This is the reality of what Israel is doing (part 3)

I’d like to spare a thought for any IDF soldiers who don’t really want to be soldiers at all, and are being forced to risk their lives for something they don’t believe in. They and their families are also victims of the Israeli government.

The following excerpts are from the article below which discusses the eight soldiers that were killed today. My comments are not related to the soldiers that were killed today, I have no idea what their beliefs were or of the way they conducted themselves in Gaza. But, I do have empathy for any soldier who doesn’t want to be one, and who may be acting with integrity while in horrendous circumstances. I pray they exist!

‘In May, the parents of more than 900 Israeli soldiers deployed in Gaza signed a letter urging the military to call off its ongoing offensive in Rafah, calling it a “deadly trap” for their children.’

And, after a vote in favour of extending exemptions for religious men, families of soldiers wrote a second letter to Netanyahu.

’That prompted a second open letter last week from families of combat soldiers addressed to Gallant and Halevi. In the letter the families said they were asking their “fighting children” to “stop the fighting right now, put down their weapons and return home immediately,” adding: “We will not sacrifice our children on the altar of public corruption.”’

Another one for here, this study by The Lancet Group suggests there is no evidence for an inflated death count in Gaza

‘National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has sought to repeatedly interfere in operational police matters in recent months, a letter by outgoing Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai to Attorney General Gali Baharav Miara reveals.

According to the letter from May 27, Ben Gvir told senior police officials behind Shabtai’s back that he did not want police providing protection for humanitarian aid convoys crossing through Israel from attack by Israeli extremists.

Good news reported by Haaretz ( Israeli newspaper):

ISRAEL: Eliran Mizrahi, the reservist who was diagnosed with PTSD and killed himself after receiving an emergency call-up order to serve, was laid to rest in a military funeral after the IDF revoked its initial decision and decided to acknowledge him as a fallen soldier.

Re withheld Palestinian money:
In a statement, Smotrich said that the withheld money would be transferred to Israeli families whose members were killed in Palestinian attacks.

My thought on this is that in that case Israel should also transfer Israeli money to families whose members were killed in Israeli strikes and they should not need to use it to rebuild houses. Think of all the orphans. Families in the West bank will also be owed money for killed family members.

@EasterIssland I agree. It is stealing. If ever there is a permanent ceasefire, I do hope Israel will pay to rebuild Gaza and not take it for themselves.

Not at all. I thought she made a great point, we should all condemn what happened on Oct 7 and to the hostages and we should all equally condemn what has happened to Palestinians since and those who don't should take a look at themselves 👍

I wondered if the vulnerable sick would be allowed out for treatment - that article answers my question. :-(
I suspect Fidaa will not be counted in the war statistics, any more than the people who need kidney dialysis, heart treatment or diabetic therapy.

Has anyone confirmed if the USA does have boots on the ground and that they actually used an aid truck in the latest disaster?*

*An operation implies there was planning to avoid casualties.
