Why is this not in the mainstream news? I thought there was a ceasefire!

not a child but an elderly rabbi. Obviously not the same emotional effect.
All of it is bad. Trying to give one side moral superiority is ridiculous.

the only reason an investigation was done into Tom Hurndall’s death is because he was young, white, British and from a nice well to do family whose dad is a well connected lawyer who applied pressure through the British government and media. Even then the IDF tried famously to cover up what actually happened to him.

will there be an investigation into Adam Al ghoul’s death? I won’t hold my breath.

Desertrose2023 · 01/12/2023 06:35

this has been referenced on other threads but I’m reposting here because he describes exactly the modus operandi being used to try and justify this child’s killing.

Can we please stop responding to the posters trying to defame and besmirch the memory of a murdered child with unfounded allegations he may have been a radicalized “child solider”. it’s disgusting and shouldn’t be dignified with a response from decent people. They should be ignored.

as for “wait for the facts before judging” here are the facts:

the child was 9
the child was 9
the child was 9
the child was 9
the child was 9

Efacsen · 01/12/2023 05:49

Still seen no verifiable evidence that either of these boys were child soldiers/terrorists
doing anything wrong - I'll save my condemnation/criticism til there is and won't be engaging with anyone who makes unfounded accusations

Not seen anything about their funerals either - maybe passed under the radar with all the other news about violence on the WB - parents likely relieved to not have Hamas making a big show of their tragedy

parksandrecs · 30/11/2023 22:48

But in the absence of any evidence that this child was throwing explosives, why raise the suggestion he was a child soldier?

feralunderclass · 30/11/2023 22:48

And the ex IDF soldier who founded Breaking the Silence said they are taught their is no difference between a Palestinian adult and child - they are all fair game 💔

feralunderclass · 30/11/2023 22:46

Hiddenmnetter · 30/11/2023 22:40

I wasn’t the one who said there was video of the kids throwing explosives at soldiers. I’m just pointing out that when you do that, they will treat you like an enemy combatant.

Yes you said there was a video going around, you hadn't seen it.... then spoke about this 8 year old as if it was a given that he was a child soldier and the IDF had no choice but to shoot him. You should be ashamed.

OuiOuiKitty · 30/11/2023 22:40

I would also love to know why people don’t hold Hamas responsible for the bullshit they pull, because they do pull this bullshit, and they do it repeatedly, and deliberately. Soldier kills soldier- that’s war. Thats what it is. I blame the ones who put children in that situation, not the ones who act like every other military.

There is a whole thread called documenting Hamas something or other if you would like to post about Hamas. This thread is about a 9 year old boy who was shot in the head as he was fleeing the IDF, it isn't about Hamas at all. Your posts would probably be more suited to the thread that is about Hamas.

Parkingt111 · 30/11/2023 22:40

Hiddenmnetter · 30/11/2023 22:35

Infact I can’t believe it but I’ll quote Prince Harry- “I was trained to see them as chess pieces taken off the board, bad guys eliminated before they kill good guys”

Thats how soldiers are trained.

You know that this thread is about the death of a 9 year old child?
Although each post is giving more and more insight into what i previously was unsure whether it was true or propaganda

I don’t know what the IDF trains its soldiers to do, what I do know is that armies train soldiers to kill enemy combatants.

Hamas uses child soldiers as enemy combatants. Ergo…

But then- what else should the IDF do? Allow it’s soldiers to be killed by children? The laws of war state that a child soldier is still an enemy combatant and therefore a valid target for deadly force. I would love to know about any military that doesn’t train its soldiers to kill enemy soldiers.

The laws of war state that a child soldier is still an enemy combatant

The argument put forward on these threads is that all Palestinian children potentially are "enemy combatants"

If this child is running on the street in his own area, safe zone, does an IDF soldier have the right to shoot on sight just because he may be an "enemy combatant"?

Do soldiers get full rights in deciding which child is an enemy, is there any sort of procedure or repercussions of rhis?

I think this needs to be a different thread to discuss IDF policies about Palestinian children. This is a thread mourning a child and is disrespectful, as has been said many many times above. We don't need to score points over the validity of this child's murder.

@MNHQ please can you ask for this thread to stop being derailed and respect a murdered child?

Parkingt111 · 30/11/2023 22:15

@parksandrecs yes I did read about that but @Hiddenmnetter has been such an eye opener.

The psychology and training given to view all Palestinians as potential suspects or combatants i really didn't know that. In fact if someone else had said it then I might have even thought ok maybe it's true and maybe it's not.

stormy4319trevor · 30/11/2023 22:14

@Hiddenmnetter Are you saying the IDF are trained to kill children? I hope this is not true, that sounds alarming.

OuiOuiKitty · 30/11/2023 22:13

Jupitersstorm · 30/11/2023 21:51

I thought it was relevant as context is important. But just my opinion. And also, the thread title says a boy was murdered. Combatants in war have not committed murder so if it is a child combatant, no matter how terribl;y young he is, then it is not murder.
We just don't know yet.

Well then perhaps she should save it until 'we' do know why the IDF shot a child in the back of the head as he was fleeing? Until there is any suggestion that this boy is anything but a victim(by actual authorities not by mumsnetters who put Palestinian and child together and come up with terrorist) it is inappropriate to speculate.

@Hiddenmnetter your post has been really eye opening
I did know that the IDF generally treat the Palestinians suspiciously but what I didn't know was that they can shoot or harm any based just on the perception that any Palestinian could potentially be a Hamas recruit
I am actually shocked
No wonder the Palestinians don't stand a chance

Edited

100%

Revealing their own barbaric psychopathy. Irony is that everything they write about Hamas is applicable even more for IDF, except that IDF is the official army of a "moral democracy"

parksandrecs · 30/11/2023 22:08

Have a quick look at 'administrative detention'

80% of the hostages released by Israel were imprisoned without trial. 'terrorist actions' included throwing stones at armed IDF soldiers

If you want to talk about child soldiers why don't you start a thread about it? Surely you can see that it is inappropriate to discuss that on a thread about a 9 year old boy who was shot in the back of the head as he tried to run for his life. There is no evidence that this young child is anything other than unfortunate victim, your post is completely irrelevant and very insensitive.

Too blinded to see how atrocious and inhumane their own words are. And their own army.

Hiddenmnetter · 30/11/2023 21:34

I mean, maybe. Or maybe they figured he was part of Hamas. Tell me how you would react if, after an organisation sworn to kill you simply because of who you were born had recently killed 1,200 of your fellow citizens, had just launched an attack on you. This is what is so colossally fucked up- in the UK, in most countries around the world if a child behaved that way, you wouldn’t really suspect them of murderous intent. But Hamas recruit and use children, generally from the age of 14 but reports say they have used younger. Which means where you would ordinarily in line with every human instinct protect a child, have to override that instinct because children that young had killed your fellow soldiers. The psychological trauma of having to train soldiers to see children as enemy combatants, when probably most of them aren’t, must be horrific. But if your enemy use children, then how else do you protect your soldiers from them?

Theres a reason child soldiers are still classed enemy combatants. Why on earth are people not frothing at the mouth at the absolutely scummy, low down tactics Hamas use? Because the result is yes, you train your military to kill enemy combatants, which means children. If you were in the same position you would do the same thing. Everyone would, because all armies are trained to kill enemy combatants.

Even worse, there’s a decent chance the boy wasn’t even a Hamas fighter, but how the fuck do you tell the difference? Don’t wear uniforms- now you can’t tell the difference between civilians and soldiers. Use women and children? Now they are people you have to train your military to kill. That’s not because the IDF think “oh great let’s pop some kids” but because child soldiers have resulted in the deaths of IDF infantry. So you train your soldiers to not get killed.

its so far beyond fucked up- the twisted things being done which force the hand of the soldiers who have to fight in those circumstances. There’s no honour, no courage. There’s just terror and sick abuse of civilians. And yet, when Hamas swear that they will not abide a 2-state solution, that Israel must be wiped from the map, when more than a thousand ACTUAL civilians (because the IDF wear uniforms) are murdered kidnapped and raped, and people say they shouldn’t fight back because look at the children and civilians dying.

Doesnt that strike you as so utterly fucked up? Doesn’t that make you think that Hamas MUST have engineered it, because why else would you choose this course of action? How utterly psychopathic you would have to be to design this? I can’t see this being accidental. I can’t see this being anything but very intentional. Get the filthy Jews any way you can, and if you can get them to kill kids see if you can get it on camera, cause that’d be fucking super. It’s revolting.
