@Scirocco I am so sorry that you are feeling so hopeless but you are definitely not a coward. Your place is with your dc you are right that is where you are needed now. I really hope things begin to improve but remember, despite what you read on these boards, there are more with than against Palestinians and the world is a lot bigger than the US and UK. It sees what is happening and it stands with Palestine and the thousands of innocent civilians who have lost their lives.

The world is a messed up cruel place. I wish people could find their humanity and remember that we are all equal and we all matter and that peace will not be achieved through the gun or the bomb, never has and never will.

I'm Christian (ish) and my Palestinian relatives are Christian too so I haven't wanted to interject too much although I was quite vocal in my support of the board under a different username

I honestly at this point don't think Israel will stop until every Palestinian in Gaza is dead. I still have family there and I feel so utterly helpless. I hope desperately that they prove me wrong every day.

I also haven't gone to help with aid, I'm disabled and would be a liability and not a help, but I understand how you feel.

You aren't a coward though, you are pragmatic and oftentimes as a parent pragmatism has to win out.

And even if you were a coward, better that than some of the psychopaths who come on these thread to tell posters worrying about family and friends or just innocent victims that it's all the Gazan's own faults because they deserve it.

At this point, I'm losing hope that it can be stopped. The only power that could realistically prevent this slaughter is the US, and that doesn't look likely to happen, either with this President or the next one.

When this started, I told people to run. That the window to get out was narrow and closing fast. Some chose to stay, to help. Some didn't make it out in time before everything closed. Some people went in with aid agencies. I didn't. I told myself that I couldn't do that to my DC, to risk them losing their mum in this. But on days like today, I look in the mirror and see a coward who could have tried harder.

I’ve been busy all day but briefly heard about the hostage release and was pleased for the individuals and their families - why? Because I am human.

Then I read about the massacre that took place in order to save those 4, I feel so numb that so many lost their lives today were slaughtered - why? Because I am human.

The “what should Israel do?” brigade and Netanyahu need to go and have a long hard look at themselves in a mirror.

Oh my goodness the scenes coming out of Gaza today are just beyond horrific. The children!! There are no words to describe. When will they be stopped!?

God only knows what next week will bring...

Almost every week I think "it can't get any worse than this" and then it does.

US boots on the ground might be the deal made to prevent open conflict with Iran. But it has potentially interesting legal repercussions which could add to the incentive to prevent the ICC and ICJ cases proceeding. If that is the deal that was struck, Netanyahu outplayed Biden there.

Wonder whether using aid trucks today won’t put aid workers (more) at risk of being killed

also, if US has really helped on land today what does it mean. It’s a new step from Biden administration. Wishes he’d f**k off in the elections but the alternative isn’t any better. Can’t wait to read what sanders has to say

And we certainly don't make the world a better place by going "but Hamas" when people are mourning civilian deaths or by pretending October 7th was the start of the issues and that there aren't 1000s of Palestinians being held captive in Israel for spurious reasons

@ConnieCounter I was agreeing with another poster about progress towards a ceasefire agreement. Not derailing the thread. You don’t get to decide how people engage with the topic.

Once again, I deplore all civilian deaths and indeed all deaths in conflict, it is tragic and we all wish it didn’t happen. The deaths of children are especially appalling. All human life is valuable. We do not make the world a better place by pretending that things are simple when they are not, nor by refusing to engage with different views, expressed in a civilised way.

However, I do have to go and do some other stuff now so I will leave, but thank you to those posters who have engaged with me in a civilised fashion, I appreciate it. 🙏

Please can I ask if you have seen the images coming out of this area of Gaza? If you haven’t, perhaps that’s why you can’t understand the deep horror at the thought that some people think that what has happened is acceptable.

Not policing anyone where has any of my posts suggested that? It has become obvious that there has been a lot of name changing going on and as you're not a regular poster here I wondered were you one? Simple no would have done
