Yes - I do know that Palestinian children are in the midst of a horrendous conflict. They are incredibly vulnerable because of the actions of their Hamas government who has made no effort to protect them from harm. I don’t support all of Israel’s actions but I’m glad the children are getting vaccinated.

The same could be said for Israel can't it? If I remember right you were aghast at the idea of Israel being held to account for violating international law and the idea of countries stopping handing them weapons to continue. Are you up for Israel to be held to account? Are you supportive of the ICC and the ICJ?

Hamas is the government of Gaza. It is their job to protect their citizens. I don’t understand why you think we should hold them to a lower standard than any other government?

What do you want people to say? Well done Israel for allowing babies some really basic healthcare that they should have been receiving anyway? The vaccinations that are desperately needed because Israel have created the conditions to allow polio to return when Gazans worked so hard to get rid of it, the healthcare that is needed to protect the Israelis that don't vaccinate their children? A big clap on the back for benevolent Israel, well done to them.

You don't find it sick that Israel have closed hospitals so that the previous vaccination rate of 99% has fallen to 89%, you don't find it sick that Israel have destroyed so much infrastructure that hundreds of thousands of children are living in unsanitary conditions leading to the spreading of diseases, you find it 'sick' that people aren't clapping Israel on the back. What a world we live in.

There has been plenty of criticism of Hamas, I doubt many ever thought a proscribed terrorist organisation would ever have Palestinian interests at heart but I would expect a modern democratic state to have higher standards and values then Hamas, would you not?

Well… I mean, why is there a polio outbreak in Gaza in the first place? Not because Israel’s done something right.
And a pause in fighting simply means that when fighting resumes, the IDF will kill vaccinated Palestinian children instead of unvaccinated ones. Yay. Winning rhymes with winning!

Of course children should be protected from the brutality and stupidity of adults, that's always a good thing. Nobody is saying it isn't positive, they just don't think that Israel trying to protect their unvaccinated children is proof that there is no genocidal intent towards Palestinians. It would be great to see Israel eradicate polio like Gaza had prior to the conflict, it's awful that in 2024 in what is widely regarded as a modern, cosmopolitan country polio is still is an issue for children.

It's good that children are getting access to vaccinations absolutely, but we have nothing to be grateful to Israel for in this. Their involvement is the equivalent of bringing someone to hospital after breaking their nose.

The point is that they are doing something. We can all agree that's good right?

Yeah, nobody believes they are doing it because they care about the children they have spent almost a year denying healthcare to, bombing, executing, orphaning and traumatising. They are doing it because they have a vaccination problem in Israel with at least 175,000 vulnerable children — the offspring of the ultra-Orthodox, or haredim, who are notorious for their opposition to vaccinations.

Although up until this outbreak caused by the conflict Gaza has been polio free for 25 years thanks to vaccinations Israel still has a polio problem due to vaccine refusal which could be made much worse if it isn't gotten under control in Gaza.

As someone pointed out, and another gave a link to the facts, they are worried it will spread to them, and no doubt worried about the eyes of the ICJ and US public. Their bombs and planes coukd be on the line. It isn’t so easily seen as ‘collateral damage’.

Of course tbey're not. But they are facilitatimg the roll out. Its a funny way to conduct a genocide.

Also, Israel isn't providing the vaccines, UNICEF is.
