucial medical and humanitarian supplies) until a ceasefire agreement before they could have safe access.

I saw a video of rows of ambulances and aid trucks lined up in Egypt waiting to enter Gaza and it made me cry. The relief Palestinians will feel to finally have some help coming for them and their families. I can't imagine.

Only if the Hamas threat wasn't dealt with. Thats obviously true - Hamas's stated intention is to destroy Israel.

I'm not sure how anyone who was posting in between the posts could have missed it. It was said over and over again that a Palestinian state would be an existential threat to Israel.
