@braticus Think it was the maternity unit which also contained a childrens ward that was struck at Nasser hospital last night - no hospital is safe from these attacks despite what anyone says

The patient who died was a 13 yr old girl who had already lost a leg, both her parents and many family members in a previous airstrike 'at home' - how's that for being careful and protecting civilian lives to be bombed twice

@Parkingt111 yes saw the press conference coming under fire preventing the doctors from Kamal Adwan from speaking - the health minister from the PA was demanding an enquiry last night so hopefully the attempts to hide the full extent of what happened will be scuppered - there have been so many shocking things done but burying people alive with a bulldozer is so so awful.

Several injured patients were evacuated to Qatar yesterday - patients from Kamal Adwan were supposed to be included on the flight but couldn't go because the ambulances weren't able to collect them

Outrageous.

I saw a report from an Irish MEP today, Barry Andrews, saying that Israel was clearly doing everything possible to frustrate lorries going through the Rafah crossing carrying aid. He said 1 lorry an hour was making it through and the list of "dual purpose" items Israel had was ridiculous. Irish charities sent tents for example and the lorry was turned away because of the tent pegs. Each lorry is thoroughly checked and it seems most are sent away to drive 150km to remove the offending items and come back and try again.

He's a centrist politician, centre right even.

I saw a video of the doctors trying to hold a press conference outside the hospital and they too were fired at by the IDF and had to immediately disperse

The 'fall' of Kamal Adwan has finally made it into MSM - Guardian in fact

The World Health Organization said that it is “appalled” following Israel’s deadly raid on Gaza’s Kamal Adwan hospital over the weekend.

After Israel’s destruction of the only working hospital in northern Gaza through which witness reports emerged accusing Israeli forces of crushing Palestinians, including wounded patients, using bulldozers, WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus said:

“WHO is appalled by the effective destruction of Kamal Adwan hospital in northern #Gaza over the last several days, rendering it non-functional and resulting in the death of at least 8 patients.

Many health workers were reportedly detained, and WHO and partners are urgently seeking information on their status.”

We learned that many patients had to self-evacuate at great risk to their health and safety, with ambulances unable to reach the facility. Of the deceased patients, several died due to lack of adequate health care, including a 9-year-old child.

Emergency department at al-Shifa hospital is 'a bloodbath', warns WHO

The emergency department at the al-Shifa hospital in northern Gaza is “a bloodbath” and the facility is “in need of resuscitation”, the World Health Organization has warned.
The WHO said “tens of thousands of displaced people are using the hospital building and grounds for shelter”, and that there is “a severe shortage” of drinking water and food.

The operating theatres are not functioning due to a lack of fuel, oxygen and other supplies, said the WHO after one of its teams delivered medical supplies to the hospital yesterday, along with other UN agencies.
In a statement, the WHO said:

The team described the emergency department as a “bloodbath”, with hundreds of injured patients inside, and new patients arriving every minute.

Patients with trauma injuries were being sutured on the floor, and limited to no pain management is available at the hospital.The al-Shifa hospital, Gaza’s biggest, is seen as a key objective because it dominates a sector of Gaza City where many government buildings are located.

Israel has said there is an Hamas command centre in bunkers underneath, something that Hamas and hospital staff have denied.

Matthew Miller was asked if the US knew about the babies left behind by the IDF after forcing the evaluation of An-nasser hospital and if he would call it a war crime. This was his pathetic response. No condemnation either

"I would say that is a tragedy,
"It's a tragedy for those babies. It's a tragedy for their family members. It's a tragedy for the Palestinian people and it is a tragedy for the world," Miller continued. "And this is why we have made clear that far too many Palestinians have been killed in this conflict, and that, of course, includes far too many Palestinian children and of course, Palestinian babies."
"And it is why we have taken every measure we could to speak loudly and clearly to the government of Israel that it needs to do everything it can to minimize civilian harm," he added.

Bit more about Al Shifa from WHO

The World Health Organization said it would “strengthen” the al-Shifa hospital “in the coming weeks” in order for it to resume basic services.

“Up to 20 operating theatres in the hospital, as well as post-operative care services, can be activated if provided with regular supplies of fuel, oxygen, medicines, food, and water,” the WHO said, along with the necessary staff.''

NB There are 70 volunteers as well as the handful of qualified staff keeping the hospital open atm

Yesterday UN/WHO re-supplied Al Shifa hospital - didn't think we would ever hear about it again

There are 'a handful of doctors and nurses' still working there and the ER was described as a 'bloodbath' with 100s of injured and thousands of displaced people sheltering at the hospital again

They have been re-supplied with painkillers and anaesthetic agents but it's difficult to imagine what kind of care can be provided with so few staff/so many patients

The number of functioning/partially functioning hospitals goes up and down in a way it's difficult to understand - back up to 12 from 5 - maybe it depends on whether they have any medical supplies that day or not

It all sounds beyond horrific

@braticus i have been following the updates on healthcare attacks in Gaza since the start of the war but hearing it listed like that still shocked me.

The medical situation is so terrifying. It won't be long before a single hospital is functioning. I saw an appeal on SM asking Arabic speaking ob/gyns to do online antenatal consultations with women in their last trimester. I cannot imagine how utterly terrifying it must be to be in the final stages of pregnancy. The 'civilized' world wouldn't allow a dog to suffer this. God help them.

This alone is like something out of the worst horror movie. This is supposed to be a civil state. The ICC is too good for these terrorists!
