It's always about Israel! A two state solution was not supported long before Hamas. How do you suggest we help Palestinians remove Hamas? By force? Doesn't work.
Maybe giving them realistic alternatives, supporting them to build an independent state free from oppression. Recognising the state of Palestine can be the beginning of that process. Supporting them to get rid of the gun in politics and govern through peaceful means without corruption, intimidation and violence.

They can fuck off. Ireland fully supported the establishment of the state of Israel when they were fighting the British out of Mandate Palestine. We don't owe them.

Our Taoiseach was very clear this morning in condemning Hamas, saying they have nothing to offer.

Yes it is a real question. Jesus was an ethnic Palestinian Jew.

Is this a real question? Jesus was a Jew living in Judea, which was then under occupation by the Romans. The same Romans who then called the land Palestine.

Both sets of people are indigenous. But unfortunately have very different ideas about how they would like to live.

It's more like a situation where the Norseman invasions in the 9th century resulted in a very different Viking culture in the Danelaw for a few hundred years. If our cultures hadn't merged in the last 1000 years (partly through conquest) - or if their conquest had been so complete that we ended up moving to France for a few hundred years - we might have ended up with conflict.

I like to think that in the same way as we had a referendum for Scottish people to choose whether to become an independent state, we could have decided to form 2 separate states within the territory which is currently the UK.

If those Vikings had continued to raid and kill us, and claimed London for themselves just because they built some more buildings there (despite it having been our capital well before they landed) then we might have more of a problem.
