The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will rule on Friday 24 May on South Africa’s request to order a halt to Israel’s Rafah offensive in Gaza, it said on Thursday.

of course they are related, Norway and ireland are adding weight to the general consensus that Israel is commiting war crimes and need to be punished. the only route to peace is a two state solution and maybe if Palestine is a free democracy and has control of borders etc then Israel will feel less threatened. i know it sounds idealistic but years of an occupying state stealing land will always mean death of inncoent civilians
on both sides.

Exacted a heavy price??? Thats what this article says? 35000 lives? Half of them children? Cutting off food water and medicine to a population? Children shot, journalists killed. The daily mail is nothing but propaganda. I cannot believe that they have politicised left and right, the loss of 35000 human lives In 6 months.

I'm so happy to see countries recognising palastine as its own state. Finally some recognition for the forgotten people of that nation. This just shows what's currently happening to them is being recognised and rejected. I hope many more follow suit. I know who won't but I hope everyone else does. I hope a lasting peace for both states can come soon. There needs to be compromise on both sides and all those responsible for attroicities brought to justice.

No it didn't sadly, but "we" tend to have much better PR. When your remember the French and the US were ultimately responsible for over 3 million deaths in the paddy fields of SE Asia because Vietnam wanted to determine their own governance you realise that "goodness" is all relative. I'm in my 60s now and thought I had seen it all but the horrors we can see just a click away, be it Hamas atrocities or the remnants of women and children blown up by high explosive bombs have truly brought it home as to how awful war is and why every effort bar none should be sought to avoid it.

This explosion of gore though is totally new and something I would have thought goverments fear lest it degrades their ability to prosecute state sponsored violence in the future. I suspect in the near future AI censorship and the locking down of social media by goverments and other vested interests will eliminate a lot of this and they can go back to going about their business unhindered.

Oh and Israel will be able to regain their self-appointed most moral army in the world crown.

If people think an arrest warrant should not be sought for Netanyahu, presumably that is on the basis of thinking he is not responsible for the alleged offences. I would suggest that those people spend a few minutes looking at the horrendous images and reports of suffering coming out of Gaza, and ask themselves if what they are seeing and reading should be allowed to happen with no challenge or consequence?

It's easy to detach from what thousands of deaths actually looks like when you don't have to see it. Look at the people. Hear their stories. Read what we who are bearing witness to this have to say. The dead are our loved ones. Our friends, families and colleagues.

If you do not believe that international bodies should apply their standards to the people leading the force and government carrying out the acts killing our loved ones, then have the courage to see, hear and know the lives lost that you are therefore saying mean less than your own.

I've asked for the offensive post to be removed. I want to make clear I am sorry, it wasn't even meant to infer that you support genocide. I was under the impression you didn't believe it was genocide, therefore I didn't for one second think that you would take that as me saying you support genocide, now that you have, I've done all I can to remove it.

Did you mean my original post that offended you? My wording wasn't great and I do apologise, your absolutely right, you didn't say you supported what I wrote. I will contact mums net and have It removed if possible. Tensions are high on this issue because of what is happening to thousands of people through no fault of their own and we are helpless to do anything to help them, feelings run high. But you are owed an apology for what I wrote.
