Tel Aviv under attack from at least eight rockets fired from Rafah in Gaza

Hamas's military wing claimed responsibility for the attack on Sunday, according to Press Association.

What happened after by Israeli airstrikes was truly terrible - a real tragedy.

But why are Hamas still firing rockets deliberately at a residential city with no combatants.
As long as Hamas are in power rockets will never stop. Plus all the Aid Britain and America are giving just goes straight to Hamas. They started the war haven’t released the hostages and have no intention of surrendering.
The UN orders Israel to stop fighting.
But Hamas are free to continue their attacks.
Makes sense to someone I guess...........

I can't comment on that without context but what I said is true.

There will be no peace until they are dismantled.

There will be no peace until they are dismantled.

But there wasn't peace before Hamas either. Getting rid of Hamas is one element of a lot of things that need to change. This is not about one thing going back to the status quo is no longer a reasonable option for Gaza

AbsoluteYawns · 28/05/2024 18:43

They won't stop attacking Israel.
Hamas want bloodshed they don't actually care who's as it all helps their wicked cause. Which is the ending of every Jewish person.

The PP saying its a few 'home made bombs'...that is infanitislising and minimising their terrorism.

Have you not seen the atrocities? Christ.

Well bombing kids to dust is obviously step 5 on the road map to peace.

Yeah, shooting through children is not the way to go about eradicating them

Twist her words???

She literally said " You'll wish for the days of Hamas." Plus that they are an ideology.

They are not.

They are a proscribed terrorist organisation, committed to the destruction of Israel.

They are REAL.

They must be eradicated.

Yeah, shooting through children is not the way to go about eradicating them

Oh stop trying to twist Cecilly's words. It's historically accurate, look at Hezbollah born out of Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon. Israel assassinated 2 of it's earlier leaders who were good at small scale offensives but essentially ineffective. They ended up with Nasrallah who has managed to shape it into one of the most militarily powerful non state actors, beating Israel in the 2006 war. Look at the Northern front where 100,000+ settlers are still displaced.

Any form of resistance to the occupation by Palestinians is labelled as terrorism. Israel’s actions aren’t going to beat them into submission. The reality is the Palestinians will keep on resisting, what form that takes is quite literally in Israel’s hands.

I think it's cute the way some people think they can just "eliminate" Hamas. Hamas is an ideology. It's an idea. It will be a cuddly kitten compared with what emerges next from Gaza's rubble. You'll wish for the days of Hamas.

Wish for the days of Hamas???

Are you serious? Do you realise what you are saying - wishing for terrorism, murder, rape and mutilation and destruction of Israel.

How have you got away with saying this?

@DownNative Germany had a two state solution with an international city.

Do you think similar could be made to work for Israel and Palestine?

Cecilly · 28/05/2024 15:56

@DownNative if you think Hamas is going away you need to wake up and smell the hummus. Hamas' recruiting numbers are going up. The more the Israel keeps hitting refugee camps, schools, hospitals, homes, the more they are depriving Palestinians of the basic ability to live as a dignified people, and the more ordinary Palestinians (who previously had no desire to pick up a gun) will retaliate because at this point they literally have nothing left to lose.

somewhereovertherain · 28/05/2024 15:41

But Israel has proven over the 20-30 years that A would never work because they don't want any Palestinians in Isreal

B is the only and correct solution and for Isreal to move out of the occupied areas.

hence I said B is the only practical solution

A is the ideal solution in an ideal world. unfortunately our world is far from ideal

somewhereovertherain · 28/05/2024 15:41

therealcookiemonster · 28/05/2024 15:32

personally I would like A

but practically the only thing that will be accepted in the region is B

you may have slightly missed my point

I am 100% with you on the IDFs actions and the long term occupation being a massive issue

however, we have ask what kind of dumb shits goes and does things that will no doubt be used as further excuses to bomb their own people?

I'm good at missing the point.

The sooner Isreal is held accountable by the US and UN for its actions the sooner the issue will be solved, but while the US has their pro-zionist stance everyone is f***

Oh for goodness sakes, this is a thread about attacks on Tel Aviv and it has once again become a thread about Israel's apparent yet unproven atrocities in their efforts to dismantle Hamas. Yes, errors have been made, nut nothing intentional and so not a genocidist apologist - just telling it like it is.

Are you serious? You really need to stop getting your news from main stream media and open your eyes!

What solution would people like to see?

One; A one state Greater Israel where Palestinians and Israelis are equal?
Two: A two state solution?
Three: A continuation of the pre 7th Oct situation?
Four: The Palestinians to move to other Arab states?

personally I would like A

but practically the only thing that will be accepted in the region is B

Gunnersforthecup · 28/05/2024 15:25

Either 1 or 2, whichever would work best?

Both parties need a change of government.

No idea how you organise that.

Would you have preferred if the poster had said Netanyahu and the current Israeli government are partly responsible for the rise of Hamas?

or entirely responsible for the rise of Hamas and using them as an excuse to eradicate Palestine

Terrorist groups can be degraded to the point where they can no longer engage in dangerous, meaningful attacks.

Ideologies can be discredited to the point they have no popular support. So it's not necessary to destroy an ideology per se.

Degradation of military capabilities plus discrediting of the core ideology can remove the threat.

It's also not a given something worse will emerge after a conflict. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't, but it's not axiomatic. If that was true, Europe would've had to deal with something worse than Nazism.

But it hasn't because of the degradation of Nazism militarily and the discrediting of its core ideology. Sure, fringe neo-Nazi groups exist but are not a credible threat to States, especially the German State.

You are quoting me entirely out of context

And is dragging a 'discussion' from one thread to another which MNHQ do not regard as 'helpful' for obvious reasons

I alluded to it - did not reference it directly and you and another poster referenced it directly. MN have an issue with direct referencing, quoting and naming other posters.

You did this.

Just another attempt to have it both ways. Out of context. Seriously?
