Its human rights record are deplorable but that is not the reason I suggested boycotting them.

I am supporting a boycott based upon its actions on banning a Western democratic state - that is an ally of many countries - from its shores due to its racist and anti-Semitic stance.

Anyway like I said I am not in favour of sweeping boycotts. I preferred targeted sanctions but on a human level as someone who has felt utterly helpless watching innocent children being starved and bombed incessantly I understand the Maldives urge to do something and a general ban is probably much easier for a small nation to impose.

Haven't been since 2012, would love to go back...

It is absolutely amazing. I lived there for a number of years and the people are so warm, so friendly, so accepting and so multicultural. So spiritual!
