My daughter goes to a Jewish nursery up the road from where we live, and I always worry when I hear sirens heading in that direction. We live in a very militant lefty city and the pro-Hamas mobs (yes mobs; that's what they are) are very active.

Every Friday afternoon there's a protest at the bottom of our street. Not exactly pleasant to hear them shouting "there is only one solution; intifada revolution" as I'm cooking for Shabbat. DH grew up in Jerusalem during the second intifada and has PTSD from getting on the bus directly after one that was blown up. His friends were on that one.

So yeah. Shit time for Jews in the uk. We're moving to Israel next year. A war zone is more appealing.

I was speaking to a young friend yesterday whose father installs fire alarms in London. He was recently servicing a fire alarm in a jewish school. The head teacher asked him to be very careful not to set off the other alarm sound because they have had to set a different siren as a warning of a terrorist attack due to the marches and the enormous rise in antisemitism.
All the staff and children are terrified this might happen so setting this off inadvertently would cause huge panic.
The children have also been told not to wear distinguishing uniform to and from school.
This is what the “mob” have achieved for british jewish people.

You're always talking about how important the right to protest is and have compared saying anything negative about protestors to antisemitism. But counter protests are a recipe for trouble?

This was not the right place for a protest. It was disrespectful and insensitive and people who simply want to go and watch the film should be allowed to do that in peace. As @Scirocco said there are better ways to object if people are concerned about the links to the Israeli government.

Not interested in anyone who makes inflammatory remarks or uses this shameful incident as an excuse to bash the left again unless they want to qualify their statements by explaining they mean an extreme minority.

Whilst I think it's wrong to march outside the cinema, the footage of the pro-israeli group that is circulating on social media is terrible and really paints some of them in a bad light. Includes racist and aggressive abuse and really takes away from what they are protesting against

If you read the article you can see they are withdrawing their sponsorship because of its link to and funding from the Israeli state. There has been objections to this film festival for years. This article is from 2015 so long before what happened on Oct 7th. It is not to do with what specific film was shown but the film festival in general.

Just to clarify, I don't agree with the protests and vandalism that happened outside the cinema.

The directors were previously among more than 40 artists and film-makers who
called for a boycott of Seret in a letter to the Guardian in 2015. The letter stated: “By benefiting from money from the Israeli state, the cinemas become silent accomplices to the violence inflicted on the Palestinian people. The festival is co-sponsored by the Israeli government via the Israeli embassy in London, creating a direct link between these cinemas, the festival screenings and Israeli policies.”

OK that's not how I took the article at all. They said they resigned because the Israeli state was involved. Not sure where you got supporting Hamas or fascism from.
