Anti-Muslim hate has increased since 7-10

It didn't take long for anti-muslim hate to be justified, and I'm not so suprised either.
I get anti-muslim hate at times in real life and its just something I have sort of accepted as part of being a muslim and a minority, as long as its not physical I try to shrug it off. And also keeping in mind that I am not the only minority to recieve hate simply for being who they are.

@Annime I don't think any of that is a good reason for British Muslims to be attacked.

What so you think about the violence Muslims wreak on Christians in other parts of the world? Where they go into people's houses and burn them (those are the lucky ones) or hack them to death. And torch churches. All unprovoked but in the name of Allah.

The above is happening in Sudan and I'm yet to read anything here saying how it's wrong that, that happens.

It's of course very sad that Gaza is in turmoil, sad that Israel suffered the attacks, sad that people in some parts of Sudan have been forced from home. ALL of it is sad. But I can't stand the sanctimonious crowd that forgets just how others have suffered at the hands of Muslims too. Personally, I just look on.

And I'm saying this as someone with one Muslim parent who has seen terrible things spoken about non-muslims by the same people who are now saying how what is going in Gaza is so bad and how Israel has gone so far yet they are not any better themselves in other parts ofbthe worls where they hold more power than those they persecute. It's all rubbish!!

Sorry, I know Muslims can be white, but my area is pretty secular and does not have significant religious/ethnic diversity.

I think they are probably the kind of people @JanewaysBun wisely references, so nothing new there. More likely these 'people' use the marches as an excuse to express deeply held prejudice. Marches around my way are mostly middle aged and older people, lots of women, not very diverse - mostly white actually, due to the area demographics. I expect you would find the marchers are a diverse bunch around the country and not only Muslims.

@OppsUpsSide I'm not sure I understand - are you saying that the actions of unpleasant people completely unconnected to me mean that's it's less bad when I get attacked?

So are you implying that Jewish people are responsible for the rise in anti-muslim hate?

I think it far more likely that at least a proportion of anti-semetic hate and anti-muslim hate come from the same kind of people who use the current situation to justify abuse to anyone they percieve as "other" whether thats Muslims or Jews

Islamists do come under the Muslim umbrella, and their rhetoric does fuel suspicion and fear that ends up negatively impacting other Muslims, so I disagree with you, I think it is relevant.

Yeah, I've found that too with local and national media. The language used, the level of sensitivity... it's all quite different depending on race, faith and culture.

The threat of Islamist intimidation has been a topic of conversation in the Houses of Parliament today.

(For context i am not muslim) I think many, many British people look for the tiniest excuse to have a pop at muslims. I follow a local newspaper FB page and whatever they report, the comments section will blame it on muslims, including things like the green belt being built on . Since 2001 the racists have seen them as an easy target imo.

I think the point being made was that there is already a thread (several) focusing on anti-semitic hate but no equivalent space to discuss the distressing experiences of Muslims.

As a Muslim, it's not clear to me that society thinks anti-Muslim hate is unacceptable. On the contrary, we experience a great deal of hostility and aggression which is denied, minimised and justified.

Consider for a moment how you might feel, as part of a minority experiencing considerable hostility and discrimination, to have a thread started acknowledging that people like you are experiencing hate crimes and abuse, and then within the first ten posts to be told it's not surprising, other people are experiencing issues too, it's got to be considered in context, etc.... How would that make you feel? Welcome? Accepted? Equal?

Its not detailing the thread at all to point out the increase in attacks on both sides. These marches promote antisemitism. That's why they don't help. People marching with "from the river to the sea" on their banners. Maybe many of them don't know what it means, but Jewish people do.

I agree @Scirocco that the media exacerbates this, particularly outlets like GB News, DM and the Sun. Political figures - yes, although it's not new. I'm remembering Johnson's comments before he became PM. I am so sorry Muslims have to deal with this.
