Offer made to Israel

Lyse Doucet (From our own correspondent, BBC R4, 6/10) reported that last week the Jordanian foreign minister said,

"57 Arab and Muslim countries will, right now, guarantee the security of Israel if Israel ends the occupation and agrees to an independent Palestinian state. "

That's a pretty good offer and I find it interesting that it hasn't been more widely publicised.

You're obviously neither convinced nor impressed by that offer. So what counter offer (that would include the creation of a Palestinian state) should Israel make ?

How can Israel counter a non-offer?

The problem is, the two state solution has been the leading solution for years. If Israel agree to this, Palestine will never allow Israel to exist. Palestine will be recognised as an independent state and they will have no reason not to continue going after Israel once they receive statehood.

How would Palestine stop Israel from existing? Are you really advocating for Israels illegal occupation to continue? Would you keep the apartheid too? Would you keep the violent settlers who seek to stop Palestine from existing and who are aided by the Israeli government and the IDF?

In 1994 US, UK and Russia guaranteed security of Ukraine. As a part of this guarantee Ukraine transferred all of its nuclear weapons to Russia.

As far as I'm aware, Palestine is a state, recognised by 145 UN members. It's officially called the State of Palestine.

Presumably those states or groups that threaten Israel may be aligned (possibly on religous lines) with the other gulf states so I would question the firmness of the guarantees.

In addition the group's threatening Israel are ideologically wedded to its destruction as a state and quite willing to use civilian populations as shields so it would be very difficult for another Arab state to intervene militarily especially with the risk of civilian deaths.

Palestine could offer to guarantee Israel's security by not attacking it.

What will those countries actually do to guarantee their security?

Is it possible for any country to secure their own or any other country's security?
