I'm just open mouthed at the dogged determination to smear a 9 y/o child who was shot dead with long rants postulating about his background. his poor bloody family. He's not even likely buried.

Not to mention the hateful racist propaganda that said they appreciated the death of children.😧

What kind of people say such things? 😪

I mean, maybe. Or maybe they figured he was part of Hamas. Tell me how you would react if, after an organisation sworn to kill you simply because of who you were born had recently killed 1,200 of your fellow citizens, had just launched an attack on you. This is what is so colossally fucked up- in the UK, in most countries around the world if a child behaved that way, you wouldn’t really suspect them of murderous intent. But Hamas recruit and use children, generally from the age of 14 but reports say they have used younger. Which means where you would ordinarily in line with every human instinct protect a child, have to override that instinct because children that young had killed your fellow soldiers. The psychological trauma of having to train soldiers to see children as enemy combatants, when probably most of them aren’t, must be horrific. But if your enemy use children, then how else do you protect your soldiers from them?

Theres a reason child soldiers are still classed enemy combatants. Why on earth are people not frothing at the mouth at the absolutely scummy, low down tactics Hamas use? Because the result is yes, you train your military to kill enemy combatants, which means children. If you were in the same position you would do the same thing. Everyone would, because all armies are trained to kill enemy combatants.

Even worse, there’s a decent chance the boy wasn’t even a Hamas fighter, but how the fuck do you tell the difference? Don’t wear uniforms- now you can’t tell the difference between civilians and soldiers. Use women and children? Now they are people you have to train your military to kill. That’s not because the IDF think “oh great let’s pop some kids” but because child soldiers have resulted in the deaths of IDF infantry. So you train your soldiers to not get killed.

its so far beyond fucked up- the twisted things being done which force the hand of the soldiers who have to fight in those circumstances. There’s no honour, no courage. There’s just terror and sick abuse of civilians. And yet, when Hamas swear that they will not abide a 2-state solution, that Israel must be wiped from the map, when more than a thousand ACTUAL civilians (because the IDF wear uniforms) are murdered kidnapped and raped, and people say they shouldn’t fight back because look at the children and civilians dying.

Doesnt that strike you as so utterly fucked up? Doesn’t that make you think that Hamas MUST have engineered it, because why else would you choose this course of action? How utterly psychopathic you would have to be to design this? I can’t see this being accidental. I can’t see this being anything but very intentional. Get the filthy Jews any way you can, and if you can get them to kill kids see if you can get it on camera, cause that’d be fucking super. It’s revolting.

One of the best posts I've read about this.

An 8 yo being a child soldier is irrelevant, he at the time, posed no risk.

@Alexandra2001 agree that it’s like no other conflict. That a terrorist organisation somehow has turned public opinion round and garnered considerable sympathy from lots of normally rational people. Don’t see many of you sympathising with the Taliban or Al Qaeda who also have committed similar atrocities and claim to be the victims of western imperialism, invasions and oppression.
Most of those IDF soldiers will be young, many are conscripted because Israel has national service, no doubt large numbers will dislike Netanyahu and his politics. To suggest that all Israeli soldiers are crazed murderous sadists who just love shooting kids is ridiculous. Most will be good people much like most Palestinians aren’t necessarily Hamas supporters.
We don’t know the real circumstances about this incident and it’s a cert that Hamas will use it as yet more propaganda.

You make many apposite points - and indeed it is the right thing to do to wait until we learn about the whole circumstances before judgment is made.

Is there a reason you are derailing a thread about a 9 year old boy being shot as ran for his life by talking about ISis and Boko Haram? It shows a disgraceful lack of respect to a small boy who is barely cold.

100%

These posters need to stop. It's incredibly dehumanising and disgraceful.

Err you 'll have to quote back to me where i said or implied sympathy for Hamas, imho they are a bunch of murdering thugs.
Israel had every right to pursue the killers of Oct 7th, what they haven't got is the right to kill 1000s of people and displace 2.1m civilians.... they ve literally gone in for extermination of Hamas at ANY cost to the Palestinians... i think that goes far beyond legitimate defence.

You ve zero idea of the motivations of IDF soldiers, their politics or beliefs.

Civilised nations don't go around killing 1000s of civilians in order to kill a relative small number of terrorists..... we didn't do it in NI or did i miss the Cruise missile attack on West Belfast after Omagh bombing or the attempt to kill the entire British Govt in Brighton?

We do know 2 children were shot, one twice in the chest, another a head shot, bit random for both to be stray bullets, which is what you re suggesting.

You also will only accept what the IDF say happened, not what local Dr's saw or treated & the IDF have considerable form in lying.

Efacsen · 30/11/2023 20:58

There must be a name for this kind of cognitive distortion

'They're nice boys really' is no consolation to anyone particularly these boys poor parents - they are trained killers like all soldiers so there is no need to postulate 'crazed murderous sadists' Very much doubt it was a scared greenie who felled a running child with a headshot

We don’t know the real circumstances about this incident and it’s a cert that Hamas will use it as yet more propaganda

There is quite clear CCTV footage of the incident - the details of which were reported in a wide variety of reputable media - none of which raised issues about any wrongdoing by either boys at the time or since. Until a reputable source verifies evidence to the reverse these are the 'real circumstances'

Hamas will take advantage whatever happens

I mean I’d agree in the normal course of events, but Hamas don’t seem to care. Having children get killed is something they seem totally ok with. Otherwise they wouldn’t recruit child soldiers, so I don’t think the concern about child innocence is something that’s high on their agenda.

beigecartoon · 30/11/2023 20:51

@OuiOuiKitty heartless. More interested in spreading an agenda than recognising an innocent child was cruelly killed today by IDF.

@beigecartoon In Psychology today, Jan 2023
‘Nonstate and terrorist groups, such as ISIS, Boko Haram, Hamas, Al-Shabaab, and Islamic Jihad are among the worst offenders. They openly recruit children, using them in combat roles and as support staff, and often exploit them sexually.’

I think that the main culprits showing a disgraceful lack of respect for the citizens of their godforsaken state are Hamas and other extremist Islamic terrorist groups.

@Parkingt111 yes it shows zero respect for the actual child who has lost his LIFE at age 9. Can you imagine if this was a child from the UK and posters dared say this stuff? Disgraceful lack of respect for a beautiful 9 yr old child who is now sadly dead.

Parkingt111 · 30/11/2023 20:04

Just to clarify as I think some people are getting mixed up
The 9 year old boy who was murdered with one shot to his head was in his own neighbourhood and they were sprung upon in a suprise attack by the IDF. This was in an area which is considered a safe zone

This incident that happened is completely separate to the shooting that happened by Hamas members in East Jerusalem

There has been no footage or evidence to suggest that the young child was throwing or lighting anything up

The cctv shows him with his back turned and shot from behind

If you really can't see why this is wrong and have no evidence to the contrary then I don't see any point of arguing it further. A child lost his life. You have all come on to tell those who are upset about this that actually he might have just brought it on himself with no evidence to back up your claims

beigecartoon · 30/11/2023 20:01

@Katharineblum nobody is supporting Hamas, they are supporting innocent palestinian civilians who are oppressed on so many levels by israeli govt, settlers and hamas. Nobody thinks every IDF member is a crazy child killer either. But there's lots of evidence, such as from Breaking the Silence, videos, testimonials and amnesty reports to suggest far too many brutal attacks against civilians occur. We might sometimes challenge propaganda on both sides, this might include challenging claims about IDF or Hamas, because in war the truth is important. That does not equal supporting hamas. Just wanting to look for truth.

ChickHenLittle · 30/11/2023 19:55

Who is sympathising with Hamas? Can you really not respect the fact a child has been killed without bringing Hamas into it? Shameful. Really, really shameful.

Might be argued that a well built 15yo throwing an explosive at the IDF might be shot in self defence etc but an 8yo?

Most wouldn't be able to throw for shit, they'd blow themselves up.

The evidence is, based on official numbers, that the IDF do indeed kill large numbers of Palestinians, armed or not.

The hatred for each other, unfortunately knows no bounds, this is unlike almost any other conflict we've ever seen, makes NI look like a tea party.

I have no idea- other people said you can see it on various clips. I’m just pointing out that the chest beating and wailing about how “the IDF are out there murdering children by the score and here’s the evidence” doesn’t really paint a full picture does it?

Okay. So no evidence apart from 'other people said'

And just FYI the IDF have killed 52 children in the West Bank in the last 7 weeks so maybe it merits a little 'chest beating and wailing' as you charmingly put it

I'd call it a major concern

For goodness sake. Even a dead child isn't immune from accusations and criticism.
Why not stop trying to find fault and make insinuations, and just wait for an official verification of what happened? You know, to a minor, who was shot to death.

I'm assuming that you don't think a 8 yr old would be engaged by Hamas recruiters for active duty

Except it’s relevant isn’t it? If Hamas use child soldiers, and they have a tactic of baiting IDF soldiers to chase into ambush, then it’s highly relevant to the IDFs actions.

That the child threw an explosive at the soldiers it doesn’t guarantee they were a member of Hamas (or IJ, or one of the other options) but it does suggest it, doesn’t it?

No one is saying “oh great a child dead”- it’s horrible, and the boys poor parents must be suffering terribly. But that doesn’t mean that the IDF were just sitting on the corner smoking a fag, saw a few kids go by and thought “oh this is a laugh” and took a pot shot.

Where are you getting the information that this 8 year old was a Hamas child soldier? Can a Palestinian child not just be seen as a child fgs?
