And whilst the overall conflict may be harder to resolve, it is certainly easy for Israel to resolve the famine, the inadequate aid and healthcare and allow an adequate, co-ordinated, effective relief response.

It's not anywhere near enough. It doesn't have to be that way. it is a political choice.

You should be disgusted and outraged that children are orphaned daily, having limbs removed without anaesthetic, and desperately scrabbling around scooping up bits of contaminated flour from the ground to have something to eat.

But apparently our concern is "misplaced" and unhelpful and we should move our focus away.

My post above shows how much gaza is discussed. It's not ignored but people do have and are allowed different views. Thankfully, a lot of aid is sent to help. Gaza is in the news daily but its not an easy situation to resolve.

There are plenty of pro Palestine threads, threads about the awful conditions, threads about what Israel are doing, numerous threads often started by the same people. Posters blaming 'England ' suggesting we are sick, really don't help at all. Not much concern about Israeli people concerns about long term safety against an organisation intending to wipe them out.

I'll join the no longer bothering MN ers then since anything other than dreadful Israel is welcome. People in England are not sick. For a tiny country, lots of aid, help, etc is given around the world.

@Factsareimportantplease I've noticed some posts (your recent posts above as an example) jumping on people who express sadness and despair, with whataboutery, telling people their concern is misplaced and they should be off looking at other conflicts. Maybe posts like yours drive people away and is why some people don't post so much on the boards these days.

I've seen a lot of regular names stop posting so much, probably because of the intense pushback they face from some posters, calling them out for daring to express genuine upset and concern about a horrible and nasty war against a people who are in the one of the direst situations. And yet they face whataboutery and get told it's "pointless" for highlighting it. 🤔

Driven away from the threads by constant blame towards people who don't agree on everything the regulars say? 🙄 I've noticed many people stop posting.

I post more in the light hearted threads now since get fed up. Driving people away with constant whinging about others doesn't help. It's boring and won't help the situation at all.

There are numerous conflicts, terrorism in various countries with atrocities perpetuated around the World and people dying of famine in many countries.

Why don't you ask Where's Egypt, Saudi, Dubai, The UAE, other countries actually in the region.

Ukraine is being invaded by Russia and over 2 years defending itself now. Gaza is on the news daily, it's talked about constantly. The UN hold numerous meetings.

Unlike other countries Palestine has its own charity organisations specific to them and them alone. Huge amounts of aid sent, boats, aircraft, lorry loads. Huge aid package from numerous countries announced again today. There are some ridiculously wealthy countries in the Middle East

There are hundreds and hundreds of threads discussing the conflict on Gaza. More so than discussing any other conflict, famine or tragedy.

But hey ho it's England's fault. Once Hamas decides the people actually matter and the Israeli government feel they have stopped the terrorists enough to prevent 7 oct again? It's on both those not on England.

No wonder people avoid the topic. It's pointless and you do Gaza no favours blaming.

I also can’t engage in this as much as I’d like to. But I’m place marking and thanking everyone for talking about it and showing solidarity in the horror of it. All the outrage and concern for Israelis when Iran was sending the drones - where has concern been for Palestinians who face that reality every day for six months? I can’t wrap my head around the inhumanity of it. I remember as a child thinking that England was so cruel during the Irish potato famine and that we lacked humanity back then, but we’ve come so far, taught by Gandhi, MLK etc. Well no, it’s still the same. People are just sick.

I can't get my head around why there is no outrage.

US envoy says risk of famine in Gaza 'very high' despite some progress from Israel

David Satterfield, the US special envoy for humanitarian issues, has said the risk of famine in northern Gaza remains “very high” despite an increase in the amount of aid being admitted to the territory.

I'm really sorry to say I can't read these threads and be as involved in this as I'd like to be. I have a touch of post natal depression and I saw something that sent me absolutely spiralling.
This is one of the most evil crimes against people I think has ever occurred. It is up there with the holocaust. My great grandparents narrowly escaped the nazis and I hope my relatives would be disgusted by Israels actions, as am I with my very slight Jewish heritage.
Its truly dumbfounding how this is happening. My dp is a 6ft bearded, tattooed, shaven headed thug looking scouser and I caught him crying at footage over the last few months. Not sobs, full shaking with pure devastation and also rage. One wasn't as gruesome images as we'd seen, it was simply a wee boy shaking with shellshock and every instinct we have as adults to protect children is just destroyed when there isn't anything we can do.
I'm desperate to donate to a really good charity, I'm going to sell some of my nice bags on vinted and see what else I can do.
I've even entered competitions (so not something I do) with hope I'd be able to help financially.
If any of you have a good charity that isn't a ceo's holiday property being paid for, then please let me know.
And thank you @Eyesopenwideawake and everyone else who keeps these discussions going. When I'm less emotionally fragile I'll come chat with you more but right now I'm waiting for a wee bit more help with my pnd and I'll be back.

World Food Programme update

#Gaza: WFP has delivered fuel and wheat flour to bakeries in the north so they can begin production again after 170 days of being inoperable.

Four bakeries are now up and running and WFP is urgently working to deliver more supplies.
