If all Palestinians leave Gaza, are Israel then allowed to claim the land?

Gaza is considered occupied under international law because of the control that Israel maintained over the airspace, water and movement of all people and goods.

Many in the Israeli government do seem very interested in having military rule in Gaza.

But we are non the wiser anyway - as there is no post war plan.

That is happening now in the West Bank.

So if they don't Gaza why were the settlers there in the first place and are ready to move in again?

Israel has been claiming parts of Gaza and the West Bank for decades. They evict the people living there and simply build houses for their own people to live in.

This is a fair question I think, as in the end black and white is what conducts history. I guess this is the history of the West Bank for all eternity and that of all land. People move in/out/invasions happen and land then belongs to someone else. I think that is what would happen and no one would do or say anything.

Just look at the geography. Where is a canal starting in Gaza going to go? What oil reserves are in Gaza? Israel already has 4 or 5 seaports. What use is one more?

Israel left Gaza completely in 2005. Removed by force all Jewish settlers and even took all the Jewish graves.

Israel is not interested in Gaza.

They would just take it.

And the US and UK would veto any efforts to prevent that happening.

They would just take it and the world won't stop them. I mean, if the world can ignore the mass slaughter then empty land is nothing to think about.
They have already plans in place for Gaza. It's not top secret. A canal to compete against the Suez Canal, a super duper port, eyes on the oil reserves plus a holiday resort much like Dubai.

I think that is the ultimate goal for Netanyahu and what his right wing government are working towards. The illegal settlers are also claiming land by stealth and within a few years Palestine will be gone. It doesn't matter what the rest of the world think, Netanyahu has his own agenda to fulfill.

Nobody supports Israel claiming the land in the Gaza - not the UN nor the US. This wouldn’t necessarily stop them though - they have been illegally occupying land for decades.

There is no clear plan for after the war.
