Israeli military orders evacuation of central Rafah

The Israeli military has told residents of neighbourhoods in central Rafah to evacuate, signalling a major expansion of its military operations in the city and threatening the displacement of hundreds of thousands more people.

Not in the Guardian [above] but elsewhere reported this new area seems to include the vicinity of the Kuwaiti hospital

At least 150k people have already left and Deir-al-Balah reportedly very overcrowded and short of resources and being bombarded at times

And as sub-text to the above COGAT-IDF can be somewhat 'misleading' in their SM accounts - good example being the evacuation of prem babies from al-Shifa

Also only five semi-functioning hospitals remain in Gaza out of 36

Sometimes wonder what happened to the prem babies who were evacuated to Egypt from al-Shifa back in November - tho' medical evacuation of these babies won't be possible as Rafah crossing remains closed

COGAT claims to have delivered 200000 litres of fuel into Gaza yesterday via Kerem Shalom but it doesn't seem to have reached the 5 remaining hospitals and water supplies who need it yet. Maybe it's still stuck in Kerem Shalom and can't be reached IDK

All a horrible mess - as was predicted and ignored by Israeli government

I'm sad for those babies because Israel has already demonstrated that they're happy to kill newborn babies in incubators, and to indeed leave those babies to rot where they died, alone. So I have no confidence that they'll prevent this from happening again.

I’m so fed up of people, of little children, dying and being punished for things that they never had any say in. I wish there was some way to make people understand the complexity and value of every persons life, and have it somehow evidenced to them that they deserve a place on this earth, without them having to get to know who they really are, rather than who they they think they are, because there isn’t enough time to do that.

‘Newborns will die if Israeli attacks continue’: Doctor

A medical aid group operating in Gaza has warned that newborn babies could die if fuel does not enter the Palestinian territory.

As we previously reported, the UN’s humanitarian office said unless Israel allows fuel into Gaza, five hospitals and five field hospitals will have to shut down before the end of the week.

Dr Dorotea Gucciardo of the medical group Glia said 25 babies are relying on incubators in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Emirati Maternity Hospital in Rafah.

“”That’s 25 babies whose lives are at immediate risk if these incubators are shut off,” Gucciardo said.

Even once fuel is restored, “these newborns’ futures are bleak”, said Dr Tarek Loubani, Glia’s medical director, stressing that Israel’s incursion into Rafah has put them at “incredible risk”. “Newborns will die if the Israeli attacks continues

The 3 Israeli sources who told Axios of the expansion were split on whether or not it crossed Bidens red lines on Rafah - 2 said it didn't, 1 said it did

There has to come a point in time that rather than drive new recruitment individuals chose peace?

After WW2 where millions and millions were killed, the individual countries didn't set up terrorist organisations to carry on and on. Japan swore never again. Germany was dismantled and grew to be an amazing country focused on growth and peace. Generally speaking countries were so horrified by their losses and losses collectively that they wanted no more and generally speaking Europe is so much better. Obviously putting Russias invasion of Ukraine out of that.

On a much smaller scale generally the Good Friday agreement has led to a new way forward for Northern Ireland. When everyone really wants peace and will make concessions towards each other it can work. For the good of all.

The groups of Israeli people blocking aid are wanting hostages released and appear to see only that end and are wrong to block aid.

The groups of Palestinian people who cheered and beat, spat on hostages/ dead bodies after 7th October are wrong.

In the middle of this there are starving children, grieving families on both sides who are innocent and people who want their family members returned.

Imo talks need to centre on release of hostages immediately, no conditions, hamas step aside, no conditions, Israeli government leaders to go, no conditions and both countries have new leaders and a new start. International peacekeeping and no attacks on each other from either side. Dreamland perhaps.

I have just seen the Israeli government have approved further expansion on the attack on Rafah
So so upsetting
How many more children will have to die? Where do they all go
They are sick and tired of months of war and moving around from one place to another
Now they are being killed in their tents

Even former Israeli militant intelligence official Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, is quoted as saying “Completely toppling Hamas and bringing the hostages home are two clashing goals…We’ve already achieved the most important thing: dismantling Hamas as an organized army capable of an Oct. 7 attack.”

To clear the tunnels of every last Hamas fighter could take years according to US military sources. The IDF is driving new recruits into the arms of Hamas Hezbollah and worse with its campaign of violence.

Meanwhile each IDF atrocity is making the 7/10 attack fade in some grotesque hierarchy where the suffering on both sides is set up to compete on some virtual scale of horror to justify further atrocities.

WHO tweeted a photo of a very emaciated dehydrated 7 yr old girl yesterday who was being medically evacuated from northern gaza but where will she go - the remaining healthcare is totally overwhelmed

I have no words.
I really do not know what to say anymore.
