@Vittuunterroristit
Bernie Saunders is not a randomer- he would probably be in Biden’s place now if it weren’t for AIPAC. And he’s not pro Hamas- he is pro justice. And he’s Jewish himself and proud of it.
Miriam Margoyles was on National radio yesterday here in Ireland expressing her views - she’s a prominent international figure, also Jewish and proud of it. She is not pro Hamas- that is a libellous statement.

The "hate marches" make it unsafe narrative has resurfaced recently and someone mentioned on another thread how legitimate criticism of Israel is being demonised these days.

I found the below on X/ twitter and thought it was an encouraging to hear accepting there is no hate in the vast majority of peace protestors. I also attach the link from a video by Miriam Margoyles for the Australian Council of Jews - which seems sensible and well balanced. I really think it helps to amplify these voices.

So your another one who just happens to stumble across a pro-Hamas anti-Semitic twitter account and decides to post it here.

@SharonEllis

You are wrong. i’ve explained why it is racist.

perhaps you can explain your lack of recognition of the subject of this thread? It’s almost like you don’t want to acknowledge the war crimes of the IDF?

SharonEllis · 23/06/2024 21:47

GlossyChipmonk · 23/06/2024 21:44

@SharonEllis

as with the previous racist poster, to come onto a thread which is discussing the tragic slaughter of innocent Palestinian civilians and 1. Not acknowledge the criminal behaviour by the IDF and 2. Try to deflect the discussion to a different matter is deeply racist. You know that. Shame on you.

Just repeating a ridiculous personal accusation doesn't make it true.

no surprise that you don’t give a shit about Palestinian children being slaughtered by the IDF.

you extreme racism is deeply unsettling.

I haven't said anything remotely racist. Don't be so silly.

@SharonEllis This man was not a regular reporter with AlJazeera. He contributed to a single op ed more than 5 years ago. He was likely a long term part time terrorist writing occasional propaganda pieces for an on-line ( and I suspect, Iran backed), US publication.According to the Times of Israel, he was previously a spokesman for the Gaza labour ministry in the Hamas run administration and his family had strong ties to the organisation at a number of levels, so a single op ed would obviously have a public interest aspect in the sense that if you want to know what’s going on in Gaza you’d ask an Hamas insider.

However, it seems that the piece in question was more of an advocacy/ propaganda piece about maltreatment of Palestinians in Israeli jailsand the stories of his interviewees speak for themselves. Aljamal co- wrote 7 introductory paragraphs- outlining that there were 5000+ Palestinians in prison, 250of them children and almost 500 of them interned without trial (“administrative detention”).The alleged purpose of the piece was to highlight mistreatment of prisoners and the likely deterioration of their treatment if a proposed clampdown on prisoner rights went ahead. The remainder of the piece basically consisted of detailed personal accounts of alleged mistreatment in Israeli jails- written in the first person by a variety of people- male female, young, old. The accounts seem to be pretty consistent with what human rights organisations have reported but obviously it’s not possible to state if they are factual or not from the article.

The co- author of the piece was the editor of the Palestine chronicle- Aljamal’s regular gig. Al Jazeera stated the following disclaimer in relation to the piece:
“The views expressed in this article are the authors’ own and do not necessarily reflect Al Jazeera’s editorial stance”

So make of that what you want but to me it doesn’t particularly discredit Al Jazeera. Also, we don’t know at what stage Aljamal took up terrorism- it might have been after this point that he took that step. Should a news organisation consult an astrologer every time a human interest piece is published , just in case the journalist decides to become a kidnapper

I haven't been following this story in recent days. Has it been confirmed that he was a willing participant in terrorism?

Not all of them but this guy appears to be nypost.com/2024/06/09/world-news/gaza-journalist-held-3-hostages-in-his-home-with-his-family-israeli-military-says/

GlossyChipmonk · 23/06/2024 09:55

And here we have today the news of the IDF tying an injured Palestinian to the front of their jeep. Their inhumanity on display for the world to see they absolutely don’t give a fuck about any Palestinian - and they absolutely don’t view them as humans. What disgusting racists they are.

The Israeli military says the man was a suspect in a raid in the West Bank, but its forces violated protocol.

Scirocco-"It might be nice if people could actually pause for a moment to express sympathy and compassion for the people killed or severely injured and the grieving people left behind, rather than just launching straight into the usual minimising."

I am beginning to think Israel supporters are incapable of that. I guess one has to be incapable of sympathy or compassion to support a country that is committing genocide on people it has brutally oppressed for 76 years.

Scirocco · 22/06/2024 17:25

It might be nice if people could actually pause for a moment to express sympathy and compassion for the people killed or severely injured and the grieving people left behind, rather than just launching straight into the usual minimising.

There are valid discussions that could take place about the ethics and challenges of conflict in urban areas, but I really think the first part of any such discussion needs include compassion and recognition of the innocent lives lost.

This has been another tragedy. More people killed and injured. The majority of people on this site have children in their lives, children they love. The children dying in Gaza deserve to live and to be safe, just like children everywhere else in the world deserve to be. And yet the world is watching their deaths and doing so little to try to help them.

GlossyChipmonk · 22/06/2024 16:51

Unfortunately throughout the entire conflict the IDF have committed atrocities against the Palestinians and other Muslims.

For example, i wish more people knew more about the Sabra and Shatila massacre (in Lebanon) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabra_and_Shatila_massacre

but the Israeli government narrative is always about how they are attacked and if anyone speaks out against them then it’s anti-semitism. I think people are becoming increasingly aware of the disingenuous narrative. We need to treat the Israeli government like we treated the South African apartheid government. Shut them out of everything until they stop the terrorism against Muslims.

100% agree. Britain didn't bomb Ireland when dealing with the IRA, which it denoted as terrorists. I think Israel needs to live up to the standards that other democracies have. They don't seem able to handle that people neither agree with them, nor are we fooled by propaganda.

100% agree - that's why it is good to ignore the IDF supporters and let them talk to themselves. X is better as you can just block them, instead of having to flick over their posts without reading as you do on here.

IDF supporters? Is there no nuance to your 'debate'?

Parkingt111 · 22/06/2024 16:14

Not even a ounce of sympathy by some, for those killed, it's quite disturbing to read.

GlossyChipmonk · 22/06/2024 16:05

And here you are - trying to deflect the discussion from Israeli government atrocities and war crimes and ask us to justify why we think your comments are abhorrent.

the very fact you came to a post like this and immediately spat out hatred rather than show any sympathy or concern at innocent Palestinian children being literally blown to pieces is absolute demonstration of your racism and Islamophobia.

shame on you.

(and yes I know you’re going to keep posting to try to keep deflecting, but that’s fine - you’ll just be continuing to display your hatred and bigotry)

Well said - Mumsnet need to get better at deleting thread derailers who often spend their time projecting their amateur dramatics onto others.

ForKookyPoet · 22/06/2024 16:10

The over emotive dramatics really are something. Imagine coming onto
a parenting site and talking about kids being terrorists? You mean coming onto a CITME board, as a sub category of a parenting, amongst other things board? Drop those pearls, ladies and breathe.

MoMo999 · 22/06/2024 16:06

ConnieCounter · 22/06/2024 16:00

Imagine coming on to a parenting site to claim that children killed today by Israeli bombing may have been terrorists.

I think if you have to make comments like this you're really reaching to justify what your side is doing.

There you go again, with reading what isn't there. Just want you want me to have said. Of course, some children are radicalised into terrorism. You know that though.

And a vast majority are innocent children who have lost everything and some of them even their lives. Please have some respect for them and don’t justify their deaths

ForKookyPoet · 22/06/2024 15:47

EasterIssland · 22/06/2024 15:40

I’d say it’s sickening accusing children that have been killed to be terrorist without any proof of it
