Last functioning hospital in Northern Gaza is stormed by the IDF

If it wasn't already clear that Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing in the north of Gaza, then this is the final straw.

IDF soldiers have posted countless videos mocking at the destruction they have caused in the north. The north of Gaza has suffered massacre after massacre at the hands of Israel and after repeatedly targeting the Kamal Adwan hospital, they have now forced them to evacuate after bombing and killing several medics.

Israel orders evacuation of Kamal Adwan hospital in Gaza, medics say - BBC News

The hospital's nursing director says ICU patients in comas and on ventilation machines are being forced out.

Kamal Adwan hospital was raided previously in December 2023, with several medical staff arbitrarily detained and disappeared. Back then, Dr. Hussam was interrogated briefly. At the time, not a single Israeli source accused Dr. Hussam of anything.

None of the medical staff abducted by Israeli forces since November 2023 from Gaza during raids on hospitals and clinics has been charged or put before a trial; those released after enduring unimaginable torture were never charged and did not stand trial. Those still detained remain held without charges or trial under inhumane conditions and at risk of torture.

They have to arrest him and raise suspicion about his involvement with Hamas to justify their assault on the hospital. I trust Israeli interrogators as much as I trust the British interrogators that convicted the Birmingham 6 and Guildford 4.

Martymcfly24 · 03/01/2025 23:07

The IDF has since told CNN that Dr. Abu Safiya “was apprehended for suspected involvement in terrorist activities, and for holding a rank in the Hamas terror organization, while hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists were hiding inside the Kamal Adwan Hospital under his management. He is currently being investigated by Israeli security forces.”

It is nearly guaranteed that he is not being treated well and given a fair trial with statements like this

Plus the fact that he has not been seen in days.

My point is that it's buying into all the bullshit Israel is claiming about the hospital and its director. This thread has shown that it's all fabricated or just doesn't exist.

So casting aspersions about his character feeds into this.

I know you haven't said he's not innocent but saying he may be or he may not, who could possibly know etc isn't helpful, in my opinion.

And there's no chance he'll be treated well or offered a fair trial. That's wishful thinking.

It’s probably wishful thinking. But I’m genuinely hoping that he is treated well and given a fair trial. If not then - then I will definitely say you’re right and I’m wrong.

I hope you’re not right.

What makes you think he might be in Hamas?

I wouldn’t dream of asking you “What makes you think he is not in Hamas?”
I really loathe these type of “gotcha” posts .

OpheliaWasntMad · 03/01/2025 22:43

I’ve absolutely no idea. My heart says he’s innocent because that’s what I’d like to believe

Never mind what I think - it’s irrelevant because I don’t know anything.

The far more important point is whether he will receive justice/ a fair trial

I’ve no idea whether he is guilty or innocent. I just don’t know. I’m inclined to believe innocent because he is a doctor but that might be my natural bias speaking

This is very sad news . I don’t know whether he is guilty or innocent but if he is not kept safe and sound during his detention and doesn’t receive timely and transparent justice then it will be a shocking indictment on Israel.
I will pray that justice is done .

Free Dr Hussam from the occupation. After initially denying that the IDF have detained him, they have now confirmed it without disclosing where he is being held.

A laughing emoji is your reply. Well that says more about you than you realise. I feel sorry for you.

"We can only guess".

Or we can look at the evidence. All those hospitals destroyed and yet there is none. Doesn't take a detective to figure it out.

And if the US say something to back up the IDF's baseless claim it must be true eh. I found that funny. Sorry if that offended you.

Edited to add that you needn't feel sorry for me. At this stage I feel sorry for those who can't accept the blindingly obvious truth.

I imagine if you speak out about a terrorist organisation then you are at risk. Hence, anon is preferable.

There are terrorists and they are hiding somewhere. They may use tunnel network and they may use hospitals. We can only guess here.

An extract from the story of the doctors claims.

"Shortly after the October 7 onslaught in which 1,200 Israelis were brutally slaughtered by Hamas terrorists and around 240 were kidnapped into Gaza, the IDF revealed that Hamas has been using Gaza’s hospitals for military operations, a claim confirmed by the US administration."

It’s odd this U.K. doctor who claims to have worked there for 3 months, 3 years prior to the interview- so in 2020- is speaking anonymously and it’s only been published by Times of Israel.

None of the other international doctors speaking out and signing letters are doing so anonymously.

For information.....

The UN first expressed concern in Feb 2024 after Israel had killed 122 journalists in 5 months.
https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/02/gaza-un-experts-condemn-killing-and-silencing-journalists

How would it be fair for the UN to express concern about the PA killing journalists when they have only killed 1 in 16 months?

Israel was raging at the UN for expressing concern when they’d killed 100+ journalists and said that wasn’t fair. Now they are saying if only 1 journalist is killed in a war zone, concern should be expressed.

So the UN should have expressed concern when the IDF shot and killed 3 journalists on Oct 7th, 2023?

Journalists killed by IDF since Oct 7th 2023= 202
Journalists killed by PA since Oct 7th 2023= 1

Anyone with a brain can see why the first is cause for concern, and the second hasn’t reached the threshold.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/02/12/world/middleeast/gaza-tunnel-israel-hamas.html

This article provides an interesting overview of the evidence around Al-Shifa. Clearly the evidence is contested, but it is plausible that hospitals are being used by Hamas as human shields. My view is that the IDF are not attacking hospitals simply to murder people. It is much more likely that they at least believe terrorists are operating there.

No it’s not at all plausible. This tunnel was built by Israel in the 1980s so it is not a Hamas tunnel. They went straight there while destroying Al Shifa because IDF assumed Hamas would have taken over these tunnels. However they found no evidence anyone had even been in there, but tried to say that Hamas had been doing command and control, but then while evacuating cleaned all trace of them being there but simultaneously managed to leave years worth of dust intact.
https://www.jewishvoiceforlabour.org.uk/article/the-case-of-al-shifa-hospital-hasbara-exposed/

“The Post mapped the path of the tunnel by geolocating the excavation sites within al-Shifa and analyzing the videos frame-by-frame to determine the network’s directionality and length. The Post then superimposed the tunnel routes on the original map released by the IDF on Oct. 27 that it said showed the full extent of Hamas’s command and control infrastructure.
None of the five buildings highlighted by the IDF appear to connect to the tunnels, and no evidence has been produced showing that the tunnels could be accessed from inside the hospital wards, as Hagari had claimed.
In one section beneath the surgery building, two small bathrooms, a sink and two empty rooms are joined to the tunnel. Hagari said the rooms and the tunnel drew their electricity, water and air conditioning from al-Shifa. One room, Hagari said, was an “operational room,” he said, citing the electric wiring as evidence.
The bare, white-tiled rooms showed no immediate evidence of use — for command and control or otherwise. There are no signs of recent habitation, including litter, food containers, clothing or other personal items.”

So if we think there is no Hamas in the hospitals and the IDF know that, what are we saying their motivation is? They’re all just murderous?

They announced their intention, called the General’s Plan.
They encircle northern Gaza, force everyone out by using lethal force. Demolish as many buildings as possible, especially civilian infrastructure and hospitals. Everything needed to survive. Then declare anyone who didn’t escape a combatant and the entire area a kill zone.

They then gradually expand this zone south.

They have enacted this plan and now are expanding south towards the Indonesian hospital.

The General’s plan is illegal under modern day international laws for war, human rights and humanitarian law. Israel was informed of this when they first started announcing it by numerous legal experts in war & conflicts, as well as the UN.

@BadgerInDungarees once again I am not saying it's right. All human life should have equal value.

I'm also not sure what point you were trying to make. It's still not clear.

The murder of this young woman is horrific. There's no doubt about that.

But Shireen Abu Akleh was a renowned journalist with over 20 years experience in prominent media roles. Of course her death got a lot of coverage.

The 150 or so media workers and journalists killed in Gaza got little or none, in almost all cases.

If this conflict should have taught us anything it's that clearly all human life is not equal in the eyes of many people.

@BadgerInDungarees I was thinking more in comparison to how the death of Shireen Abu Akleh was reported.

There is more information coming out though and I suppose it's a story in progress. Perhaps I am not explaining myself very well. It wasn't meant as a dig but a comparison.

Shireen was American. Remember the aid convoy that Israel accidently blew up and killed foreign aid workers? Remember the headlines they got?

That's about Western lives being valued more than Palestinian lives. Look at most of the high profile cases over the years like Rachel Corry or Thomas Hurndall vs the 100s of Palestinians that were killed in 2023 in the West Bank prior to Oct 7 for example, most people didn't even know that that was happening.
