I failed to carry on researching. However I did research again for the purpose of this post. Is that alright now?

I think part of the issue there is when gays and women and girls are being blown to pieces and starved to death that is kind of more of a pressing issue than whether or not Palestine has a pride parade. Israels policies in Gaza are disproportionately affecting women and girls, girls are struggling with their periods, children are more prone to malnutrition and starvation, pregnant and breast feeding women are being affected terribly with lack of adequate food and health care. Israel are right now the biggest threat to anyone in Gaza. To start talking about gay rights etc at a time when everybody is being blown to pieces and starved seems like whataboutery. Lots of things should happen after but right now there are clearly more pressing issues.

To be fair, there isn't a lot of anti Hamas sentiment though is there? In my line of work I engage with a lot of university students and many of them have told me they regard Hamas as freedom fighters. None of them seem to be talking about women's, girl's or gay rights under that regime.

Palestine must be free but it must also be freed from its misogynistic, medieval rulers as well.

I think “actual supporters of a proscribed terrorist organisation” covers it, per PP. That doesn’t mean that everyone or even a majority of people on these marches are pro-Hamas, but it acknowledges that there is a cohort which is. There is also a cohort that doesn’t know their arse from their elbow when it comes to the Middle East but are happy to sling on a keffiyeh and chant “from the river to the sea”, which frankly I find more dangerous and problematic.

@NecessaryNC24 if you want to know why actual supporters of a proscribed terrorist organisation might cover their faces, direct from them, you'd really need to ask them. I've explained a possible reason, but it sounds like you actually want to hear from them directly, so you'd need to go find them and ask them.

Most of my recent direct experience of violent thugs and extremists has been with the EDL and similar and people out supporting the IDF, but I'd imagine the basic principles of being bullies and wanting to avoid consequences for their actions would likely apply.

I seen the dead managed naked body of a woman on the back of a pick up truck. A man grabbed her by her hair and raised her lifeless head - the crowd were cheering and spitting on her body. She had been to a festival.

I seen a woman being dragged out of the back of a 4x4 by her hair. She had blood on the seat of her pants. Her hands were bound and her ankles had lacerations. She was a female soldier who was later found dead
