Standing up for Israel

So, they have got to MN now too.
I just managed to read the previous post before it got deleted for being inflammatory. Not to me it wasn't but then I don't support terrorists.
Many, many people do stand for Israel and not for Hamas (and by definition their supporters; you know who you are).

Israel not being a democracy has nothing to do with the water cannons that were used, and everything to do with the fact that they are military occupiers of another nation, as outlined succinctly in this recent clip.
(And btw, Palestinian protestors there get teargas and rubber bullets - I think water is too precious a commodity in the region to waste on those who are perceived as subhuman).

It only took as long as it did because I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. I tried giving you chances to stop doubling down. You didn't take any of them, you're still claiming Israel isn't a democracy.

I'd still quite like you to stop with your propaganda against Israel but I assume it's a lost cause. At least now those reading the thread will be aware of your rather extreme views.

How gracious of you to "give me the benefit of the doubt" but I didn't ask for it.

The irony is strong here!
Anyway, I need to wash my hair so off I go.

Brussels: Farmers protest leaves streets in chaos - BBC News

Water cannons were fired at farmers

In any case, using water cannons doesn't preclude a government from having a democratically elected government. Lots of countries use them against protestors. But Israel is the only that apparently is not a democracy as a result.

Your not the poster who wants the UN to overthrow the Israeli government and install martial law are you?

Water cannon fired as police clash with protesting farmers in Brussels

Water cannons were fired at farmers as they clashed with police in Belgium on Monday, 26 February, as European Union agriculture ministers met to discuss ways to address their concerns. Monday's action in Brussels follows weeks of protests against the...

There it is! I wondered how long it would take.

Well, it is because of safety. Your doubts about it are completely irrelevant, specially since you don't even think Israel is a democracy 😂

The water canons were used against a demonstration that got out of hand. It's completely irrelevant what they were demonstrating about. It could have been a group of people out there showing support for the government but they would still have used the water canons if the crowd got out of hand. That's the bit that you're pretending isn't true.

Please stop spreading Hamasesque propaganda about Israel not being a democracy. It's absurd.

I really don't know how to explain it for you to understand that this has nothing to do with the use of water cannon but more against whom they were used.
Do you understand now?
There is freedom of press.
Then why is no international press allowed inside Gaza? This is the first war, according to Jeremy Bowen, a respected war journalist, that he hasn't been able to report from the front line. Don't say it is because of safety because I really doubt it. This is censorship of the press.

Israel is a democracy. There is freedom of speech. There is freedom of press. Stop trying to claim that Israel isn't a democracy, it's incredibly weird and entirely baseless.

With regards to the second part, you said you are aware that protests against the government happen frequently and regularly and have been doing so for quite some time, yet you still claimed Israel isn't a democracy because they once used water cannons. So you know it's a democracy and that there is freedom of speech. Yet you claim otherwise.

Northern Ireland have also used them, and obviously we wasted a bunch of money here buying them too with presumably the intent of using them, but I couldn't be bothered getting into it with them 🙈 It's a waste of time.

But repressing the voice of dissent is not democratic. Freedom of speech is a corner stone of a democracy as well as freedom of the press. The Israeli government has banned the latter in Gaza.
Specially when you claim to be aware that it doesn't happen regularly despite incredibly frequent and regular protests.
Sorry I don't understand this.

I personally find posting one article about one incident where water cannons were used and then claiming that as a result Israel isn't a democracy "intellectually weak". Specially when you claim to be aware that it doesn't happen regularly despite incredibly frequent and regular protests.

You will not get an answer, which in itself tells you everything you need to know.
I also find the argument that you need to be somewhere to understand what is happening intellectually weak.

I know. It's a bit rude.

The argument that you have to have lived in a place to be entitled to an opinion on policies there is asinine and ridiculous. By that argument, I should not be able speak about the Holocaust because I was not alive when it took place. I shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on apartheid in South Africa if I never lived there.

Lula is a Marxist and a hard left wing nut.
Doesn't mean Bolsenaro wasn't a moron or a military dictator sympathiser. Welcome to Brazilian politics.

More than one thing can be right. Lula is an antisemite. (Horseshoe theory)

He has never had links to Marxism/Communism & he has been democratically elected plus unlike Bolsonaro, is at least making some efforts to save the Rainforest.

Are you in Brazil? or do you just comment randomly on Brazil without a clue what you're talking about?

@Auvergne63 course you did that's why you made a big point of coming on here.... on a thread called standing up for Israel.... to school us on what's Happening in Israel.

And that it's a democracy.
And uses water cannons.

Have you mentioned 'most moral army yet'?

Sorry I wasn't aware that you were in charge of who can or cannot post on this thread, especially when you comment yourself on threads which are not aligned to your own point of views. I call this double standard and, once again, ironic.
My questioning of Israel being a democracy has nothing to do with the use of water cannon but to do with not allowing freedom of speech to Israeli who disagree with the government.

It's genuinely quite funny that you seem to think this is some kind of "gotcha!" moment. There have been weekly protests about the government in Israel since they were elected, and even more since October 7th. But one protest ends with a water cannon and that's the only one you mention. To parrot back words that we've consistently seen on here with regards to various topics "it's only a tiny percentage" so I guess it's acceptable? Or do percentages only count when it comes to terrorists working for the UN or civilians supporting terrorists?

I'm my opinion, the police did the wrong thing on Saturday. They shouldn't have used force or any kind of violence. I'm assuming something out of the ordinary happened for them to take those measures as they're not the norm, but that is pure conjecture on my part at this point as I haven't read enough about it.

Another one who likes to make assumptions! I knew about the other protests but I mentioned this one because of the use of the water canon, which shocked me.

Did I mentioned percentage? Please provide facts supporting your allegation regarding the UN.

I tend to check the facts before I express my opinions.

@Auvergne63 there are at least two protests a week in tel Aviv and where before 7/10.
This is not unusual.
Another Israel expert though...

Once again, you assume that I didn't know about the other protests. I did. I also think it is revealing that the government of Israel decides to use water canons against anti war and pro ceasefire demonstrators. I thought Israel was a democracy.
I am not an expert, never pretended I was. You seem to like labelling people though...
