All Eyes on Rafah

It’s just beyond awful. The idf have dropped leaflets telling Palestinians to move. There is no where for them to go. This is beyond awful. More children will be blown apart, more families destroyed and all for what? Sick beyond what I ever imagined.

The idf have no plan apart from indiscriminate killing.

The people who really need to see it are those still defending the actions of Israel. And I can show them thousands more images if they think this is an unfortunate isolated incident. This is what idf WANT to do. It is the purpose of the bombs.

Here is a video of a child in Gaza asking American children, “what would you do, would you like to live like this?” Very powerful.

In that +972 report of about five IDF soldiers speaking up about what they have been doing, it mentions not only bulldozing up bodies but also instances of running over living people; and also stated that a soldier involved in that has since taken his own life.

This is without the computer game type bombing and annihilation of so many women, children and old men they are becoming inured to.

There are so many young conscripts. We now know the brain is not fully mature until age 25. Take this fact together with having to work in a pack of men, with that instinct to bond at any cost, as well as having been brought up to believe they are under constant attack by an inhuman enemy on whom they must get revenge for Oct 7, then being deployed without rest for too long at a time - and there will be the conditions set for the committing of atrocities.

Young men who were innocent 18 year olds are having their souls stolen by the Netanyahu government and IDF commanders, as well as losing their lives. If I were the mother of one of them I would be outraged.

He has explained that he grew up being taught that it was all the Palestinians fault and that they wanted to destroy all Jewish people. He believed it, so served in the IDF, got married had Children etc. But he always had this nagging feeling that something wasn’t right. So he read and learned about the History that had been hidden from him. He learned that a lot of what he had been taught was mischaracterised. So he began to campaign for Palestinian rights, but he found he was extremely angry and frustrated as nothing ever changed. His family were against this so disowned him. Eventually he left Israel and now lives alone but he is happy. He described the process as extremely difficult as he had to do work to unlearn the prejudices he has been taught. Many people can't or won't do this, it's easier and neater to hold on to the story as you believe it. Confronting something that your identity is tied to changes you and there's a lot to lose. The thing he said that made me understand how soldiers can do this was about dehumanisation: "You're seeing it the wrong way, in order to dehumanise someone, you must first think of them as bring human, many do not".

He must be a strong, good person and have extraordinary insight. As you say, most of us accept the world we are born into, and our views of others around us, or ‘outside’ us, without question.

@BelleHathor that’s really interesting to hear about. He sounds like a brave man. I can see why he felt he had to leave, it must have driven him mad having people all around him determined to bury their heads in the sand. A bit like Alon Mizhari must feel.

The pressure to conform is so strong in any society too, so when the society you live in is collectively supporting the oppression of another group and holding on to stereotypes to enable this ‘othering’ there must be a great pressure to conform. In fact we have seen how peace activists in Israel are regarded by some (not all) as traitors.

I adore him genuinely. He is the best of all of us ❤. His patience and gentleness when challenged by people being racist due to him being Israeli is admirable. No excuses or justifications, just love and best of all He never speaks for Palestinians when asked what the solution should be.

I posted this in another thread because I didn't realise it was already posted. The first response was disputing the veracity of the video.

Bombing children and families like this is just barbaric. It's incomprehensible.
