You hear posters say that the population of a country doesn't necessarily support the terrorist groups. They are not involved etc. Seems an incorrect statement.

Then you see a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel. Hundreds and hundreds of people retuning to homes waving Hezbollah flags claiming victory over Israel and victory for the resistance. They haven't suddenly decided to support terrorists, they did all along.

Israel were at war with Hamas. Hezbollah just after the hamas attack of October 7th launched missiles into Israel to support hamas. One terrorist organisation supporting another whilst the people support them.

Over a year later finally a ceasefire. So the people of Lebanon, a country not occupied support their terrorist organisation Hezbollah with their 'resistance'. They are cheering a victory. Really deluded people. How can there be peace whilst they support terrorists. Their own government don't appear to run the show there and until Israel hit the Hezbollah leadership were weak with Hezbollah doing what they want.

Makes me realise more why many support Israel against people that cheer on terrorists.

I imagine that are rejoicing in the fact that they aren't going to be bombed and their kids won't be blown up or shot this week. They might starve to death and nor have access to clear drinking water but at least the won't be blown up.

Well exactly. The low expectations from the west of people in middle east is so depressing. Don't the Palestinians & Lebanese deserve better than their current terrorist leaders?

They do.

I agree such low expectations.

Lebanon should take a leaf out of Jordan's book. The Hashemites got rid of the PLO years ago. Lebanon should see the writing on the wall and rid their country of Hezbollah permanently.

I agree. Different countries made different choices. Jordan didn't support the terrorists or their followers and The Lebanon did. Jordan made the correct choice in my opinion expelling people that would take them down with them.

Be more Jordan

I never said it would be easy but there is little hope for Lebanon unless it can gather support to rid themselves of terrorists who can only harm their country even more than it has already done.

I’n so bored of pretending that these terrorist organisations don’t enjoy considerable support from local populations.

This.

This conflict involves both hezbollah and Israel yet the focus and blame is solely on hezbollah supporters, why?
Why are we ignoring the supporters of a government headed by a war criminal? "Maybe if the Israelis made better choices, then perhaps their children wouldn't be suffering today" how does that sound?

Sorry, you've lost me. There are endless threads and posts criticising Israel. But Hezbollah is a recognised terrorist organisation those chose to unilaterally start attacking Israel & Israeli citizens in solidarity with Hamas's outrageous & illegal attack on Israeli civilians. That was their stated intention. Of course there is history but yes there is a lot of focus on Hezbollah's decision to do that.

Who should support them to get rid of Hezbollah? Not every country enjoys the unconditional military support from nations such as the US. It also doesn't address the real concern of further destablising the region.

So the Lebanese army should get rid of a terrorist organsiation better equipped them then? How? There is also a concern amongst some that trying to remove Hezbollah would further destabilise the region and just lead to further death, dispalecment and destruction, it is not as easy as you appear to make out.

Be very careful calling The Guardian antisemitic. It is libellous.

Auvergne63 My response to you was highlighting the fact that there were celebrations by pro Hamas supporters here in London on October 7 and 8, 2023.
As to the Guardian, journalists who worked there until recently called it antisemitic, most notably Jay Rayner who has accused The Guardian of employing antisemites and slammed its editor, Katharine Viner, for failing to address the issue, intensifying scrutiny of the paper’s handling of antisemitism allegations. Rayner, who recently left The Observer after 28 years, condemned the paper in a Facebook message, describing his experience as a Jewish employee as “uncomfortable, at times excruciating.” He claimed Viner ignored the presence of antisemetic staff, stating: “She has not had the courage to face them down.”
I haven't seen any rebuttal of antisemtism from anyone currently at the Guardian so your accusation of being libellous is mute.

On the other hand the Israeli government and their supporters are just fluffy victim bunnies who have done nothing wrong in any of this mess, right?

And yet the Guardian hasn't sued Hadley Freeman or Jay Rayner, who know a thing or two about antisemitism. I think @LetThereBeLove is safe.

I guess you could say choices have consequences. Make better choices. The leadership of Lebanon really need to decide whether they let terrorist organisations such as Hezbollah and support for Hamas determine the way things go for their country or whether they decide to run it for the good of everyone, especially the children.

They need leaders to look at putting their children first, build their country and move from terrorist support to being a great country. What does an everlasting hatred of people in another country achieve. Nothing but grief for the future generations. Peace is the way if they can put aside support for Hezbollah and Hamas

What are you talking about? This is entirely uncontroversial and is evidenced on these threads & on the news all the time. Channel 4 news yesterday or day before showing Hezbollah supporters in Lebanon celebrating the ceasefire. Posters and chants at the anti-Israel marches supporting Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis.

I don't refute Hezbollah supporters celebrating in Lebanon. I have seen it.
I just would like to see proof of these celebrations happening in the UK streets in the last few days. Marches are not celebrations. You might perceive them as such but it does not mean they are. Perception and reality are two different things.

I feel sorry that those poor kids parents didn't make better choices for them. Back hezbollahs constant attacks! Don't be surprised when Israel comes back.

Some countries are able to move on from huge losses eg Germany and Japan without carrying on and being encouraged to carry on years of hatred. Different mindset. Look forward and prosper (Germans and Japanese) or onwards with hatred supporters of terrorists won't improve their lot whilst they support terrorists. Have a better government and spend money improving things for their people or more corruption and rich terrorists leaders. Some countries are stuck in medieval times in more ways than one.

Edited

So blaming parents for their kids being bombed to death? chances are the parents are dead too.

Nothing to do with mindset, (pretty dehumanising statement there) it is all to do with money, support to rebuild infrastructure and society and lets not forget Germany went from WW1 to the nazis and WW2 before it moved on, with west Germany controlled by the Allies and east Germany allied with the soviet union.
