It's hilarious (without actually being funny) that people think Israel needs people to stand up for it. It's got nuclear weapons, military support from the US which is for all practical purposes unlimited and unconditional, and is ignoring international law with impunity. It's slaughtered nearly 30 times the number of people killed on 7 October, including over 11,000 children. Meanwhile Palestinians are starving to death, having limbs amputated without anaesthetic and dying of dysentery in tents, when they're not being bombed to smithereens or gunned down in their cars. Gaza's main aid agency has been defunded at Israel's urging in the absence of evidence, and Israeli settlers are trying to block even the meagre amounts of aid which are still getting in. And polling shows that a majority of Israelis think the army isn't using enough firepower in Gaza. Christ knows what they think the IDF should actually do.

Sorry I probably worded my post wrong - I agree, I meant that many will still say so but I don't imagine even they truly believe it at this stage.
I meant Hamas hold some of the blame, but a heck of a lot lies with the IDF and Israeli government. What the IDF have done is absolutely unforgiveable.

Regarding the quoted post - I don't think many (truly) believe it at this stage. Of course they hold some of the blame, but not all. Not by a long shot.

I wouldn't say the only thing, there are quite a few others, but I definitely agree that he is a major obstacle on the path to peace both short-term and long-term.

His words on radio 4 were also interesting. He said ( I am paraphrasing here): " The only thing standing in the way of a viable resolution to this is Netanyahu."
I agree with him.

I understood it to mean that they couldn't get out safely without it as they were being shot at.
So yes a distraction to confuse the situation and allow a safe passage for the hostages. The airstrikes occurred in a different part of Rafah so once again Palestinians are expendable. It is just highlighting again that the IDF are not trying to limit civilian casualties because bombing an extremely built up area has no other end result than death and destruction. The Irish deputy prime Minister (Tànaiste) has suggested the bombardment of Rafah violates humanitarian law.

I presumed by arguing in favour of Israel re what happened last night that you must think the bombing was reasonable. Do you not agree with what Israel did? If not, my apologies.
