New Hamas video of hostages

The new Hamas video released today of the female hostages selected as the ones they planned to get pregnant was so sickening and I wish I hadn’t seen it.

however, I am also wondering WHY it has not been more widely picked up and broadcast? I don’t understand the silence from the bleeding left; why don’t they see stuff like this and not just feel desperate and sick about those poor poor girls and their families who must be beyond devastated.

Watching the men in those videos helps to counter balance the idea of Israel as the aggressor. I wish more would see it and reflect or even just place those women of equal value to those in Gaza.

How is the world so perverse right now that this warrants a shrug from so many? Or worse, is viewed as justified !?

I think the snag might lie in whilst still wanting them to be successful and remove hamas.

Look, we're all talking out of our arses here because we have no access to any of the intelligence Israel are working on. From the comfort of our cosy living-rooms, it's easy to say "Stop!" The assumption that they are just carrying out indiscriminate attacks is interesting, we wouldn't assume that about our own country if we were responding to a terrorist threat.

I absolutely would assume it was indiscriminate if the UK was doing this. I marched and protested against the Iraq and haven't voted Labour since then.
Also, if its not indiscriminate, then it's targeted, that's even worse. That would mean Israel deliberately killed thousands of children, they knew they were there and bombed them anyway.

Scirocco · 25/05/2024 13:36

What country is carrying out attacks doesn't determine whether a pattern of attacks is indiscriminate or not. The pattern of attacks does.

You possibly wouldn't assume it about your own country but other countries are likely to if the UK was overstepping the mark. I think the word assumption is wrong though, people aren't plucking things from the sky it is based on evidence and on how many other countries are also interpreting it.

Right, so what would you call bombing tents of displaced civilians?
Mind you these are the tents they were forced to go to in supposedly safe zones.
I think it's quite clear that there is no care who gets killed along the way, how many civilians die in the bid to get one Hamas soldier. As was seen by the repeated air strikes that killed the foreign aid workers.
The IDF soldier thought he spotted a Hamas fighter with a gun so therefore killed everyone in the convoy.
It later turns out it wasn't a gun but an aid worker holding a bag, but it's clear from there how they operate.

mollyfolk · 25/05/2024 11:22

@ChickyBricky It’s not an assumption. Even the US are using the word indiscriminate attacks.

Censorship seems a bit pointless, like an endless game of whack-a-mole. It doesn't things go away, it just makes them less visible, which I'm not sure is a good thing. At least while everyone is free to express their views, there is an opportunity to explore and challenge them, so maybe we all get to learn something now and then.

That is a valid perspective. The reason I report it is because I am aware of the pain it can cause people on this site (because people have shared with me how upsetting it is to read such things). I cannot undo the pain of October 7th, but I can try to protect others from having to read horrible comments about it. By flagging up such comments to MN, they can then make a decision on whether it breaches Talk Guidelines or not.

That's got nothing to do with my post but I guess any opportunity to make sure everyone remembers to also keep blaming the Israeli government for it, right?

As I have written previously. Hamas is to blame for the attack but the Israeli government has to answer questions regarding them ignoring the warning of impending attack from the hostages and Egypt as well as their slow response to it.
The Israeli government has a duty of care to keep their citizens as safe as possible like any other government and to act swiftly when they are under attack. I know I would want to know.
The hostages and their families deserve an explanation, which Netanyahu appears to ignore. Israelis are protesting about it. Are they wrong?

Some people protested. Some people showed no sympathy, not everybody. There are many many of us who absolutely have sympathy for Israel and understand their right to self defence but that doesn't mean we can't see how they are going about that and want an immediate end to those tactics, whilst still wanting them to be successful and remove hamas.

As I posted before, the Israeli government has questions to answer regarding what they knew about the attack and why they took so long to come to the rescue. Hamas can never be excused for what they did but Netanyahu owes the hostages and their family an explanation. Instead, he has ignored them and dismissed them. This is the reason why they have released the video.

Where did I stereotype and discriminate? Or are you just saying random words now?

It wasn't some people, it was vast amounts of people all over the world. Please don't minimise it, it was pretty traumatising to see people celebrate on the streets of Malmö and protest against Israel on the streets of Sydney within 24 hours of the start of the massacre when no one knew what the casualty figure was, just knew it was high, and there were still Hamas terrorists inside Israel hunting for more victims.

People want it to stop that's all.... if the famine stops if refuges are let out, then we will all go back to talking about what Hamas has done.

Until then we are all to worried about millions of innocent children starving and dehydrating to death.

WE WE WE.

It's like you think the Pro-Palestinians are all one homogenous body, one giant echo chamber, and you all speak for each other.

There you go, a thinly veiled attempt at minimising the experience for Israel. I suggest you write on your forehead in permanent ink “Hamas are the murdering guilty terrorists” so you see it every day in the mirror.

Good bye.

Firstly I want to stress the "are you basicly saying its OK to kill the whole population" was a question not an accusation. I want to be clear on that, because currently that is what is happening. The population is being starved bombed and without enough water and medicine. So if you feel that this action is justified and acceptable because Hamas dont care, i wanted to ask if you were saying this is OK.

Secondly if you look at my posts you will very clearly see me say multiple times. Hamas are bad hamas are killers of guilty of genocide and should be procescuted. Its easy to blame hamas for all the crimes being committed when you have chosen a side.

I have no side and crimes are being committed by both sides at this point in my opinion.

My sympathies lie with the innocent Palestinians they are not terrorists. They also lie with the victims and families of the October atrocities

I want a ceasefire and a 2 state solution tomorrow but I'm not In charge sadly and neither are the Israeli or Palestinian people currently suffering.

Edited

No I am not saying it is okay for innocent Palestinians to suffer, do not be so utterly ridiculous. But I will not be manipulated into blaming the Israelis either, because all this suffering is ultimately on the shoulders of the Hamas savages, end of.
Israel has at least tried to warn civilians.
The Israeli military warned civilians to evacuate north Gaza and head to the south, and many heeded that call, despite Hamas calls for them to remain. Because Hamas do not care. That’s a shame but it is also true that some civilians are active Hamas supporters.

Get rid of Hamas and you get rid of the problem. How are they to be got rid of? Israel has tolerated their barbarity for years already and they just do not stop. Whilst Hamas exist, Israelis cannot rest peacefully in their beds at night. Why do they deserve this BS? And just because they are bigger, more civilised, kinder, more intelligent, respect human rights and live in a democracy, and have powerful friends, does not mean they should continue to tolerate these ongoing attacks, and the threat of more.

Here we do agree: “(Palestinians ) are not guilty of war crimes, hamas are.”

That’s right, Hamas are the ones who gladly sacrifice their own people. They have no respect for human rights, they are fascist fundamentalists who will not regard equally the rights of women, those of other religions, gay people. They are intolerant psychopaths. Human beings are human shields. I suggest we call for Hamas to do the right thing and turn themselves over instead of hiding behind innocent civilians.

I also want a ceasefire but Hamas have tended not to honour them. Just when it was looking like maybe there was hope, Oct 7th happens. Hamas. Hamas the uncivilised barbaric murderers.

I don’t wish to engage with you further on this, I have better ways to spend my time.
Thank you.

@ChickyBricky "What I tend to see is people paying lip service, in passing, to the horror of the atrocities committed by Hamas, all while insisting that Israel's response is disproportionate and that the IDF are "the real terrorists."

They flood thread after thread after thread with trauma-porn images from Gaza, go into gruesome detail about the suffering of dying babies, and copy/paste comments from social media and dubious news outlets without any analysis or comment of their own, as though no one else has access to the internet and they are performing an important public broadcast service. Sometimes I can't help wondering if these are bots working in Hamas's interests, although I suppose most of it is just lazy posters bouncing around in their echo chamber."

This with gold-plated bells on ^

I suspected bots as well, especially with the plethora of posts from Quds a news outlet with links to Hamas.

MN has been asked to shut this stuff down in the interests of good taste but so far hasn't done so.

No one is paying lips service to anything.

Yes we think Hamas are a terrorist organisation but we also don't think innocent Palestinians should be starved to death and not let out into refugee camps, what is wrong with that?

Are we supposed to pick a side and not care about the innocent, is that what you would prefer? Us to turn a blind eye to it? Because we have chosen our side?

I want the israeli people to have a state, I also want the Palestinians to have a state. I think hamas need locking up all of them but I also think the Palestinians need urgent help and ceasefire.
