Hate speech against Palestinians is the norm for some Israeli ministers, so now that I think about it.. probably not.

The hate speech issue is a good question. It seems that Israel must have very weak or no laws protecting people from hate speech or genocidal rhetoric. Or Palestinians at least. Does anyone have any information on this?

Of course. The average age of Palestinians means the voting population at the last free elections in Gaza must have included toddlers, babies and the twinkle in the milkman's eye if we're going to hold the current civilian population responsible for the crimes of the terrorist organisation that seized power and then prevented free elections in order to retain that power.

It's not considered particularly unacceptable to say such things against Palestinians, sadly. This is what happens when people feel empowered to say the quiet part out loud.

Years ago, I was having dinner round at a friend's house when another guest started talking quite comfortably about shooting and severely injuring Palestinian civilians. How the bonus for him had been getting paid for it when he would have done it for free. This level of hatred and disdain for the lives of innocent people is not a new development. Fortunately, the guest was swiftly advised that this kind of thing was not welcome, but it's normalised enough that it was considered to pass the dinner table test of acceptability.

Hamas just executed six hostages and the Palestinians are complicit by voting for Hamas all that money that has been given to the Palestinians from the United Nations and other groups to make the Palestinians lives better has been spent on weapons and tunnels, there will be no peace until Hamas has been defeated.

Isn't this hate speech illegal? How do they get away with it?

I started out thinking that maybe I couldn’t judge because perhaps I would have got on with having breakfast while Germans were bombed during WW11, without really thinking about the little suffering children properly, especially if they were suffering here and elsewhere too.

But to have gone out dancing when my country was safer and had more fun when I thought of their suffering? That seems actually perverted, and sick to me.

They said the quiet part out loud, a few Israeli's (like Ori Goldberg) have been warning about how a lot of Israeli's really feel about Palestinians and what that means for the future of Israel. It helps make sense of all the "qualified" "I'm sorry about Gaza, but...." statements on this board.

Not thick at all, they were and are actively complicit. They knew/know exactly what they've been sanctioning. People in the region that I follow say everytime Blinken visits look for the escalation as soon as he leaves after giving Netanyahu the Green Light(this time it was the West Bank "operation").
This faux naivety by these folks is because they are trying to wrap this plausible genocide "nicely" by blaming everything on Netanyahu, it was his idea, he is one bad apple etc. Let's get back to business as usual aka occupation and the not so publicly hated "mowing the lawn".
