If it wasn't already clear that Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing in the north of Gaza, then this is the final straw.

IDF soldiers have posted countless videos mocking at the destruction they have caused in the north. The north of Gaza has suffered massacre after massacre at the hands of Israel and after repeatedly targeting the Kamal Adwan hospital, they have now forced them to evacuate after bombing and killing several medics.

Israel orders evacuation of Kamal Adwan hospital in Gaza, medics say - BBC News

The hospital's nursing director says ICU patients in comas and on ventilation machines are being forced out.

I agree with this up until your final sentence.
You can’t take all agency away from Hamas . They are responsible for what they do - not Israel

Of course, they are and I should have made this clearer.

stomachamelon · 05/01/2025 21:20

I agree responsibility lies with all those involved.

'82 trucks were collected by international organisations and there are currently 720 waiting for collection'

www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5ypjd7gepmo

Hamas are allowing food to be stolen and sold on the black market. The responsibility lies with them.

Last week, a group of 29 non-governmental organisations said in a report that the looting of aid convoys was “a consequence of Israel's targeting of the remaining police forces in Gaza, scarcity of essential goods, lack of routes and closure of most crossing points, and the subsequent desperation of the population amid these dire conditions”.

From your article. Responsibility lies with both but ultimately it's innocent civilians that suffer.

You kept repeating that you couldn't understand, I thought I would acknowledge it so maybe you would feel like you could stop. What did you want people to do with the fact that you can't understand the concepts being discussed? Why did you keep repeating it if you didn't want it acknowledged?

Why do you think it is not Israels fault that they don't allow enough aid to mitigate Hamas flow into Gaza? They say Hamas are already stealing aid so Hamas are fed already, what does it matter then if they let in enough aid trucks to feed everyone else? If babies were freezing to death and children were starving under your watch and you could stop it by just letting in more aid what would you do?

Edited

Hmm - you don’t address my points at all do you? Your deliberate rudeness means I will not take you or your posts seriously.

I can't remember who said this but "Civilisation is just a thin veneer between civility and civil breakdown".
The Israeli government has removed/destroyed/ controlled the elementary staples of organised, civilised life such as food, shelter, medicine drinkable water, personal security and what do you get? Survival of the fittest. In Gaza, it is Hamas because they are armed.
Am I surprised by this? No.
So yes, the Israeli government is responsible for creating this situation.

And you would say the same about the hostages? Israel’s responsibility to stop or mitigate it ?
The problem with that line of thinking is it takes the blame’s away from where it rightfully lies.
A thief / a rapist/ a murderer commits a crime….but the mitigation is that the victim didn’t take enough action to “stop or mitigate it” …

In some respects you’re right - the families of hostages will want answers about how 7/10 could have happened. However the way you frame this is wrong,

Put the blame where it lies. Hamas has caused untold suffering for Palestinians. Not everything is Israel’s fault.

You said “It's Israels responsibility to make sure that aid reaches civillians in territory that they choose to occupy.”
and “There is no 'but Hamas 😭', Israel are occupying Gaza so the buck stops with them.”

You then said
“Why is this so difficult for you to understand? “

It’s difficult for me to understand because (much as you say Israel occupies Gaza) Hamas is/ was the government of Gaza and is holding Israeli hostages in Gaza. If you blame Israelis for Hamas stealing aid from Palestinians you must also hold Israeli responsible for the Israeli hostages as they held are in occupied Gaza ( occupied by Israelis who by your account are in charge)

BadgerInDungarees · 05/01/2025 20:06

OpheliaWasntMad · 05/01/2025 20:00

I’m horrified that aid is not getting through to Palestinian citizens who are in desperate need.

I certainly blame Israel for some of the conduct in this war .
I don’t blame Israel for the fact that Hamas takes aid meant for Palestinians
What am I missing?

What do you think would have happened if Israel would have let the rows and rows of aid trucks that were parked up along the border ready to deliver aid into Gaza? If they let a steady stream of 100s of trucks into Gaza every day with more than enough food, water, medicine, sanitary supplies, warm clothes, proper tents etc? Do you not think that Israel restricting aid for months and months and months has contributed to this? Israel could flood Gaza with aid, aid agencies would help tomorrow, they could flood it with more than enough for everybody, take away it's immense value, take away people's fear that they are going to die of starvation. It wouldn't cost Israel a penny. They choose not to do it.

BadgerInDungarees · 05/01/2025 20:00

OpheliaWasntMad · 05/01/2025 19:55

So Hamas ( the elected government of Gaza) stealing aid from Palestinians is Israel’s fault?
Maybe Israel is not doing enough to get rid of Hamas - Is that your point?

Edited

Israel need to make sure aid reaches civillians. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? It isn't Israels fault that Hamas steals aid, it is Israels responsibility to either stop it or mitigate it. It doesn't matter who elected Hamas 20 years ago, so long as Israel choose(nobody has been forcing them to do it remember, in fact people have been begging them to stop) to occupy Gaza the people under their occupation are their responsibility. Why do you think Israel should get a free pass and be allowed to have babies that are born under their occupation freeze to death?

My post is true. It is Israels responsibility to make sure aid reaches civillians. It just is. That is the law. What is unreasonable is Israel allowing small babies to freeze to death, allowing children to go hungry, allowing the humanitarian situation to get so bad that there has been a complete break down of society. Israel were warned right from the beginning that this would happen if they conducted this conflict this way. All kinds of aid organisations told them what would happen and Israel accused them all of being antisemitic, tried to shut them down, tried to stop funding, allowed Israelis to trash aid convoys and in some cases bombed aid convoys. That is what is crass and unreasonable not me highlighting their responsibilities under international law.

So Hamas ( the elected government of Gaza) stealing aid from Palestinians is Israel’s fault?

This is a very unreasonable post .
You seem to be blaming Israel for providing aid but not ensuring that Hamas doesn’t get hold of it. Yet you also deplore the way Israel is hunting down Hamas members in Gaza.
Gaza is not like Ukraine or Russia . There is no equivalent of Hamas hiding within the general population .

Also - The use of an emoji in your phrase “there is no 'but Hamas 😭', is crass

It's Israels responsibility to make sure that aid reaches civillians in territory that they choose to occupy.

Ukraine for instance are making sure that they give aid to the civillians in the Kursk region because they recognise that that is their responsibility under International law. If you choose to occupy then you have to follow through on your obligations to the civillians in those areas. There is no 'but Hamas 😭', Israel are occupying Gaza so the buck stops with them.

Of course Hamas are part of the problem but Israel choose to occupy the same place that Hamas terrorists live so Israel have to deal with that whilst looking after the civillians. Civillians starving and babies freezing to death isn't okay and Israel need to start taking their responsibility as occupiers seriously. Like Zelenskyy said Ukraine are 'behaving like humans' and that means humanitarian needs in occupied areas must be met.

This is a very unreasonable post .

Hamas need to keep their house in order. Or are they part of the problem?

Don't think anyone felt that Hamas are not part of the problem.

Lawlessness has also become an issue with the distribution of aid and it is another threat to the safety of civilians as Hamas loses its grip. The lack of aid for over 12 months leads to lawlessness and desperation and a breakdown of society. Gaza is hell on earth.

Yes - it’s one of the difficulties - how to make sure aid intended for civilians doesn’t end up with Hamas

OpheliaWasntMad · 05/01/2025 19:33

Lalaloveya · 05/01/2025 19:05

I saw footage on the news just now of what looked like thousands of Gazans desperately jostling trying to access food from a soup kitchen. It was really upsetting to see.

Of course there's a black market and terrible things are happening. This is what happens when a large population is subjected to genocide and their society is destroyed.

@Lalaloveya What do you think should be done to prevent Hamas stealing the aid intended for Palestinian citizens? Have you any thoughts?
