“Pause” ends tomorrow. Anyone else filled with dread ?

It sounds like the OP has educated themselves though , so why do they feel the need to stream horrific images? I support a ceasefire 100% but I haven’t felt the need to constantly look at what another poster succinctly described as ‘war porn’ I don’t see how that is helping anyone; and is clearly affecting the OP’s mental health- they are not helping anyone by martyring themselves like this.

We do need to bear witness. The reason my sleep is disturbed is because I have PTSD from working in war zones as a civilian.

Being able to switch off or not know the full human cost of what you see on a screen is a privilege. If it’s no different from a film about a war with actors other than knowing on an intellectual level “this is real”, then that is due to not ever to having been in war.

It’s not so different from how many rape survivors cannot watch a rape scene in a film much less footage of a real life rape and not be deeply affected by it or be unable to watch the whole scene/footage.

This is exactly how I feel.
There are days I want to just switch off but then I feel guilty because those poor people In Gaza do not have the choice to simply turn away from this and pretend like its not happening. I think the least we can do is learn and educate ourselves on the situation from the comfort of our homes.

This picture was taken by Motaz Azaiza yesterday in Gaza. Seeing those little babies’ smiling faces and praying my hardest that the cease fire will lead to a permanent end to the bombing so that they can live.

It is sad chaitales and I am glad we've another pause. Small steps I know.

There have been a few times when I have wanted to unfollow, change channels, ignore the live streams, pretend it's not happening

But it is. We only have to confront from our living rooms, but Palestinians are living through it. I don't want to kill my humanity and empathy by pretending it doesn't happen, nor do I want to turn my back at Palestinians and not stand up for them however I can.

They come on a thread because they don't like the fact that people are upset about murdered children. I don't understand why they need to negate even empathy and sadness for an innocent generation killed and maimed. They have nothing to add except pointing out that the murders are somehow justified, which wasn't even being discussed here - it was a thread about sadness at war restarting

I disagree with this, I think if the children have to endure bombings, then it’s only fair that we see what is happening in Gaza, we shouldn’t have the privilege of looking away, especially if you’re supporting it. If everyone were to see the horrific videos and images of the dead and injured children, then I don’t believe there would be a single person not calling for a ceasefire.

I don't deny some may be hamas supporters but how do you root out the ones who are from those who aren't? Isn't that the problem we're facing with the situation in gaza as a whole?
Can you imagine being locked away for years beaten and starved in prison for a crime you may not have even committed, no one willing to listen or help.
Israel is not doing itself any favours with the way it treats palestinians. Hate breeds hate. It's such a messed up situation and I think that's why people are so passionate about it becaude most of us can agree on the solution (or at least that this needs to end) yet after so many decades of hate, how do you achieve this safely? Neither side trusts the other to keep their word

Agree with this - you are choosing to have this level of involvement and images on your phone. It seems really distasteful to me, like you are willingly choosing to vicariously experience the war from the comfort of your safe home. Like a disaster tourist. There are ways to support either side without engaging this way and damaging your own mental health in the process.

To be fair some released prisoners are terrorists supporters. As with previous releases, Israel have to be careful who they released. There are also children and people detained for what seems to be minor issues.

Sadly, this won't end quickly and more innocent people are likely to die in this war. It needs international mediation, possibly peace keeping and agreements that are kept to, to move forward. I, like many others don't know what the answer is.

No joy here either. Poor kids and innocent people always suffer on both sides of war. I wish it wasn't so.

The people on this thread getting upset and triggered by others being upset at the thought of children being murdered in their thousands are blowing my mind. I mean just because you're an asshole doesnt mean everyone one else is.
