From the Guardian article, the evidence points clearly to the Israeli government funding groups in order spread propaganda and sow discord, at a rate that begs the question, how much should they be allowed to interfere in British politics/life without registering as foreign agents?

Inside the 1948 boundaries of Israel, nonJewish citizens have many of the same rights as Jewish citizens ,but not all, and they do not enjoy parity of esteem- Israel is an ethno-state based on Jewish supremacy.

Those living in East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza suffer under an apartheid type regime and are highly discriminated against compared with Jewish settlers.

The Palestinians who live inside the green line that forms the 1948 boundaries of Israel are citizens and have the many of the same rights as Israeli citizens. Non Jewish Palestinians do not have the right to return to the lands taken in 1948 and this is a wider immigration issue in terms of families and spouses not being allowed reunification if they marry someone not living within the 1948 boundaries . Palestinians do not enjoy parity of esteem and this is reflected in some of the laws- the Nakba laws and the admissions committee laws which prevent Palestinians living in a neighbourhood because of “cultural incompatibility “. There is discrimination against Palestinian communities in getting planning permission - it’s almost impossible.
The biggest injustice is the Absentee property Law which allowed Israel to expropriate the lands of people expelled in 1948 without compensation . Palestinians form 17% of the population but only have access to 3% of the land.
An apartheid system is in place in East Jerusalem and the West Bank which systematically discriminates against non Jews.
Movement of people and goods in and out of Gaza is controlled by Israel - it’s effectively a prison with corrupt brutal Hamas running the prison

So the claim of apartheid within Israel for citizens is purely based on the right to return applying to Jewish people and not Arab people. But otherwise, all citizens of Israel are treated the same.

I very much prefer Flora Cassen's stance. But then I believe in open discussion, in hearing both sides of the argument, in encouraging university students to think for themselves and make their own minds up.

There didn't seem to be much of an argument or much original thought in Pappe's piece.

It's not even that it is out of date, when the letter was written Israel were restricting medicines/medical equipment/training etc it's that the author chooses to ignore that and instead paint it as a charitable act that Israel treats some of the patients that they prevent from getting treatment at home. I mean it's great that they don't let everyone that needs treatment die and that they allow some to travel but it would be far better if they allowed them the comfort and dignity of being treated at home rather than the stress of having to apply for visas, travel away from family and receive treatment alone in Israel. Very sick children have been forced to travel to Israel alone for treatment as visas are often denied to their parents(43% of the time in 2018 for instance). Not to mention the need to wait for permits significantly reduces their health outcomes.
