Sorry, you've misunderstood my post Many men & women in Gaza support Hamas and many of those killed will have been active and passive Hamas supporters. I have argued what you are arguing across these threads for the last year.

I think you may need to understand how it feels to live under a repressive regime. My family has. If you want to stay alive, you comply. Only the very brave resist and pay the highest price. My country is littered with reminder of this, in every village, town and city. Yes, some took advantage of this regime. I understand why but it doesn't mean I excuse it.

Do you seriously suggest none of the females killed in Gaza supported Hamas? Hamas also put their fighters in kindergartens, hospitals and schools because they do use the Palestinians as human shields. Hamas also get a lot of support from ordinary Gazans or they wouldn't have been able to build the underground network going under hospitals, schools etc.

The Lebanese government allows Hezbollah to operate out of their country. Many aod workers are members of Hamas who have infiltrated the aid organisations.

Hamas, still has many Israeli hostages. They are even holding dead bodies as hostages. I can't imagine Israel stopping until they get their hostages back. Let's not forget Hamas took these hostages over a year ago now.

I watched Life and Death in Gaza on the BBC.
It was such a tough watch.
Those poor people.
What struck me was how there were no political opinions espoused and I wondered if presenting an apolitical view was the aim, understandable, or if the people involved were protecting themselves from both Hamas and Israel.
Also understandable.

I really hope that the children in Gaza can grow up without a terrorist government and without the control of Israel on one side and Iranian backed countries on the other.

I agree with you. Many Israelis are leaving the country, the highest numbers ever seen, and the economy is heading into recession.

I suspect the war will end when the pressure on Israel's economy grows high enough, coupled with enough military gains and hostage returns for the entire debacle to be called a success. I expect that will include buffer zones, both at the Lebanon border and Gaza. Both sides are traumatised, there's a massive amount of displaced people and nobody trusts each other.

Fuck knows what will happen to Gaza in the long run. I'd love to see it rebuilt as a flourishing democracy, ruled by and for the Palestinians.

Why would the war stop?
Hamas still control Gaza.
They still have the hostages, dead or alive , somewhere.

Sinwar had a plan for Oct 7th. He didn't care what happened next. He didn't care for his people's suffering. He wanted other countries to join in. Other terrorists did join in and still are supporting hamas. He would have loved the support from Western people's that can't possibly imagine his depth of evil.

There was no protection for his people the day after. He didn't consider money well spent protecting them. His words about necessary sacrifice show that. You might think that the more that died the better for his ultimate aims.

Basically, the displaced want the war to stop (who wouldn’t, extremely reasonable want), but still widespread support for Hamas and should the war stop there will still likely be Palestinians led by Hamas in some form with the majority of the people behind them. So my guess is Israel is trying to also wipe out the ‘next thousand leaders’ and ‘next thousands of men’ behind those leaders to actually put a stop to what is otherwise going to be an endless ‘minor war’ (as opposed to what is happening now)? Really have no idea but that’s my guess. I’m not pro or against either side. I’m not Israeli or Palestinian, and am over the other side of the world, so no skin in the game so to speak.

There are bomb shelters everywhere in Israel and children are trained to use them from a very young age because Israel has been under constant attack from Hamas &c for decades. It's one of the reasons they have the Iron Dome, to protect their citizens, who include Jews, Muslims, and Christians.

Israelis have had to get on with their lives under these circumstances for years, so, yeah, people who live in towns and cities on the coast still go to the beach.

Of course, Hamas didn't have a plan for October 8th, they care more about destroying Israeli lives than saving Palestinian lives. This is evident in their lack of shelters for the very people they claim to be fighting for while they build tunnels for their munitions and men.

I also find it shocking to see people enjoying a day at the beach whilst children are being deliberately starved, a few kilometres away from them.

Netenyahu wants Palestine gone and a greater Israel which encompasses Gaza, west bank and at least South Lebanon to replace it. He's making his moves and no-one gives a shit (at least no-one who could actually make a difference and stop him anyway).

The reason there are teenagers on beaches and people in cinemas is because Israel ARE PREPARED.

Many of us were initially stunned at the wanton foolishness of Hamas on Oct 7. But. I believe it was meant to be a small border skirmish. Hamas were expecting resistance, which they didn't encounter due to the internal political turmoil in Israel. Without leadership, or guidance, they ran amok. And filmed it. And posted it all over SM. I believe even Iran went 😬; steady on, lads!

It was so crazy people have even posited that Israel planned it. No. No one could believe what happened.

Otherwise, Hamas would have had a plan for Oct 8th. But they didn't.

If Israel was at 'war' then there wouldn't be teenagers sunbathing on the beaches of tel aviv, mums taking kids to the cinema, twenty-somethings chilling out at cafes, civilians going about their business, going to work, going to school, enjoying themselves.

It is not a war. It is the Israeli government and the IDF obliterating Gaza. They are bringing terror and hell to Gaza. They have destroyed everything - schools, hospitals, jobs, homes, families, limbs, roads, EVERYTHING that made Gaza fit for human habitation has been destroyed, while Israelis enjoy the high-life!

That is NOT war. That is genocide and ethnic cleansing by an occupying country towards the occupied people who it has imprisoned.

I don't think it is gross to say that I hate Hitler and I hate Netenyahu almost as much. In my opinion, both want(ed) to eliminate a group of people (Hitler wanted to eliminate Jews, gypsies, disabled ... Netenyahu wants to eliminate Palestinians). Both have dehumanised a whole group of people. Both use propaganda as a weapon. Both have mass murdered children, women and men and somehow convinced a load of people that its ok to kill and dehumanise a group of people.

Not sure how Netenyahu is not on a par with other mass murderers? So far he's got away with far more than mass murder. I've worked in prisons all my life. I've worked with men who are serving life sentences for the murder of one or two people (as of course they should). Netanyhu has ordered and okay'd the murders of thousands yet so far he walks free. This I wrong. V. Wrong

(And before anyone says 'what about those who killed people on 7/10, shouldn't they face justice ... Yes, yes, of course they should face justice too. But innocent children, men and women should not be paying the price for their actions)
