Aid trucks from Egypt enter Gaza through Karem Abu Salem crossing

Four humanitarian aid trucks from Egypt have entered Gaza via Israel through the Karem Abu Salem (Kerem Shalom) crossing, according to the Egyptian broadcaster Al-Qahera.

The trucks were carrying fuel, according to the television network.

As Joe Biden boasted about US aid efforts in Gaza during his West Point military academy commencement speech, saying that the US army and navy has built a temporary pier in the Mediterranean “in record time” to deliver aid to Palestinians, efforts on the ground tell a different story.

On Saturday, US Centcom announced that four US army vessels were affected by “heavy sea states”:

The vessels broke free from their moorings and two vessels are now anchored on the beach near the pier. The third and fourth vessels are beached on the coast of Israel near Ashkelon. Efforts to recover the vessels are under way with assistance from the Israeli navy.

Famine will spread with aid operations ‘near collapse’ in Gaza

Abeer Etefa, a spokesperson for the UN’s World Food Program (WFP), warns “humanitarian operations in Gaza are near collapse”. If food and other supplies don’t resume entering Gaza “in massive quantities, famine-like conditions will spread”, she said.

Etefeh said WFP stopped distribution in Rafah after exhausting its stocks. It continues passing out hot meals in central Gaza and “limited distributions” of food packages there, but “food parcel stocks will run out within days”, she said.

Etefa said 10 trucks entered through the US-made pier on Friday and were taken to its warehouse in central Gaza. But a delivery Saturday of 11 trucks was stopped by crowds of Palestinians who took supplies, and only five trucks made it to the warehouse. No further deliveries came from the pier on Sunday or Monday, she said.

You full well know there was a rocket attack on the IDF when they were monitoring aid through the Rafah pass and this is why it closed and that is a fact

The Hamas rocket attack was on Asilat IDF base close to the Kerem Shalom Crossing where tanks and troops were massing prior to the land invasion of Rafah - the Rafah crossing [not pass] is about 2 miles away from the rocket attack

Yes, it’s very likely that Hamas operatives would cross the border with bona fide refugees and use the Sinai Peninsula as a base putting Egypt in the line of fire from Israel. They probably already sneak in for the purpose of arms smuggling fairly regularly but to consolidate a base on Egyptian territory wouldn’t be good for anyone.

Importantly, Hamas got voted in by the majority in Gaza when Israel forced out settlers and look what Hamas has done to Gaza

You know the answer but for the benefit of lurkers:
-Because Egypt would then be complicit with forced depopulation which is a war crime.
-Because it would likely destabilise the Sinai peninsula- the terrorist with their new recruits would capitalise on such a forced displacement and on the desire of the Palestinians to go home and would likely use the Sinai peninsula as a launch pad for attacks on the occupying forces which in turn would lead to retaliatory strikes by the superior Israeli forces.
-Because Egypt can barely feed and educate its own population and the move would be unpopular and destabilising. Look at the destabilising effect of half that number on a wealthy country like Britain formerly a moderate democracy. -Because Egypt didn’t cause the problem and Israel did. Israel is currently an occupying power and under international law, the responsibility to ensure humanitarian aid rests with Egypt.

Why doesn’t Israel allow aid in as instructed by ijc and also doesn’t do anything when settlers destroy aid and even attack the lorry drivers ?
