This is great. I think someone is now trying to imply my friends and colleagues were Hamas or IJ. Which they weren't. They were doctors trying to save lives. That's over in the 'To wonder how anyone thought...' thread, btw.

People are so keen to believe blatant lies and to mock those of us who actually care about the human cost of this conflict.

I cannot imagine how it must feel to know your former colleagues were brutally murdered in this way, and know these and other murders are being lied about with no redress of journalists from Western countries to speak to witnesses and report to the world and now Al Jazeera to be banned.

On Channel 4 News tonight they had a veteran IDF soldier explaining the thinking behind the IDF’s killing strategy which is based on premises which would never lessen the number of innocents killed:

Nick Maynard said in his interview with Nick Ferrari it was a ventilation shaft which was near a hotel he used to stay at. He recognised it from having actually been there.

It reminds me of a line in a computer game from a few years ago: "They're on to you - quick, lie harder."

They’ve been seen to lie often just blatantly.

It really does seem like the Russian lying I have seen described as everyone knows it is a lie, but it is still said and never questioned*. Perhaps there is a Russian influence from Russian immigrants to Israel affecting this.

@ScrollingLeaves there's not even any evidence of Hamas tunnels at Al-Shifa that I've seen. The picture they showed of a 'tunnel' just looked like a ventilation shaft.

At Al-Shifa, the IDF claim not to have harmed any civilians. Strange, given that my colleagues were reportedly found with their hands tied behind their backs and shot at close range. So right now, I don't believe a word of their claims about what they did at Al-Shifa.

O am very sorry.
Obviously it is a tragedy for Gaza. It was a source for life and hope, and a centre of excellence representing the highest levels of learning and expertise. It was also perceived as a place of safety by ordinary people I believe.

A question if anyone knows the answer: I wonder if some of the Hamas fighters captured or killed there by the IDF were in beds being treated for wounds? Surely Hamas fighters were not able to be treated in the tunnels if they had serious wounds.

Two of my former colleagues, with whom I trained for several years, were executed in Al Shifa. Another is missing.

It’s grim, and the Israeli government expect people to believe this was necessary.

I've just been watching LBC on Youtube this morning. There was an interview with Nick Maynard who is an NHS Surgeon who has worked numerous times in Al-Aqsa and Al-Shifa hospital over a number of years. He said that on all occasions, he never saw a Hamas militant and was given full access to both hospitals with no restrictions as were his numerous foreign colleagues. He said that a number of doctors who he has worked with and known for years have been executed, he believes because they are health workers ( I am assuming because it contributes to the unliveable conditions in Gaza) and there are others that are still missing. He said that he doe not believe there are Hamas activities carried out in either hospitals and this has been echoed by other interviews with British and European Doctors that i have listened to.
I would believe Nick Maynard over the IDF any day.
