I will assume you mean that as an hypothetical because it isn’t Gideon Levy’s opinion. He has stated that he doubts the two state solution is feasible for numerous reasons and thinks the international community just can’t admit failure - Israel has never wanted it & doesn’t want it, less than half of Israelis and Palestinians want it in polls, and the reality on the ground has created a fear of unknown. He calls the two state solution a train that has already left the station.

He advocates for “looking for alternative solutions” among which are European models where it is one state but with devolution similar to the U.K., or a Federated version like Germany & the US of states within a nation state.

He has never once advocated for “Israel becoming a Muslim-led, muslim majority” anything.

I don't have a Haaretz subscription at the moment.

But the point is Israel is a democracy and he can't get rid of Haaretz, however much he, undoubtedly would like to. Even Haaretz only condemned the move as 'another step in Netanyahu’s journey to dismantle Israeli democracy.' The cabinet voted to boycott Haaretz and there is no law saying a government has to advertise in every media publication, or give them interviews, or write for them, or share their publications. Every UK government in my life time has at various times cut off relations with some part of the media from time to time. Its not a good look but its also not something to exaggerate.

No newspaper would print an article stating 'scientist states vegetables are healthy'. The scientist that gets published is the one stating ' vegetables are dangerous and we should eat more sugar'

In the same vein a Jew stating that Israel has the right to exist and the hostages need to be returned in full doesn't get speaking engagements or interviews.

A Jew who advocates for Israel becoming a Muslim- led, Muslim majority one state is the one that gets to speak at a concert hall and collect a hefty pay check aka it ain't that deep. (He was also pro Netanyahu for a while whilst it wasn't cool)

And what does Levy think about only 33 of the remaining 98 hostages still held by Hamas being released instead of all if them?

Hmm I don’t see the same kind of response from certain posters when it is interviews with other Israeli journalists or far right politicians posting their opinions on the prevailing views of the general Israeli public.

Almost like Gideon Levy must be silenced despite being a prominent, award winning Israeli journalist living in Tel Aviv known for writing on human rights issues for decades. He won the top journalism award in Israel in 2021, the Sokolov Award. This isn’t a just “any journalist” with no cachet and no reputation. Yes, his comments on the impact of military censorship and the suppression of the freedom of the press in war time Israel causing a brainwashing of the opinions of the general public are pertinent and unsurprising.

Historically, that is what happens in a war torn country, the press becomes an engine of propaganda. It isn’t antisemitic to point out that the Israeli public living in Israel are not getting the same facts, the same footage we are getting and so are by and large going to have a different opinion on the war in Palestine.

You started this thread and posted an interview with an Israeli journalist who blatantly accuses ALL Israelis of living in denial, being brainwashed and living under the belief that all of the Palestinians are terrorists and are Hamas.

I don’t know what motivated you to post this, as you didn’t make a personal comment about the Gideon Levy interview.

The first response to this thread said, ‘very informative and gives a context to this war, and a description of the attitude of the Israelis’

Again, no response from you.

But then the direction of the conversation changed. Others started to criticise Israel, Israelis and the IDF.

That’s when you commented, ‘I think the late queen viewed the Israelis as "terrorists or sons of terrorists”, and ‘I would like to add she made the distinction between being Jewish and being Israeli’.

That made me laugh. I believe it was your attempt to distance yourself from any accusation of prejudice or antisemitism.

You then posted a video that showed random members of the Israeli public being interviewed and expressing their thoughts and feelings about the conflict since the attack on 7th October. Of course, there were criticisms of Palestinians and Hamas; what would you expect?

It got the response you wanted. More and more comments were posted about how Israelis want ethnic cleansing, nuking Gaza, the taking of more land, etc.

For future reference, the State of Israel maintains a national population registry in which every resident is classified by both "citizenship" and "nationality." The citizenship of all Israelis is listed as "Israeli." However, under "nationality," they are defined as belonging to different ethnic and religious groups, among them Jewish, Arab, and Druze.

She understood the complexity of the situation and also knew that British soldiers and the British state colluded with paramilitaries to murder Northern Irish citizens.

Forgiveness is an active process that involves changing your attitude and feelings towards the person who wronged you. Without that there will never be peace.

I respect our late Queen for her compassion and forgiveness. I don't believe she wouldn't have held out her hand to Israelis or Palestinians to help resolve this conflict in Gaza.

Hate can cause stress, anger, and resentment, which can negatively impact the world at large.

This thread has none absolutely nothing but inflate hate and tension.

We know that you know that criticising Israel is not in itself automatically antisemitic. Therefore to pretend otherwise can only come from a position of bad faith.
