Why would a genocidal regime vaccinate its target against polio?

Because experts have warned it could spread to Israel.

No.

People shouting "From the river to the sea" and "has the jews" during protests in the UK should be arrested by the police and not ignored.

They should stop knocking on people's doors for things they've posted on Twitter about biological facts and start arresting people celebrating en masse when civilians are raped and murdered and inciting genocide.

There were protests in support of Israel who are according to International Drs are executing children, who are stripping children down to their underwear and using them as human shields, who are gang raping and torturing detainees. Who according to the ICJ have been, for decades, denying Palestinians their right to self determination, systematically discriminating against them, illegally annexing their land and profiting from their resources. Should the people who marched in support of the country shamelessly carrying out these violations of international law be arrested or at least placed on some kind of watchlist?

Nobody seems to have an issue with the people who marched in support of this ^ but wave a Palestinian flag and call for a ceasefire and you are enemy no1.

re: “From the river to the sea….”
It is interesting to read the history of the phrase and how it has been variously used and interpreted in this Wikipedia article.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_the_river_to_the_sea

Netanyahu apparently used the phrase in January 2024 though Haaretz wrote to clarify that :

From the River to the Sea | Israel-based News Outlet Incorrectly Translates Netanyahu's Words, Leading to Media Firestorm
Israeli-based news channel i24, incorrectly translated the prime minister's statement 'Israel must have security control over the entire territory west of the Jordan River' as 'Israel must have control from the river to the sea,' leading to accusations of a deliberate provocation by Netanyahu.

Snopes, though, says that whatever the exact translation, Netanyahu meant Israel should control that whole expanse between the river and the sea.
www.snopes.com/news/2024/01/19/netanyahu-river-to-the-sea/

Previously in Sept 2023 Netanyahu had addressed the United Nations Assembly and held up a map showing Israel marked as being all of that land from the river to the sea. (Screen shot).

The right of the Jewish people to the land of Israel is eternal and indisputable… therefore, Judea and Samaria will not be handed to any foreign administration; between the Sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.—Likud Party Platform, 1977

Has enough been done to tackle incitement to genocide?

"From the river to the sea" has been used by the Israeli government too. I hope you agree that they should be arrested too.

You have lost me here. Care to explain?
start arresting people celebrating en masse when civilians are raped and murdered and inciting genocide.
I don't think that there is enough jail space for the IDF/ the Israeli government all at once in Israel to do that.

@Polka83

The difference is that Israel has long ago lost any moral standing, and no one bar their most ardent supporters is buying their bullshit anymore.

@AhNowTed
Quite. And almost half of Israelis consider it unnecessary for their country to abide by international law or ethical values.

Some posters seem to be missing the point that has been made by @Scirocco and myself.
There were posters who, at the time (I am talking months ago) accused many of us of being Hamas supporters and calling us antisemitic for daring to criticise the actions of the Israeli government and the rhetoric they used towards the Palestinians. That was the point being made.
If I had been, I indeed would expect (and rightly so) to be reported to the appropriate organisations.
What I don't like is to be accused of something I am not and to be told to shut up or else. I think this is reasonable.

It’s interesting how the views on what it is acceptable to criticise have changed on this forum. I think this reflects what is also being reported on main stream media - with eg CNN and Guardian reporting regularly on concerns on the modus operandi of the IDF.

Zzippit · 01/09/2024 16:24

No-one has told anyone to shut up or else. Utterly ridiculous and overdramatic.

And this idea that you're being monitored is ridiculous to the point of laughable. If someone makes themself a prolific poster on these threads, often repeating the same schtick time and again, do you honestly think that username isn't going to register? Are we not allowed to look at usernames now?

I've reported plenty pro-terrorist posts, thankfully HQ does tend to delete those, but don't pretend for one minute they don't exist and you haven't seen them.

Honestly, it's such an odd reaction to feel personally victimised by any conversation about the problems of online antisemitism and pro-terrorism and complain when people want to do something about it. Baffling.

No need for the patronising post I'll do what I want with my day thanks don't need you to advise me, bizarre comment.
Besides you've no idea whether the sun is shining where I am and FWIW it's not

Your question was why did I think it was related to me, not did I know about people being reported (hardly surprising given some of the comments on here) or did I think it was ok for people to discuss comments on a discussion board (of course I do).I really think you should let this go now.

.I really think you should let this go now.

Why? Because your hypocrisy has been exposed? On on hand you have argued about the importance of being able to name change and on the other criticised a poster for feeling unsettled for the very reason you suggested posters should name change!

We are monitored constantly in our every day life. To deny this is "ridiculous to the point of laughable", to quote you.
In addition, does repeating the same schtick applies to every poster or just the ones who happen to disagree with the actions of the IDF?

It's got absolutely nothing to do with anonymity on a public forum. But if you're someone who uses Jewish, Muslim or Black Mumsnetters, you'll know exactly why name changing adds a layer of protection. And that's all I have to say on that, so if you want to accuse people who feel unsafe of using "deceit" then fill your boots but don't tag me in.

Well I would say that it leaves those who don't name change far more vulnerable when there are posters who know a lot about them but they don't know anything about the constant name changers. I am entitled to query the motives of these posters and I also think they can hide behind their name change if they have posted controversial posts in the past which they have had deleted. You can suggest it's to do with protection and feeling safe but I think it leaves those posters that don't name change far more vulnerable

So name change there but that's not what people are doing they are name changing on threads constantly so one day they're under one username and the next under a different one it adds a layer of deception.

Firstly, I just quoted facts. Some posters, at the start of this slaughter, did threatened to report others who dared to speak out against the actions of the Israeli government. I don't have time to go through thousands of posts to back up what I stated. Feel free to do so though.
went on to have a conversation with someone else about how this was unsettling
It is a discussion thread, as you have yourself pointed out in a previous post, therefore perfectly normal.
Crying in the playground?
Ok. if you say so.

I think Im out now, we seem to got into the crying in the playground stage of this thread. Have a nice day.

What does changing a username achieve? It's an anonymous form your username is linked to your account no matter what username you use. I am not sure why changing your username would address feeling unsafe on an anonymous forum? The only reason I can see is that people want to deceive their fellow posters. I don't recognize your username so what have you posted under before? And why would me knowing that make you feel unsafe? If I send you a pm it will still go to your account no matter what username you use

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it isnt real or legit fgs.

And yet you berated a poster for how they felt, oh the irony...

Well my feeling is that changing your username is just to deceive other posters and no I don't understand how it would make any difference to how safe a poster felt when your username is still linked to your account

Auvergne63 · 01/09/2024 11:11

Well this has taken a weird turn. Just for the record I do not work for the security services and have not reported anyone to them for supporting terrorism (though there have been a lot of posts in support of the terrorists, some of which I have reported to mumsnet). I would have thought its an entirely normal thing to remember people you have spoken to before or read their posts and a sign that you are taking them seriously.

Why do you feel this is addressed to you?
