Tel Aviv under attack from at least eight rockets fired from Rafah in Gaza

Hamas's military wing claimed responsibility for the attack on Sunday, according to Press Association.

What happened after by Israeli airstrikes was truly terrible - a real tragedy.

But why are Hamas still firing rockets deliberately at a residential city with no combatants.
As long as Hamas are in power rockets will never stop. Plus all the Aid Britain and America are giving just goes straight to Hamas. They started the war haven’t released the hostages and have no intention of surrendering.
The UN orders Israel to stop fighting.
But Hamas are free to continue their attacks.
Makes sense to someone I guess...........

@keenforhelp I just came across this. I don't condone it at all. It's actually extremely tragic but it's an example of the cycle of violence. I think it also brings to light the psychological trauma that both sides are facing that is often minimised or ignored.
The international community needs to do more in my opinion to put an end to this. To work towards a lasting solution and not just temporary band aids that are soon ripped off.
The children of Israel and Palestine deserve better!

Yeah I'm sure you just stumbled across a pro-Hamas insta account.

gifting European jews the land of Palestine

You do know @WhatTheFudge0 that Jewish peoples have always lived in Israel and Palestine? If you want to argue this way, it is Jewish land as much as it is Arab land and more so than Muslim land.

@keenforhelp There are two definitions of Semitic people:

  1. People who are native speakers of a Semitic language, like Arabic and Hebrew.
  2. By extension the people from a Semitic speaking region.
Palestinians are Semites according to both definitions, since they speak an Arabic dialect and are the descendants of the old Hebrew people, the ethnic Jews.

Vote Lib Dems to stop the genocide.

Yes I'm sure that'll work. But what has that got to do with the attacks on Tel Aviv?

@blackcherryconserve politics, USA and UK pressure. Nearby Arabs are supporting them in the best way they know how, their governments are not.

@keenforhelp please don’t use the anti-Semite propaganda. Palestinians ARE semites!

I wonder what your reaction would be to a 'few home made rockets' falling in your street. What do you mean by "home made rockets' anyway? Are they constructed from Lego or play doh?.or are they rockets with war heads and so on?
You have raised another interesting point by saying that Palestinian pathetic little rockets
do not warrant the Israeli response. What would a reasonable response to Hamas's attacks be? One missile? Three? Fifty?

Hamas rockets rarely kill people. There is evidence that they cause PTSD. In a period of about 10 years fewer than 30 Israeli people were killed by thousands of rockets. The unnecessary loss of any life is tragic and not to be condoned but fortunately the absolute numbers are small and pale into insignificance compared with the number Palestinian deaths caused by the IDF in same time.

US sources believe that in recent times a substantial proportion of the rockets have been built using unexploded missiles fired by Israel and Hamas rockets are generally considered considerably less dangerous than those of Hezbollah.

The risk of rockets has been largely mitigated by very expensive US funded defence systems and safe rooms/ alert systems. So I imagine that the poster would run to her safe room and hope the rockets would be shot down.

These rockets do not pose an existential threat to Israel.

If Israel had supported a peace partner prepared to work towards a two state solution, it is likely there would be fewer rockets. So op would probably demand that her government engage in dialogue to try and disempower Hamas by allowing a rival more moderate and secular group to win concessions at the negotiating table.

Please tell us why you think this is?

This article is interesting on the point of Arab support historically: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/02/21/why-arab-states-wont-support-palestinians-qa-00142277

What is interesting to me is that the Palestinians fellow Arabs are not supporting them by providing shelter and aid. The Egyptians won't accept Palestinian refugees even though they share a border with Gaza. The only support they get is arms from Iran. Why is that?

Please tell us why you think this is?

Well you need to understand that this word is extremely offensive to some people whether you care or not.

So is your understanding of the situation in Gaza

Because if they leave their homes, they will instantly be occupied.
If your neigbour came and said let me in- but opening the door meant they could live permanently in your house and you had to feed them, would you open the door?

No you wouldn’t. You would close the door and try to talk to the big bully who was knocking down their house so that he might say “What house? This place was rubble and now I am planting figs and olives and you want to live next to a rubble pile?”

I'm pretty sure Hamas didn't intend to cause zero casualties or deaths. Their intent was murderous.

As for barbaric and inhumane treatment of civilians, look no further than Hamas and its activities on Oct.7th.

Everything that has come to Gaza stems from Hamas's wickedness last October
and their threat to repeat the attack. Israel cannot be.blamed for saying enough is enough. They are not going to stop until Hamas surrenders or is destroyed.

Everything stems from Hamas… Israel cannot be blamed.. They are not going to stop

Israel are not going to stop, and they cannot be blamed

That really is the two halves of it. Israel will raze Palestine and the Palestinians. They will tell the rest of the world that the Palestinians made them perform genocide on them, and they can’t be held accountable.

Let’s talk about the Double Standard part of Antisemitism, shall we?

You'll appreciate that no-one enters or leaves Gaza without the express permission of Israel and Egypt [longstanding treaty]

The only way out of Gaza is via the Rafah crossing which is currently blocked by IDF tanks and breaching the treaty with Egypt

All other exits from Gaza by land and sea are controlled by Israel who is not letting anyone out

Egypt and other nearby Arab countries do not want to see Palestinians driven out of their home, are generally poor counties already hosting a large no of refugees from a variety of countries including Palestine - and pragmatically don't want to bring Hamas into their own lands

Arab countries both near and far have been incredibly generous in providing humanitarian aid - either UAE or Qatar is by far the biggest donor - and Egypt and Jordan both of whom have huge WFP warehouses [overflowing with food aid] have kept the humanitarian aid flowing into Gaza for 8 months

So not at all true to say the only help they get is weapons from Iran

Well it's not just shelter and aid is it? And even if it was, shelter and aid for how long? You make it sound so ridiculously simple......

Firstly, It would actually end up being a one-way mass exodus which would ultimately make the Palestinians stateless and unable to return to their country of origin.
Why should they be forced to leave? Why should they be pushed out and become refugees yet again?
Secondly why should fellow Arabs take responsibility of such a huge influx of refugees? Why not Britain who were the grand masters of generosity by gifting European jews the land of Palestine...claiming it was a land without people (an epic lie). Surely they have more responsibility to take in Palestinian refugees than anyone else considering their role.
Lastly, Egypt has very little control or power over delivery of aid when the borders are brutally and violently controlled by Israel.

They won't stop attacking Israel.
Hamas want bloodshed they don't actually care who's as it all helps their wicked cause. Which is the ending of every Jewish person.

The PP saying its a few 'home made bombs'...that is infanitislising and minimising their terrorism.

And Netanyahu (and so the Israeli population) wants to exterminate every Palestinian.
